the only thing il lsay about Edixon Perea is his goalscoring record while at Bordeaux doesnt fill me with confidence. 3 goals in two years isnt that great. Does anyone know if he was injured or anything around that time.

His record in south america isnt so bad but still average.

We need to sign a striker now!!

I hope this is the transfer thread - I can't tell

A striker is not what we need most. We desperately need a midfielder with some creativity.

Yep and it worries me that we don't seem to be trying to find one. Kalinic played well today, but we just can't create enough chances, even when totally on top.

We had 15 or more shots at goal and create chances. we need a experience striker who put the ball in the back of the net!!!!

The thing is I'm sure we will stick with the 4-5-1 formation so you are right, spending a lot on a striker seems pointless.

This Popov looked like the kind of player we could do with, someone to unlock defences.

Damn I wish we'd have signed Huddlestone when we were constantly linked

15 or more shots at goal? Is that including the preseason and Everton-game? We had like 3 shots on goal today.

the stats say we had 4 shots on target, 7 shots off target and 4 blocked shots. We also had 12 corners!!!

Take it for what its worth, but at 21 Aug 2010 12:55:28:

If the Syed takeover happens, Sam wants Asmoah Gyan (12 million), Jermain Jenas (8 million), Steve Sidwell (4 million), Benjani (free).

http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/

Anything that is wrote on that site needs to be took with a bucket of salt, it only gets busy in the summer holidays when the kids are of school.

None of the players on that list are worth that (that includes Benjani) and none of them would improve our team much apart from Jenas.

About time this thread was renamed due to lack of interest.......

What is REALLY going to be important to us is the WINTER transfer topic :xmas:

Fife.... It's been perfectly clear for almost a decade now that if a manager wants to put a new player onto the wage bill then he has to get an old one off it first.

Do you think I don't know that Theno?

So instead of trying to tell your grandad how to suck eggs why don't you give us all your solution as to how solve the problem? Given that no club has shown any interest in signing Roberts so far, and that he himself is obviously happy to see out his contract whilst drawing his large salary and doing nothing to earn it, and that the only striker that we can say for sure will replace him (as things stand today) is Benjani.

I reckon my suggestion is more than reasonable in these circumstances. But now over to you Theno for one of your famous "I will show them all how to think" demonstrations.

Well if we are going to buy anyone good, let's just hope that happens before the Arsenal game. 9 days to go before the window closes anyway...

Jason Roberts is a great professional who has always done his best and worked hard for every club he has played at. If he took to the pitch for us, he would keep on trying. The guy is in training every day, working hard on his fitness. It is very well known that he dedicates a lot of his time to a superb charity. If anyone earns a salary, it is Jason Roberts.

Was'nt it only today that the manager was talking about 18 players in our squad not being enough, if you look further into that im sure Sam was basically saying that if we get the cash from the takeover players wont have to be sold.

A lot of ifs and buts, BUT if the takeover does happen you guys may have to find something new to discuss.

I know all that as well. If you had read my earlier posts way back you would see that I had been arguing the very same as yourself and making a case for keeping Roberts. It was one of these that Theno has taken issue with me about.
