Ewood and I Would Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 The surprise trialist is due to be an Isareli lad called Gai Assulin, who has just left Barcelona. Assulin was a big talent as a kid and played for his country at a very young age. He had a bad knee injury and lost a season but played for Barca ressies last season and also appeared in some of their friendlies. He is only 19, a gifted midfielder. And if he accepts the Rovers invite he should be here very soon. Obviously a free and the wages are not ridiculous, so it fits with the current situation. No more clues on the keeper and the striker who may head over too. Assulin seems to be the first expected. LOL, Wikipedia beats nicko.. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Hughesy Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Very, very highly rated kid at one stage. If he comes it will be a bit of a coup really but I can see bigger fish entering the race. SERIOUS raw potential - I would be AMAZED if we got him for free before anyone else....Dont expect an immediate impact (as hes young) but seriously this kid has awesome ability and is far above anything we have in our midfield in terms of potential. WOW!
Doaksie Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 LOL, Wikipedia beats nicko.. Afraid not. Wikipedia uses a universal time, not GMT. Hence the one hour difference. Nicko 1-0 Wikipedia/you Assulin seems like an exciting prospect. A promising sign that Sam seems to be interested in attacking midfielders/wingers and continuing his youth policy. Good news at least it seems!
Hughesy Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxqODQN_5fM Barca Forum - where they clearly like him Barca site also has about 12 youtube links.
niggit Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Think you should look back Hughesy, been posted. And go to the newest pages, i don't think they do 2 years down the line.

Hughesy Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Think you should look back Hughesy, been posted. And go to the newest pages, i don't think they do 2 years down the line. Seriously that boy has talent - for him to be at Barca & for top, top clubs to be interested in him previously says that - its now up for him to produce & settle somewhere - I just hope its Ewood.
Hughesy Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Just cant see it happening for us.... City & Arsenal want Starlet Nicko any ideas if he's agreed to a trial? Or if hes likely to make it to Ewood?!
Backroom Tom Posted July 15, 2010 Backroom Posted July 15, 2010 I imagine if he is so highly rated even if he did come over on trial then other clubs would get wind of it and maybe tempt him away. I can't see it happening but at least it's something of interest
beerwins Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 If Barca scouts saw talent he obviously has it, the problem is getting the best out of him and not in a million years do I expect Sam to get the chance to do it. There just are too many clubs bigger than us to just let a young lad with talent to sign for bugger all, sometimes its annoying being a realist.
67splitscreen Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Maybe we should use the clubs ambassador on this one.
bennyboyt11 Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Nicko, I feel I know the striker... Should I PM you first or do you think revealing it on here wouldn't be an issue?
john-rover Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 if anybody is on football manager, they may know how good assulin becomes! so it must be fact that he is going to be good! sign him up sam!
Steve Moss Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Just cant see it happening for us.... City & Arsenal want Starlet Nicko any ideas if he's agreed to a trial? Or if hes likely to make it to Ewood?! The story is 11 days old. What are the odds it was a plant by his agent to generate interest? Supposedly we are 'battling' Blackpool for 21 year old striker Krisztian Nemeth. http://www.fansfc.com/BlackburnRovers/story/22711/4.html Any chance that Sam would go for Eagles? He's turned down Celtic. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/8275332.Eagles_turns_down_Rangers_move/?ref=rss

Nobody show Sam Allardyce that video...if he sees the lad with the long throw (somewhere around 1:30 I think, maybe a lil before or after) he will sign him instead!
RoversSG Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Finally! Some news. Good to hear we're finally moving and for a player with "resale value". Hope the unknown striker is someone as exciting
nicko Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Nicko, I feel I know the striker... Should I PM you first or do you think revealing it on here wouldn't be an issue? Feel free to have a stab.
Bobby G Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 The morning after the night before and I still feel Assulin would be pipe-dreamish so to speak. He would definitely be worth a risk as he could become a valuable asset for sale down the line too (speech that would sound sexy to the current owners).
nicko Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Assulin has been invited over. He is due to decide today. His agent has done deals with the manager in the past. So there is a clear line of communication. This one has a chance - I don't think Rovers and the agent would have put it to the player if he was genuinely still wanted by the Arsenals of the world. He needs to prove he is fit and strong enough for the Premier. Might as well do it at Blackburn.
ada2020 Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Fingers crossed on this one, looking at the video of him he is just what we need after this summer of disappointment.
alexanders Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Nicko, Do you know if we had scout to watch Jelavic yesterday?
nicko Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Nicko, Do you know if we had scout to watch Jelavic yesterday? I would presume so...there are a few being watched in pre-season action.
Majiball Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Agree. Plus, if he is a real prospect then i imagine the idea of a trial might not go down too well. The lad played most of last year with the "B" team although he never hit the heights he had in 08. The injury seems to have set him back a bit, not just physically but mentally. I'm surprised at the offer of a trial as a player who at one stage was seen as the new Messi, even with his left leg removed probably has more skill than some of our squadies. However last season he was a disappointment and really the lad cannot live on past glories when he was 16 odd. Its a good move, we have to give Dr Allardyce praise for looking at him. If its more on the mental side a change of scenery and club could help him over that hurdle. But I get the impression that his leg didn't quite come back as it should have and that could be a real problem. The trial is the best bet for us, if Sam has had dealings with this agent before then surely the lad must have some interest in the offer. I hope he does come in and if he looks like he has something, just sign him on the spot. I'd hate to see him come in and for Rovers to do our usual impersonation of a dying snail and wait wait wait, only to see him walk off to another club. If he works out he prefers playing on the left and so we would have cover for Olsson, something we need as at present we have to shuffle the pack a lot should he be out.
Hughesy Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Any chance that Sam would go for Eagles? He's turned down Celtic. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/8275332.Eagles_turns_down_Rangers_move/?ref=rss Rangers.... £1.3m was the price - not out of reach, but would anyone want him here?! He is due to decide today. Might as well do it at Blackburn. Will you also find out the answer today? Id be shocked if he comes....truly a great move for us! even with his left leg removed probably has more skill than some of our squadies. Its a good move, we have to give Dr Allardyce praise for looking at him. I hope he does come in and if he looks like he has something, just sign him on the spot. If the boy has Half of the talent he had previous to his injury then its not even worth considering - sign him now..I mean come on we are talking about Talent or Keith Andrews/ Jason Roberts type level....Agree it shows very good vision by Sam in trying for him - fingers crossed the boy still has the skill as he's only young & can still learn & improve.
