RevidgeBlue Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Irrelevant as to whether a fee is being demanded or not. If he doesn't want to move anywhere else for lesser wages he won't. It's a balancing act I guess, I presume he'd rather play football ideally but would you take a pay cut from say 30k p.w. to 10k p.w.? If there is any blame to be attached it lies with us for giving him such a lucrative deal.

Majiball Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 From what I can ascertain he was willing to go to Reading, but when Rovers asked for a fee, they (Reading) said it was too expensive and dropped it. Off course demanding a fee is relevant, if we want 750K and he still wants his 30K a week, then it makes the overall costs much higher. Say he wants a 2 year deal that makes it almost a 4million pound bundle, take out the fee and its much nearer 3million. Not charging a fee means the buying club can pay him more and get nearer to his demands. If he was overed a 2 year deal at a little bit lower than he's currently getting he'd most likely take it, as it means more money overall and he'd get to play. Have you been hanging around with the delusional Joey Barton, young man.
vintageadidas Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 How many goals has Maceo scored for the reserves? He states he " has scored a lot"
thenodrog Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 If there is any blame to be attached it lies with us for giving him such a lucrative deal. And/or for so long! I've long avocated 12 month rolling contracts for all but the ones most difficult to replace. I'd imagine such deals will become more popular. Zurab was not a bad player but given 12 months notice I'm sure that SA could easily find a capable replacement...... in fact probably 10!
brian_gallagher85 Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Have you been hanging around with the delusional Joey Barton, young man. Don't see what's wrong with any of what he has said there Granted he has been a relative flop, but I'm at least glad to see that he's actually talking about playing and trying to score goals, (which shows his confidence hasn't been totally shot to pieces over the last 3 years).
joey_big_nose Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Shame they played fast and loose with the truth. David Peace, the author of the book, described it as an "occult history of Leeds United". It is not intended to be absolutely accurate. The bok does a fantastic job of making football seem closer to one of Dante's visions or something like that. Best sports novel I have ever read.
Veevs Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 How many goals has Maceo scored for the reserves? He states he " has scored a lot" No idea but he didnt score a single goal for Barsley in 19 appearances season before last.... in proper matches he just cant cut it.
alexanders Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 He has scored 5 goals in his whole career: Maceo Righters
modes98 Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Also the LT says Assulin on trial is VERY unlikely to happen!! Knew it was too good to be true! Why? The guy is out of contract and can't get a club. Yet suddenly needs a minor operation which prevents him from coming to the trial. If he was still talented then Barca would have taken a chance or tried to sell him on. I would have liked us to run the rule over him and see if he had something but if the man can't even be bothered to fight for his career then why waste the time and energy.
Amo Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 No idea but he didnt score a single goal for Barsley in 19 appearances season before last.... in proper matches he just cant cut it. And Southend rejected him. Still, he's here and there's not a lot we can appear to do about it. Might as well let him do his thing.
Muddboy Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 From what I've seen of Rigters, and that's not a lot, he's a confidence player. I think he was overawed when he first arrived here and that meant he lost his way. But if the coaching staff can get some confidence into him and perhaps change the way he plays (I think he should be more of a powerhouse striker, much like Shearer was) then maybe, just maybe, we might have someone quite useful on our hands.
Majiball Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 And if I'd picked these numbers I'd be a millionaire. 1. 38 2. 39 3. 45 4. 46 5. 49 6. 07 7. 08 He is simply not good enough and we should have shifted him off to Kilmarnock last year.
LeftWinger Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 But if the coaching staff can get some confidence into him and perhaps change the way he plays (I think he should be more of a powerhouse striker, much like Shearer was) then maybe, just maybe, we might have someone quite useful on our hands. Rigters/Shearer.
Muddboy Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Rigters/Shearer. I meant that type of player. I'm not likening him to Shearer in terms of talent!
vintageadidas Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I would not even talk about them in the same sentence.
John Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 So this thread has now come down to potentially talking about how good Rigters can be! The fact Sam has him involved shows he must have some faith in him, albeit it we have F all other options...
BPF Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I would not even talk about them in the same sentence. Unless it was talking about former Rovers' players....hopefully.
RevidgeBlue Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I saw Rigters for the reserves at Leigh four or five times last year and he looks awful even at that level I'm afraid. Not as bad as Julio Santa Cruz though.......
John Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Where is Julio Santa Cruz these days, still with us? With Blackman, Rigters and Julio the future is bright and we should def play 4-4-2.
RoverRich Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Roberts wants to fight for place About half way down the article it says: "Talks are continuing with a couple of unnamed forwards although the club are unsure whether any deal will be sealed before the squad jet out to Australia on Thursday." Any truth in that I wonder or is it just guesswork cos they know we are after a striker? I hope we are still making progress in this hunt and hopefully we will see a new arrival sooner rather than later.
The Rover of Finland Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Just checked new academy profiles but the young Spanish defender wasn´t included. He did sign, didn´t he?
ada2020 Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Where is Julio Santa Cruz these days, still with us? With Blackman, Rigters and Julio the future is bright and we should def play 4-4-2. Seriously?
JAL Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Where is Julio Santa Cruz these days, still with us? With Blackman, Rigters and Julio the future is bright and we should def play 4-4-2. John, you've just mentioned the biggest collective bunch of no hope, out of their depth, offer absolutely nothing players at Rovers. For the love of Rovers the sooner John Williams and co. move these guys out of the club... the better !
LeftWinger Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I think a few have failed to spot John's sarcasm.
