I'm not even sure he wants it rescuing to be honest. Sat on a long contract on christ knows how much a week for doing not a lot seems to be appealing to him. The only down side i can see is its in Hull!

Spent a lot of time in hull recently have you ????????

1. In Allardyce's opinion it would have cost us £6m to replace him. To me that just doesn't add up.

Who cares about your mathematical talent mark? That figure is simply a marker as a valuation for any future bids from other clubs. SA would have been bloody daft giving a figure of 2m and then trying to ask for more everytime there is an enquiry. Also I'd imagine it's relevent to MGP's salary level.

Take some age old advice .... Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. :tu:

Who to believe? Jw or the gossip columnist?

Believe the evidence. No players.

Believe the comments of the manager months ago about the need to sign players before the World Cup or more recently the need to conclude the takeover business to let him get some players in.

Believe what you want.

Two years ago Paul Ince was appointed at the end of June.

That monkey has just been on talk sport. He was asked why it all went wrong for England and whilst I sat waiting for him to say they didn't shoot enough, he came out with something else.

Apparently there are not enough ex players coaching kids, well I think he should check to see how many really are. Also if he'd stuck out his badges he could be one of those ex players, instead he was more interested in discussing his handicap.

Hypocrite if the highest order and general know nothing.

EDIT: I all honesty (no offence meant Nicko) I don't care who's telling the truth (LT is hardly a fountain of all truth on Rovers), the simple fact is we do need some players and soon. Otherwise we will be left with rubbish to choose from.

Mr Nixon is speaking the truth. It's just common sense.

It would be Pointless signing @#/? if a takeover could happen in a few weeks time.

So we wait till after the takeover and still sign exactly the same standard of player only weeks later when they cost more and you have less time to work with them. A takeover will not bring in huge funds - a bit more but unless it's of City proportions then we're not really expecting much better than we already have, unless we are real optimists.

Totally correct.

Of course JW is going to tell the press that we are currently looking for players. That way, if the takeover doesn't happen and we are stuck with our current squad till January, then he'll always be able to say "Well, we did all we good."

In reality we are very unlikely to sign anyone until the takeover is resolved, one way or another. It may have even been a request by Shah "Don't add to the wage bill."

In my limited experience of one takeover I was involved in, a company looks to lose staff when wanting to be bought out. Bringing in more staff in the middle of a takeover would be quite odd. I can't imagine a medium sized I.T company adding two million pounds a year to it's wage bill whilst undertaking buy out talks with Microsoft...

I have just read the John Williams interview...have to say it all sounds right to me...

“Obviously we are aware of fresh impetus with regards the potential sale of the club, with at least one potential new buyer being identified.

“In the event of a successful sale, and money being made available, we do have a list of players available in the back of our minds.

“But in the meantime we have a job of work to do and we are not allowing any talk regarding potential new ownership put us off that.

“We will continue to go on as we are and we are still weighing up different options we have available to us.”

So...there IS a possible takeover...that would mean money for players...in the meantime we are all waiting for that to happen and have not decided whether to blow the 'budget.'

Business as usual? I don't think so. There has not been a disruptive influence like this on the transfer market at Rovers before.

Two years ago Paul Ince was appointed at the end of June.

Within days he had set up deals for Villanueva and the Ecuadorian midfielder who came on trial for day and headed off to sign for Everton.

He had also set up a deal for Paul Robinson and that was only a matter of waiting for Brad Friedel to be sold...although he and a few others denied this at the time.

Kinell!!! Well we all know one of those others don't we?

Brad didn't want to leave. Check his book. Who was it who phoned him to ask if the rumours about Ince trying to sell him were true...

And how did his move to Manchester City work out, Gordon?

Replied in the manner of a true wordsmith Alan..... as I knew you would.

As for his move to Man City? I must admit I knew of their interest and had not heard of the Villa link at the time of writing. BUT At least I was half right whilst you were completely wrong! :tu:

btw have you got to the bottom of the alleged bad blood that existed twixt Ince and Freidel yet?

btw 2 Guess who was with him when you phoned? ^_^

What's half right about Brad joining Man City because he liked their goalkeeping coach? 100 per cent wrong.

You need to stop digging before you make yourself look even more foolish. Get over it, nobody's perfect remember.

How do you know that?,nothing is known about the people who want to buy your club.

I don't know it but realistically there are few who would sink huge funds into buying players nowadays. City's owners do it but they are apparently megarich. What would a megarich purchaser be doing sniffing round Rovers? We've never been able to attract that kind of owner in the past, someone who just happens to want to buy a club and thinks "Well, let's buy Rovers, and although we are more attractively priced at the moment I for one still don't see the kind of cash being splashed that some people envisage. I'm a realist, not an over optimistic fan - that's all.

Looks like the shackles have been removed then. Knew there was a meeting yesterday, will hopefully make a move soon for a striker.

I don't believe there have been shackles at any point.

Lack of opportunities and players being greedy yes, but suspension of activities looking for and at transfer targets, no.
