HemelRover Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 You're right on one thing there, we are used to frustrating windows but this one is a whole new level. Not even a robbie fowler to discuss? Anyone spot Andy van der Meyde yet? Or has Vieri decided to quit pro Poker and return to Football?

JAL Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I know we can't let everyone go but none of those three really. I would have just thought that for the sort of wages Pedersen is on we could have found an up and coming youngster who would offer a lot more. Pedersen doesn't offer anything worthwhile at all these days imo. You might not agree with this Rev but MGP is the only one who plays a creative forward pass over twenty yards, which for me says a lot about the rest of the team. But I bet the club and super John Williams knew, full well that they didnt have the money for an up and coming young player this summer.
slough_rover Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Maybe the transfer thread should be blocked until the proposed takeover is completed/collapses?
niggit Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Maybe the transfer thread should be blocked until the proposed takeover is completed/collapses? And what will people do then, i mean come on. No Names, but some people live for this thread.
chaddyrovers Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I think Gary Hooper would be a good signing. Got abit of pace and scores goals. Remind me of Matt Derbyshire in a way. All depend on what money is available to Big Sam. Glad to hear that Big Sam is stepping up his interest in targets after his meeting with the board!
LeChuck Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I think Gary Hooper would be a good signing. Got abit of pace and scores goals. Remind me of Matt Derbyshire in a way. Me too, in a 'not good enough for the Premier League' kind of way.
nicko Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 The latest I hear is that strikers [plural] are being watched right now and in the next few weeks... In the hope there will be some money to spend. So it's a wait and see job.

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Ditto the question above. It would be sensible to make wishlists now, rather than later, one for "same old crap funds" and one for "Chicken Korma Blackburn End" funds.
Steve Moss Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Takeover money or Trustees? I suspect that Sam doesn't care so long as the money spends.
Doaksie Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 The latest I hear is that strikers [plural] are being watched right now and in the next few weeks... Don't want to bombard you with questions Alan, but to your knowledge, is there any new names floating around?
67splitscreen Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Takeover money or Trustees? Trustees! your having a laugh. FK Suduva v Rapid, Thursday night we will no doubt be tuned in.
roversmum Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 So it's a wait and see job. Have done the waiting bit, now ready for the seeing ...
tony gale's mic Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Liverpool going for the big guns: http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/834982-james-beattie-lined-up-for-liverpool-transfer-by-new-boss-roy-hodgson
thenodrog Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Liverpool going for the big guns: http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/834982-james-beattie-lined-up-for-liverpool-transfer-by-new-boss-roy-hodgson Who'd ever have thought they'd see those 3 names linked in just one sentence a couple of short years ago? To all Livvie fans ....... Welcome to Hell!
nicko Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Don't want to bombard you with questions Alan, but to your knowledge, is there any new names floating around? Jalevic is obviously one being closely watched just now. I hear Ilan may come on trial if he swallows some pride. There are a couple of others in Europe who will be studied in the next few weeks. There are a couple of fall backs who you could always turn to as well. It is pretty fluid just now by the sound and feel of it.
Hughesy Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 It is pretty fluid just now by the sound and feel of it. Has the board meeting today given him the go ahead to start making moves again then? Heard anything more on the takeover?
chaddyrovers Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Has the board meeting today given him the go ahead to start making moves again then? Heard anything more on the takeover? let's hope the board has given him the go ahead. don't want us to be signing somebody who Big Sam didn't really want.
Hughesy Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 There was a meeting today with Sam & the board I believe...so wonder if thats where the comments from Nicko have come from?
ewoodpo Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 When you say "weeks" Alan that sends a shiver down ones spine. Here I was hoping that we'd have somebody in before the squad goes down under .
John Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Surely if a takeover was close we would not be buying anyone under the current ownership?
Hughesy Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Surely if a takeover was close we would not be buying anyone under the current ownership? Unless both the trust & potential buyers have agreed a pot that any party will cover if they are running it....i.e. Buy now, but whoever takes over pays it...or if not, trust cover it!
