sambo Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 People are saying they don't want a tacky badge - I agree. However, although I am perfectly happy with the current badge, this design is far from tacky. If we were to change it, I'd be delighted with this Good effort pal

Ben-2000 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 What's tacky about it? There's nothing bling, or ridiculously coloured. We've not added 'BLU SOX' to our name. Surely you can articulate a little something about what you don't like? I was getting at my later comment about some of the recent badges of other clubs that look awful... if the club was going to change it, it would more than likely be all modernised and jazzed up with no traditional features necessarily. Imagine ending up with the Rovers eqivalent of this.... interesting comments on that here The Rovers crest has been around for years... prior to 1989, just not on the shirts for whatever reason. There's nothing wrong with it! Poll would be a good idea as already mentioned.

The typography, weight, and contrast is all textbook. however, it says nothing about the history of the club, which is more important. The fulham logo could easily be a logo for Fred's Fantastic Cotton. that's what needs to be done with Rover's mark. Just freshen it up a little bit with some good design, but make sure the history remains prevalent.
Exiled in Toronto Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Imagine ending up with the Rovers eqivalent of this.... If you look very carefully, you may notice that Texas Rover's designs look nothing like this.
doctorryan Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Change will happen sooner or later. No it won't. that's what needs to be done with Rover's mark. Just freshen it up a little bit with some good design, but make sure the history remains prevalent. Nothing needs to be done with the Rovers' badge.
JAL Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I feel sorry for you Texas Rover that you think there is a need to change our magnificent Rovers club badge.
Mc Love Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I feel sorry for all the people that think change is a bad thing especially as we are about to change owners
doctorryan Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Change is good when it's needed. Change is bad when it's unnecessary and does not offer a stark improvement. We're not changing the badge little children. Get over it.

Get over it. my apologies then, i didn't realize you were in charge of that stuff... only kidding this whole thing was only done out of fun. offending anyone was never the intention

We're not changing the badge little children. Get over it. No I wouldn't think that WE'RE going to change the badge. I will speak to the club about it though. I imagine it could generate some extra cash and local interest in the club. The end of an era. I might even speak to local tattoo artists , see if they will do a discount on amending badge tattoos.
broadsword Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Change is good when it's needed. Change is bad when it's unnecessary and does not offer a stark improvement. That's a matter of taste.

Revidge's Living Room You Guys. I like it, I'll take one!
1864roverite Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 TR you dont need to apologise to anyone, there is nothing wrong with your ideas.
BPF Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 TR you dont need to apologise to anyone, there is nothing wrong with your ideas. Agreed. I was hanging my new Rovers Air Freshner in my car this morning. As I finished tying it on, I sat back and thought "I wish I could buy one with Texasrovers' design."

As I finished tying it on, I sat back and thought "I wish I could buy one with Texasrovers' design." I looked at the logo printed on my freshly minted season ticket and thought, "The rose is proper wonky, damn you Texas Rover, I'd never noticed before."
dannydisco Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Have you noticed the logo the Telegraph use? Wrong font, wrong colour, wrong background (with an added gradient) and wrong angles for 18 75!
texasrover Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 Have you noticed the logo the Telegraph use? Wrong font, wrong colour, wrong background (with an added gradient) and wrong angles for 18 75! oh dear.
Andy Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I'm liking the idea of the changing the badge coinciding with a new era at Ewood and all designs on the first page are ace. Personally I prefer the contemporary design right at the bottom of the first page, I think that would look great on our shirt. In all honesty, our current badge does look a bit dated now and, as has been stated earlier on the thread, I'm sure there were some oldies complaining about change on every previous badge change in history. They'll get over and used to it. As for anyone with tattoos of the old design - serves you right for getting a football club emblem tattoed on you. It's like having a girlfriend's name tattooed - it's always liable to change
philipl Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 There has never been a change of club badge- what we have is our only ever badge. The shirts at the 1960 Cup Final had the town's coat of arms on them.

JAL Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I feel sorry for all the people that think change is a bad thing especially as we are about to change owners Did you know for all the Irish Rovers out there, the current badge has green, white and orange in it, though its easy to identify the green and white, sometimes the orange can be difficult to see as its sometimes depicted as red which isnt correct.
