Backroom Tom Posted August 31, 2010 Backroom Posted August 31, 2010 I think maybe the work permit thing is a front and his club trying to save face and introduce him back

ada2020 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 What's wrong with that? He came in on a free as well. Where we went wrong was that when we signed him as cheap" back up to Emerton we didn't need to then sign either Chimbonda or Salgado imo. It's probably because he likes Jacobson more than chimbonda, I think the real point is that chimbonda is probably on more cash per week than Jacobson so if we are going to let someone go on a free then why not chimbonda?
RevidgeBlue Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Most disappointing transfer window since the summer of '95? Is this window where we didn't buy anyone and didn't sell anyone any worse than last summer's when we "spent" minus sixteen million and saw Chimbonda coming in for Warnock? Both equally gruesome imo and we won't survive many if any more.
philip369 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 because to any potential club chimbona isn't free. he'd cost a fortune over the period of his contract.
steo Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 are you 100% sure that popov was denied a work permit? where did you find that out?i do not believe the captain of litex lovech and the future of bulgarian football was refused a work permit.
67splitscreen Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Would this work permit have been refused if we were another team? Just out if interest, were anyone else refused a work permit in the Prem during this season's transfer window, does anhone know? Can the deal still be done if it's all signed and an appeal is successful? West Ham refused with the player from Ajax Sulij----- what ever and Man Utd were snuffed with one last season, pretty sure Nicko mentioned it at the time. Edit Man Utd 2009 Adem Ljajic 10m rated Serbian was refused.
tony gale's mic Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Is this window where we didn't buy anyone and didn't sell anyone any worse than last summer's when we "spent" minus sixteen million and saw Chimbonda coming in for Warnock? Both equally gruesome imo and we won't survive many if any more. To be fair, last summer's transfer window by definiton was a successful one since the end result was a good one. We covered a hole in our budget and still managed to significantly increase our league performance.
1864roverite Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I am wondering why there hasnt been any comments from the club, either to the press, radio or tv ? It would enhance the perception of the club, stop the negative rumour mongering and certainly would placate the doubting support. maybe Miss Thiem can teach them about positive media relations
Texan Rover Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 All you lot screaming that the club "owes" you an honest accounting of funds: would it make you happy if the chairman sold out one of the club's current players by saying "we don't have any money because it's going to Salgado's wages"? I don't know whether this is true or not, and neither do you. But suppose it were the case. Would you still prefer honesty? Would you still insist the club "owed" you the truth? Get over yourselves. The club owe you no such thing. They're trying to win football matches and run a business. Oh yeah, and for whoever it was that suggested that West Brom, Wigan, and Wolves have better sides than Rovers... God, that was good for a laugh.
steo Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 if salgados wages are so high and thats why we couldnt sign anyone why announce that there was MONEY to spend when there clearly isnt.i wouldnt of minded if JW just came out and made it clear there was no money available unless we sold some players.
duffbear Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Rigters left on loan http://www.rovers.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10303~2141123,00.html

Salgado is earning so much the new owner is setting aside £30 million from the proposed budget, just to keep him until the end of the season.

Perhaps they can run the club however they wish. Perhaps we owe them blind obedience. Perhaps we don’t deserve better than hollow promises and twists of the truth. Just remember your post when that day comes when you go through a drive thru and are asked “Whadu be wantin” Just meekly accept the discourtesy and eat your meal. Eat every crumb and smile that you got your burger.

philip369 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 from the owners acting in the best interest of the club, to all of us being 'dissed' at a drive thru. Always serious?
LeChuck Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 if salgados wages are so high and thats why we couldnt sign anyone why announce that there was MONEY to spend when there clearly isnt.i wouldnt of minded if JW just came out and made it clear there was no money available unless we sold some players. John Williams has said that Salgado's wages were budgeted for by changing our predicted finish from 13th to 11th. Do a bit of simple arithmetic and you work out Salgado is earning somewhere between £28k and £43k. It's not unreasonable to guess the mean of those figures is close to the truth. A lot by our standards, but not an obscene amount. Steven Reid was probably on the lower end of those figures, so his departure will cover a huge chunk this year. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, thief Very harsh! He's happily gone out on loan a few times, and has been on trial at clubs but was apparently too crap to earn a contract. He was off to Scotland in January before we pulled the plug after Dindane fell through. I don't think he's a Zurab, clinging to every penny of his contract, I think he was just too rubbish to generate proper interest.
1864roverite Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 So thats another player effectively "gone" from the pay roll as he is at the end of his contract at the end of this season, joining Zurab. I am hearing the Jacobsen deal has gone through although it has yet to be confirmed as a free transfer or as a loan deal. I am led to beleive there are still deals being checked paperwork wise involving "foreign" players who ply their trade in England and abroad (the pennant deal still to be ratified to Stoke). Maybe Nicko can provide any updates as to whether this is actually true and also whether any other deal could actually involve Rovers.
Backroom Tom Posted August 31, 2010 Backroom Posted August 31, 2010 Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, thief No need for that at all its not his fault he isn't as good as Mark Hughes thought he was. All the best Maceo
rebelmswar Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 from the owners acting in the best interest of the club, to all of us being 'dissed' at a drive thru. Customer service. Courtesy. Deadly.
Hughesy Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Summary of the day then..... Rigters gone on 12 month loan (until end of his contract) Zurab gone on 12 month loan (until end of his contract) Josh Morris on loan Judge on loan till Jan Jacobsen gone on freebie to West Ham Lots of average fringe players out - but nothing in, which is what is dissapointing fans!
USA Rover Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Very harsh! Fair enough. He's got to be up there for Hughes' worst signing. He was basically on our books for 3 years at 10-15K per week. He played in TWO league matches. Who scouted this kid? He was terrible in the Dutch league and had one really good U21 tournament.
philip369 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Hmmm check out the principal of elasticity of demand. Not that this tangent validates anything you said!
steo Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 All the best maceo,i hope he does well now he's gone home,he was once a very promising player i hope he scores plenty of goals and maybe we will get a fee for him in the summer.
