Fact is Sam has spent weeks watching Benjani in training so he must believe he will stay fit and add something to the squad. We have to trust Sam's judgement on players like Benjani and I am willing to get behind him. He would never have been my first choice but he is a Rover now so time to support him. Kalinic and Diouf have the quality to score plenty of goals so Benjani can come in and do the donkey work for them with any goals he gets a bonus in my eyes. Hopefully we will soon have Popov or Avdic as well so there should be more than enough quality/goals in that quartet for us, especially compared to the past 2 seasons.

nicko please tell us that we are about to announce the signing of Popov and that will take the heat out of Benjani signing..... y'know the old "good day to bury bad news" line

I'm sorry but the logic behind Benjani's signing sounds something like this: "We really wanted to get a better striker in, so we put Roberts up for sale. But we couldn't buy anyone, and no one wanted to take Roberts, who after all this probably won't play for us again regardless, and we're only left with two strikers for the season, so, umm...here's Benjani."

Benjani, despite his injury problems, is a good player. He's not an out an out goalscorer but I'd say he's a better finisher than Jase.

If Sam thinks he can do a job, I'm all for it.

Lets be seeing that pointy celebration in the 90th minute tomorrow! (Assuming he can play)

Now that he has officially signed this is an article I found last week which gives a factual history of Benjani`s football career to date.Interesting that his career began at the rovers! Lets hope this is a good move for him and his knee problems are resolved. If Wenger can see something in him then I am quite happy to support him.

Yet another signing who hasn't had a pre-season or worked with the team.

We've known since January our budget and the need to sign some strikers; the result 8 months later is Benjani and a favour from Fergie. Not good.

What happens if Roberts doesn't leave???

But the problem we have, and what supposedly needed to be addressed this summer was that we had no one who could stick the ball in the back of the net.

The problem remains.

The problem is that we have no money.

perhaps mame diouf can score some goals.we get linked with all these great strikers its like heres what you could have had but sorry you can't afford any of them but the consolation prize is Benjani.we waited all summer for an ageing average striker.im praying either popov or avdic signs.

I won't boo him, but I won't cheer him either.

Why exactly what has he done for that?

He can't win in this one it seems same as Keith, if he makes a mistake people start preparing effigies but when he makes a good pass or tackle, silence.

Typical negative response from Rovers fans, blame a guy who is trying to do his best because the club have no money!! Great

So when he scores you are just going to sit there stony faced are you?

I don't think banjoni can point as well as Keith ... He is world class at that!

Welcome benji

I guess the best word for me to sum this up is 'meh!!'

I'm not overly bothered either way about the signing. I'll cheer him in the same way I cheer any rovers player. I wasn't for the signing and I wasn't against it. Sam's had the lad in training for the last couple of weeks so he must have proved his fitness and ability.

Got to be worth a punt to score on his appearance just to p*ss off all the doom merchants on here. Good luck to the lad, hope the blue and white half's turn him into a goalscorer.

All the best banjoni, please show us where the barn door is.....
