Stuart Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 This actually feels like positive news. Okay, it won't generate the revenue to bring in a new striker but a licensed cafe with TV screens showing Rovers games and a bigger shop sounds good. Well done to the club.
Hughesy Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Hopefully the new shopping centre with the likes of Primark will be busy too - so some nice passing trade their....worth a try if it improves revenues
Mattyblue Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Fair play that the club haven't given up on Blackburn town centre, even if thousands of shoppers have. The monstrosity that is 'the mall' plonked right in the middle of the town centre has killed the Church Street area.
EnglishChris Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Sounds like a good idea moving the shop to a bigger area, i went past that visitor centre today and it's in a good location so should get decent business going past there.
Greedy_Crawford Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Sure it will be an improvement on what is currently on offer. Fair play to the club for giving it a go
JAL Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Fantastic news but equally disappointing that the visitor centre is closing. For a towny like me, this and Costa coffee opening will offer two new venues to frequent, I just hope they get the ambience of the place right.
Ste B Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Is that where marleys used to be ? Shame that shut... used to be a good run there.
JAL Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Is that where marleys used to be ? Shame that shut... used to be a good run there. Yes. Hopefully the new shopping centre with the likes of Primark will be busy too - so some nice passing trade their....worth a try if it improves revenues If Blackburns Primark fails to reach or better the standard of the Blackpool primark store, then it will be destined to failure, simple as. We'll have to hope and pray that it makes the grade as a cheap, throw away, fashion and accessories retailer.

The monstrosity that is 'the mall' plonked right in the middle of the town centre has killed the Church Street area. A predictable back-handed compliment from Blackburn's serial slagger. A cursory look at the plans for the new Mall suggest that Church St is the very place where shoppers will be 'disgorged' from the complex via the new street fronted businesses (Primark, WHSmiths etc) Shame they are closing Rhubarbs to make way for the new Rovers development ... it was one of my favorite haunts for Saturday lunch with the family ... hope they can retain some of the old ambiance.

Apparently Blackpool primark is one of the better ones but every one I've Been in with the mrs was a mess apart from the surprisingly nice and well organises Liverpool one. Anyway good news about the shop I went in the town centre one today for my new shirt and the standard of service was varying, one guy couldn't do enough for me and was making conversation with a chap who appeared to have a disability and he was really good with him whilst another bloke working there was talking to his mate and moaning.

Blackburn's serial slagger? Didn't realise I had previous form? But anyway, now you've got me, I care a hell of a lot for my town and its massive decline is bloody painful to behold for me and most other Blackburners I know. If you think the amenities of the town centre are fitting for a town of 100000 residents and a borough of 140000, you need to get real. The extension of the mall is far too little too late, we are light years behind the competition.
Hughesy Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 The extension of the mall is far too little too late, we are light years behind the competition. Have to start somewhere though eh!?
JAL Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 The extension of the mall is far too little too late, we are light years behind the competition. Time to change it one would have thought. Cant believe how those newly laid, large, two foot square floor tiles look, and the impression it gives of extra space.I look forward to its completion with hopefully the vast majority of floorspace occupied in an economic era of massive regression.
Ben-2000 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Good one Rovers! With the Cafe Bar there too it should attract the public in general and not just Rovers fans looking for merchandise.
philipl Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Very positive news. Hopefully matches a gap in the market and promotes Rovers even more. Fingers crossed for a resounding success!
SAS Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Primark will attract shoppers from everywhere, so having the rovers store across from it will be an excellent move. Church street will be buzzing soon when it is all done.
broadsword Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Blackburn's serial slagger? Didn't realise I had previous form? I read it as "serial shagger" and wondered what that had to do with a tea bar.
AndyNeil Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I hope the new shop will bring new levels of customer service ... just been in to buy a brolly. Sales Assistant number 1 was behind the counter in the middle of the shop texting, while Sales Assistant 2 (who I think is the manager) asked, when I said "this brolly please" "is it pissing it down"?

Had similar myself. What is it with the retail sector that they employ the lowest common denominator as often as they can get away with? I would love to see the interview process - maybe its conducted by text or on facebook.
JAL Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Cafe Bar and bigger shop Excellent news for fans. Not so sure about the location, though. Location is fine, question is will there be a wifi zone for brfcs.com users. There'll be no hiding place for the manager and staff if things arent going right which should be a good thing. Just hope they dont use that crappy coffee that they use in the blues bar, as they'll be in the town centre a bit of quality is required. Had similar myself. What is it with the retail sector that they employ the lowest common denominator as often as they can get away with? I would love to see the interview process - maybe its conducted by text or on facebook. The retail sector is one of the lowest paid sectors thats probably why.

Businesses are under pressure over who they can employ and are definitely not allowed to summarily dismiss the ones that prove inadequate. A good sacking every now and then used to keep employees on their toes. Does anybody know if that chap could be dismissed outright for asking 'is it pissingdown'?
Majiball Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 It cannot be as bad as the LJMU one. It closes at 3pm, I generally like a coffee about 2:30pm. you go there and ask for one, only to get told no hot drinks. Hang on your a coffee bar, yes but we close at 3pm and we want to go home then. Farce.

I`d imagine its just misconduct, give em a verbal for it. As for texting, phones shouldnt be allowed on anyone in a customer service based environment.
