I cannot see any valid argument for it not to have been.

The only alternative to me would be two officials on either goal line, play breaks so fast at times, there is no way current linesman can keep up with play puuting them in a position to make the vital calls.

WC, relegation, promotion and cup winners all decided currently on what could be a huge error.

FIFA are probably over joyed at the English getting hammered today after another awful decision.

IF England were actually good and lost by only 1 goal then maybe we would have seen a very strong case for FIFA to introduce video replays. Unfortunately the huge victory probably means it won't have as big an impact on FIFA's reputation.

Well I've emailed FIFA telling them why they should adopt goal-line technology. Mainly in 4 letter words. Probably will have no effect but made me feel a little better.

Another reason for video technology in the Argentina and Mexico match.

Goal was offside, the ref/lino see it on the replay on the big screen and realise their wrong but won't change their mind because they've already given it.

FIFA, sort it out. It's a complete embarrassment not just in the World Cup but in football around the world.

Getting worse- the big screen showed the Tevez goal was offside and everyone includng the officials could see they had made a humdinger of a mistake. But they are not allowed to change it.

give each team(borrowed from NFL) 3 red flags to challenge a decision, if you believe its wrong throw the flag and wait til the ball goes out and then check. if you are right you lose one flag only ,if your wroing then lose two (poss).

even simpler than that - just allow the refs to take a look at the replay. Would take less than 10 seconds for some decisions.

but I'm pretty sure Blatter is enjoying this. He's like a fat sultan sitting on top of his FIFA empire, laughing when complete cock-ups like this happen, then going on about how "human error is the tradition of the game".

Just let another official watch the game and talk with the ref whilst the game is on. The ref won't even have to wait 10 seconds to find out whats going on.

They have the fourth official on the sidelines just there to wind up the managers I think, why not sit him down with a tv and replay equipment? They already have earpieces it would take 10 seconds to watch a replay and make a decision.

There is not one decent reason for not using video replays.

I was annoyed how the BBC kept banging on about goal line technology and excusing the officials.

The linesman saw it perfectly, there was nothing blocking his view. If he was competent then technology wouldn't be needed.

Having said that I'm all for technology, football is the only major team sport in this country not to have it really.
