SharrockDownSouth Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 So, now we have our fancy Home-Grown rules and 25-man squads, what happens with players over 21 who are transferred between Saturday and the closure of the transfer window? Is there anyway to draft them into the squad or do they have to wait till January?

roversfan99 Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 The deadline is on transfer deadline day i believe
SharrockDownSouth Posted August 10, 2010 Author Posted August 10, 2010 That could make for some mental panic-buys left, right and centre then with players left out of initial 25's and suddenly facing 6-months on the sidelines if they don't find a new club!!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Correct me if i'm wrong but I believe it's something like this: Before the squad deadline: Any player over the age of 21 has to be named in the 25 man squad if they are selected to play in a match. We can sign anyone before the end of the transfer window and register them in our 25 man squad as long as we've got enough room (inc. the home grown players too). After the squad deadline: If we sign a player out of contract who was 21 or under at the time of the squad deadline then they do not need to be named in the final 25 for the whole season. If we sign a player out of contract who is aged 22+ when the squad registration deadline has passed then he will have to wait until Jan transfer window when the squad list registration is open again. This could mean teams end up dropping some players to fit new players in or teams risking players who are injured and hoping they recover. Interesting times ahead!
