imy9 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Surely ledley would fit into that too? Point is gosling has had a serious injury wants a four year deal on big wages-more than the 20k everton offered, I don't think it's a major loss.

It's not worth paying over the odds for an up and coming player, which is ultimately why we'll miss out.
John Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 3 club rule....? Bolton, Blackburn and Newcastle are keeping tabs on Wolves midfielder David Jones, according to reports in the Sunday tabloids. The Star goes on to suggest that Real Madrid and Spain legend Raul was never likely to move to the North West, despite the vest efforts of Michel Salgado, as Blackburn were priced out of a possible move for the 33-year-old veteran striker.

I don't see three clubs being interested in Jones...not been the same since he left The Monkees. Raul thing would be accurate. Not sure it went as far as Guti though.
Majiball Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 3 club rule....? Saw the Jones link as well. I didn't think of the 3 club rule, more the haven't got a pot to ###### in rule.
John Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Raul thing would be accurate. Not sure it went as far as Guti though. Salgado was quoted as saying we tried signing Raul but could not afford him, his words were our Chairman is tight!
67splitscreen Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 From the Gaurdian ' The club claim that an improved contract offer worth around £16,000 a week was verbally agreed with Gosling and his representatives before May,'
roversfan99 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 I wouldnt mind if we are giving Ilan a trial, could be a very shrewd addition. Is Guti still available?
John Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Celtic and Bolton were closely linked to Illan, have they dropped their interest? Just read Coyle ruled it out...
nicko Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Celtic and Bolton were closely linked to Illan, have they dropped their interest? Just read Coyle ruled it out... Ilan has been offered around by an agent for the past few weeks. Bolton were never interested, not sure about Celtic. There seems to be a glimmer of interest from Rovers...if he wants to come for a 'test' that might move it along a bit more.
nicko Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Nicko, was there anything in us looking at Morientes? I have not heard that, but I would not dismiss anything just now. If there is no money then anyone free could turn up. If there is a takeover or the Trustees get their hands in their pockets then things may change.

Ste B Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 According to Sam yesterday we are not interested in dos santos. Didn't give any other snippets just told us to get beers.
1864roverite Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 You might only owe Eddie Winky Wanderer but the harsh truth is is that you dont own your own training ground do you own your own stadium. So the money you will have to pay Eddie when he wants it back will have to come from somewhere. That is the only reason on paper you have so little debt. From what I have heard for Bolton to own the breezeblock outright would cost you a massive amount of money and to buy the land at Euxton as well would cripple you.

Not sure why this is being discussed but they also have the training ground near the reebok now!
John Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Could be close to signing for someone.. No James Beattie in the Stoke squad for their Austria training camp....
roversam Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 bolton own the ground and the hotel that goes with it. Their own built new training facilities for the youth and first team squad. Am not sure they are at Euxton anymore. Eddie Davies has actually paid for naming rights of the youth academy. They do have a fair bit of debt but it isnt to the banks, they owe the owner
chaddyrovers Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 No James Beattie in the Stoke squad for their Austria training camp.... Can't see rovers sign him. Lost all his pace and is lazy. Stoke wants 2.5 million pounds for him, thats a joke. Nobody will pay that for 32 years old player. bolton own the ground and the hotel that goes with it. Perfect signing for us
Amo Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 No James Beattie in the Stoke squad for their Austria training camp.... Did anyone else feel a chill down their spine?
AspRover Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Put it this way - if Beattie was not at their training camp because he was imminently about to sign for us then he would have to be 1.) moving on a free or nominal sum and 2.) on relatively small wages (because of the much discussed transfer embargo/takeover). If that was the case, whats the issue? If he's going to turn up and put a shift in for anyone it would be us, and on those terms he's a solid, short term, alternative to Roberts. Not that I think for a second that he's about to sign for us.
1864roverite Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Without going into arguments sam winkers DO NOT own the breezeblock OR the hotel, it is all leased. The whole Middlebrook estate owns the land, even the police station is a leased purpose built building. As for Euxton, some Bolton players were running there the other day and then tried out some fancy golf machine on the driving range so they may still do some of their training there.
Doaksie Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Could be close to signing for someone.. No James Beattie in the Stoke squad for their Austria training camp.... Or, similarly to Zurab, left behind as he is not in the first team plans, thus cancelling the chance for him to become a disruption and try and find himself a new employer.
John Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Dan Gosling will agree to sign for Newcastle United on Monday - pending an appeal by Everton into his acrimonious departure from Goodison.
