This Assulin guy has some serious pace :tu: I hope we dont mess this kid about though if he comes, if we offer him a trial and he impresses then i hope we offer him a contract.

We tend to do this alot, guy comes in on trial and impresses, we then cant decide and he goes somewhere else. He looks very impressive(i know its only video clips), but his movement, skill and pace is just what we need.

Katlego Mphela.

I had not heard that name, but that doesn't mean he is not under consideration. I know he is being offered around just now.

Wow - dare we get excited over this transfer? This is exactly the kind of the player we should be looking at, players with raw talent who have lost their way. It's a risk-free signing and I'm sure the club will be doing everything to convince this guy that Rovers is an institute for young players. Even if it doesn't come off, it's refreshing to have someone worth talking about.

Agree totally - people got excited over Villanueva but this guy has Waaaaaaaaay more talent & ability - he really is one that could make a massive difference once settled.

If he's a success then he goes from freebie to £10m+ in no time - thats the sort of business clubs like ours have to look at.

Any chance we would be interested in Altidore?

Very much in the Roberts mold but younger and with potential, at times he looked decent at Hull

The lad played most of last year with the "B" team although he never hit the heights he had in 08. The injury seems to have set him back a bit, not just physically but mentally. I'm surprised at the offer of a trial as a player who at one stage was seen as the new Messi, even with his left leg removed probably has more skill than some of our squadies. However last season he was a disappointment and really the lad cannot live on past glories when he was 16 odd.

Its a good move, we have to give Dr Allardyce praise for looking at him. If its more on the mental side a change of scenery and club could help him over that hurdle. But I get the impression that his leg didn't quite come back as it should have and that could be a real problem. The trial is the best bet for us, if Sam has had dealings with this agent before then surely the lad must have some interest in the offer.

I hope he does come in and if he looks like he has something, just sign him on the spot. I'd hate to see him come in and for Rovers to do our usual impersonation of a dying snail and wait wait wait, only to see him walk off to another club.

If he works out he prefers playing on the left and so we would have cover for Olsson, something we need as at present we have to shuffle the pack a lot should he be out.

If we were to sign him, who the hell would coach him at Brockhal, l doubt are coaches will have ever seen a lad with so much talent. ;)

Apricots would do well with our one up front tactic. I know it will be ridiculed but Heskey would probably do well in that role as well. He could be available on the cheap and would probably be interested in the move as well.

Heskey would be a great signing at a decent price, but I expect you will get shot down for the suggestion.

Heskey?? He'll no - we've been stuck with a lump who can't hit a barn door if he has time to think - I'd rather we improved - not just get a like for like replacement.

Love the way the iphone changes altidore to apricots.

He would be a peach of a signing. Would prefer him to Heskey, they're like apples and oranges. People will probably think you're bananas for suggesting that. Maybe we could sign both and see if they work as a pear? Although I'm not sure that would work with our currant line up. Maybe we should berry the idea.

Phew! Glad you told us that Ricky......I was just beginning to get a tad worried that maybe you had been overworked or something:P

You really cherry picked the best fruit puns there, good work.

Now I bet you weren't saying that when he was banging them in for Wigan... <_<

He was only 'banging them in' by his own poor standards, 15 goals in 82 games is still an awful return for most players.

If he was on a free transfer and low wages I'd gamble on him, but he'd be very expensive for us.

Good God, let's hurry up and sign someone!

Reminds me of the time my husband, who struggles with predictive text, sent me a message from his school trip to France saying "On run here"

Wheres that Zaki fella now? He seemed to have no problem finding the net & would fit into Sams style.

Back in Egypt after flopping at Hull. And he probably would have a problem with us checking out Assulin.

Roberts is a very similar record for rovers, but I'd expect Heskey to add more to the assists column.
