We were told we had at least 3-4 million at the end of the season (not even loose change for most clubs), and now we have to sell Roberts to find money? Seriously?

This wage bill of ours really is too high, if that's what's sucking up all the money. And if the reasoning for it is that "well if we didn't offer them so much money, they'd never come to us", than that's no good at all. We really need a new selling point than "come to us, we'll pay you good, and if other clubs like you you can leave at a moment's whim".

Lancashire Telegraph report that Iranian international Teymourian is having a trail with Rovers, he was previously at Fulham, they released him at the end of last season.

He was originally signed by BFS at bolton wasn't he along with michalik?

I wonder what Roberts receive in wages.

Selling a 30+ year old and replacing him with a young one on less wages, though more expensive in terms of price seems like good business to me and is part of restructuring going one.

I for one would be happy with Kalinic and Jelavic as our only STRIKERS. We know that Olsson, Dunn and Hoilett can be used as attackers.

P.S Our former targer Senijad Ibricic scored for Hajduk Split in their friendly against Hamburg last night.

Scraping the barrel

He played almost 2 years under Sam Allardyce and is often considered as a defensive midfielder og playing on the side. Sam must know what abilities Teymourian have, but have decided to check how fit he is.

He scored 4 goals for Bolton and was actually quite a popular player at Reebook acoording to some.

Being Iranian I can give you good insight into him.

He had huge potential at 23 when he moved to Europe, but the fact that he has been warming benches for the last 4-5 years means that he has stagnated. He wasnt even that ambitious I think to want to move to clubs to play regular football. Great at winning the ball back and absolutely no distribution skills. His passing is woeful. Would he add something to the team? I think he could be a good squad player, and can see him taking over from the ever-absent Grella in the holding role. But can he step it up again after 4 years of virtually no football? I am not sure. He is an ever present in the national team though, although lost his place as a guaranteed starter in the last two years.

One positive about him is his non-stop tireless running.

Hence why Sam is taking him on trial.

good grief, selling Roberts would be crazy imo. Im not a fan of Roberts, but he at least provides us with a bit of strength up front.

a good offer might be good business, but again the most we might get for him is 2mill. Add that to the 2.5 and we still will be struggling to find a decent striker.

We need 2 strikers at the moment, selling Roberts means we will most likely need 3 strikers. Ilan ill be happy with if we can get him going, and on a free if he impresses on trial. Then I suppose use the rest of the money on Jelevic, and use Hoilett and Dunn as makeshift strikers.

Teymourian(sp), well im not sure what Sam is smoking, but do we need another defensive midfielder? Its on the creative side in midfield that we need somebody, but it looks like we will again fail to bring in a creative midfielder.

Im still of the opinion, that we take a look at Jermaine Pennant for that right wing slot, but I will probably get a mouthful from some on here

The passing is a big worry but we have been missing a reliable midfield ball winner and disrupter. Let's hope Sam can get inside his head to make him hungry and he works out. Could be a good partner for Nzonzi who was being asked to do too much because of the flakes alongside him.

I would have preferred we had sold Grella to add a bit of oil to the transfer engine but if flogging Roberts gets us a forward who doesn't miss open nets from five yards, I am all in favour.

David Moyes has just said Everton are done in the transfer market for this summer- they brought three freebies in including Beckford who I suspect could be a success for them.

If we were looking for an Iranian player, then Nekounam is available from Osasuna. Our national team captain, and he scores 6-10 goals a season from defensive midfield, largely with headers. He is 29 and with 1 year left on his contract, Olympiakos have made a 1.3 million Euro offer for him. Very good holding player, and excellent passing range. A bit lanky and looks lazy like Diaby but isnt really.

Another option is the creative attacking midfielder and one of the best dribblers Ive seen, Masoud Shojaei, also at Osasuna. Lost his place last season, although he still made an impact off the bench. Could add something to the team for sure. Only 25.

A disrupter and ball winner he definitely is. Hassles all game long, and is always pressing. What lets him down is what he does with the ball the moment he wins it.

When fit, Grella started looking decent when Sam got him to pass it short. Perhaps the same with this guy?

We don't know that 25m is in fact the asking price though, even now.

It has merely been rumoured in the papers that one or two failed bids have valued the club at that level.

Don't get me wrong but I'm sure someone said the asking price was now that amount? Not sure who though.

Sell Roberts????

Crazy talk at present, have you noticed that both the reserves and the first team have played 352? Sell him buy one and we are no better off. If we also do go down the road of playing 2 up front, then we defnitly need 4. So sell him and buy two as with no wingers Junior is fourth.

I hope the 352 is not our plan A.

The Iranian lad is not good enough - hardly inspired many at Bolton or Fulham so in that case he's not good enough for us....not the right type of player to help us push on.

Id rather we signed some unknown foreign import than take a punt on an average joe who hasnt really sparkled at 2 other similar clubs.

LT also mentions Rigters being on his final chance & that he has been told he will be given a chance in pre-season to prove himself.

Fella this is getting cringy now. You have been proved wrong, go lick your wounds quietly and stopping making it worse for yourself!

Really? How so? Will I wake up in a minute, realise it's all been a bad dream and see Brad's name still on the teamsheet?

Alan Nixon might be some kind of demigod to the younger and more impressionable members but like everybody else he does make mistakes. Only difference with him is that his ego will never let him admit it.

Did you ever watch Cole play for Rovers? He was a different class to anything we had at the time/now!

Of course I watched him.

Financially Andy Cole cost us massively. He was no way cheap. Consider this..... £7m from Man Utd plus wages over 3 seasons (I'm estimating his wages at 40k pw, if anybody knows different then substitute that figure). So thats approx £13m overall cost to the club! In return we got 80 odd appearences out of him and around 30 goals before we inexplicably gave him away! In my book that works out around £160,000 per game! Alternatively if it's goals that count then it's in the region of half a million pounds per goal.

Still think he was a bargain JLAV?

Andranik? Enthusiastic ran around a lot.

Not particularly strong in the tackle and not great on the ball.

He has energy though which is why Bolton fans liked him as he came into an ageing midfield of Campo and Speed and an ever balooning Kevin Nolan.

And he scored 2 at Wigan once, so was a hero for that.

Don't think he'll add much to your squad though.

This is truly unbelievable. How can you of all people Theno make a statement like that about anyone on this entire BRFCS site?

Brad didn't want to leave...something I checked...something you didn't.

You were the one who brought it up. Think it might be best to move on.

No doubt it is best to move on cos you will never admit that you were wrong, but the irrefutable fact is that shortly after you were checking with him that Brad did leave. If his contract wasn't up and I don't believe it was then why did he leave if it was against his own free will? Doesn't make sense. Nobody can be forced to simply tear up a contract, if they could I guess Sam would have forced Grella and Zurab to tear theirs up.

Whether money or other outside factors forced his hand I don't know but when he was putting pen to paper at Villa Park it's obvious that he then wanted to leave. You make it sound like JW and Ince virtually had to sneak up on him, tie him up and throw him kicking and screaming into the boot of O'Neills car.

Instead of being in continual denial about what you wrote when it's down in black and white, you might be better employed finding out exactly what it was that changed Brad Freidels mind so suddenly AFTER he had spoken to you. That way your error won't seem quite as glaring.

This is truly unbelievable. How can you of all people Theno make a statement like that about anyone on this entire BRFCS site?

Obviously cos I've a big ego too Fife. :P
