Completely wrong. The idea of incarceration is to protect society. Punishment and correction comes 2nd and 3rd.

It has just been decided that Peter Sutcliffe will spend the rest of his days in gaol. Quite right too. I expect you'd have given him a pat on the head, smile of admonishment and a library ticket as you put him on the bus at the prison gates!

I doubt there is a "one size fits all" approach. Some people are dangerous to society, and always will be and therefore must be permanently excluded.

I am not against innovative alternatives to prison. As the tories used to say, prison is an expensive way to make bad people worse. However, whatever punishment is handed down must always be that, a punishment. Punitive deterrents are required. However, if a criminal can be rehabilitated and that can be factored into their punishment, then that has to be for the common good.

Me neither. Exporting them to serve their sentences in some 3rd world country would save money and prob put a stop to the prison drug problem too imo. Anythings worth a try.

I haven’t seen the details. But the reasons are because of the entire PC correct Human rights do gooders say the criminals have rights but the victims don’t.
