thenodrog Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Fixed it. When I see David Cameron sitting like Monty on top of a tank and leading the troops forward in Afghanistan I'll accept your version American.

RIML Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Can't see this pleasing RIML at all Also the link didn't work for me I don't mind. I watched an interview with Nelsen before the World Cup and he said something like..... it's just an extra piece of cloth and he wouldn't play differently with or without it. If it's no big deal to him, it's no big deal to me
T4E Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I know it is not 1 September yet but for those saying we are having an awful transfer window, I was 90% sure we would lose Samba this summer. Hence why no one else was worried.
American Rover12 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 When I see David Cameron sitting like Monty on top of a tank and leading the troops forward in Afghanistan I'll accept your version American. Aha fair enough, and you turned out to be right. I don't see how club captain is lower than team captain so I guess I missed that memo.
Hughesy Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Superb today once again - blocks, headers, tackles - he got the key ones in....Glad hes the captain
roversfan99 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 He looked a bit casual at the start of the match, was being a bit sloppy but he soon cut out the mistakes and dominated their attack.
Uddersfelt Blue Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Great game v Arsenal and thoroughly deserving the MOM award. Confirmed by a few of my non Rovers supporting mates who were really impressed. Fantastic both in defence and in attack.
Hughesy Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 So far he's showing exactly why he is captain - he also seems to really be enjoying himself at Ewood which is great to see.
SamTheShrew Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Good article on the big man. Disagree about his brother though - imagine what we could do with a raw 12 year old Samba mark II!
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Good article on the big man. Disagree about his brother though - imagine what we could do with a raw 12 year old Samba mark II! Good article. An interesting insight into his background - Always wondered why he chose Congo over France. Wonder if we might try again to bring in his brother when he is a bit older.
Bobby G Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 A brilliant performance yesterday. I think becoming captain has pushed his consistency and concentration levels up higher than before. Its evident in his game.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Good article on the big man. Disagree about his brother though - imagine what we could do with a raw 12 year old Samba mark II! I think we should try our best to get him over soon so we can get him eligible for England.
RIML Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 A brilliant performance yesterday. I think becoming captain has pushed his consistency and concentration levels up higher than before. Its evident in his game. Yesterday he kicked the ball up over his head gifting Man City a corner, he slapped his head in anger. Like he did when he missed that chance against Arsenal. He knows he can do better, which is good to see. Anyways can the mods change the title of this thread, Samba is Team Captain, Nelsen is Club Captain.
1864roverite Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 If you recall a certain Colin Hendry and his pride in wearing our shirt then Samba epitomises the team spirit amongst the players. he really could achieve legendary status at Ewood.
tony gale's mic Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Can't believe the people at Fantasy Premier League didn't feel he was worth bonus points! Another great performance. He's one of the very best defenders in the Premier League and as such surely he's not far off from being termed as "world class". I think although we all think he's a brilliant defender he doesn't get anything like the publicity he could do. I'm very surprised we've never (to my knowledge) recieved a serious offer for him. I wouldn't blame him if he wouldn't mind moving on soon - after all he's given us plenty of good service but at 26 is starting to get to the point of his career where he'll be at his peak and to be honest if I was him I'd have half an eye on moving to a Champions' League club.
SamTheShrew Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 If we get taken over we can firmly tell people where to go. The less exposure he gets, the better imo. I think Chris is generally happy at Ewood, and the captaincy is definitely bringing out the best in him. Long may it continue
Stuart Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Can't believe the people at Fantasy Premier League didn't feel he was worth bonus points! I was a bit miffed about that too!
bboy Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Was reading Man city forum yesterday, as bitter as some of them were the did comment how good samba was, they were even calling for them to sign him up. I do wonder how much longer we can keep him. If what JW says is true and we are now a trading club who no longer needs to sell then i'd say we should hold out untill we get a lescott style offer, who by the way doesn't even come close to samba in quality. Just hope there isn't any santa cruz style clauses we don't know about.
Amo Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 It goes without saying, but the takeover will be crucial to Samba's future. If Ali takes the reins and puts his money where his mouth is, it might be enough to convince Samba to stay on for the foreseeable future. If not... well we've been here before.
Ozz Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Was reading Man city forum yesterday, as bitter as some of them were the did comment how good samba was, they were even calling for them to sign him up. Certainly a better defender than Lescott.
rebelmswar Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 After reading Samba’s past in that article it would not surprise me if he has not developed an affinity to Rovers, and would wish to stay here. He had a promising career shattered and was thrown on the junk pile by a previous club – he has had his highs and lows, much like our club. He came here and was instantly given support and encouragement by the club – but more importantly by the fans. He will know this. Lately he has become the epitome of Rovers: dedication and sheer hard work with a bunch of skill. Samba exemplifies Arte et Labore, and is our perfect captain.
Hughesy Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 If Chris Samba was at United, Arsenal, Chelsea or maybe even Liverpool or Spurs then he would already be viewed as TOP CLASS by all. Our best player by FAR!! Hopefully we get the takeover to build a better team around him.

True, and you would hope that would be the case, but then you could have said the same for some of our previous stars that left as well.
gumboots Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Samba, money can't buy spirit Well we didn't play for corners on Saturday did we?
