There is a bit of surprise transfer news...

The 11 o'clocker will return.

PS...interesting that Sam is still in the area.

Inference being perhaps that he is still here to conclude a transfer deal.

The surprise is there is no surprise and nobody will be signed

Hopefully not the Birmingham area - this board will go into meltdown and we'll need a suicide watch. ;)

Hoorah !!!!!!!!!!

Would not be surprised if it's either Jo or RSC (either on loan) given that City are supposedly acquiring another striker in exchange for Robinho.

Benjani's brother, pyjami, is signing, much like Julio followed Roque in..

Its either Sam trying to tie up a deal, or he is busy taking the last of his pencil crayons with him to Villa. ;)

Nicko is it true villa have approached a premier league club about the vacant managers job?

I think Villa know who they want and have possibly approached that person.

But I don't think the first choice wants it.

Don't know if they have got to the second choice yet.

first choice must be Moyes or possibly Hughes.

Little concerned Sam's price is dropping

Sam wouldnt be near the top of their list. Villa could attract a bigger name. Id even suggest they'd go for Owen Coyle before Sam simply on their styles of play.

The same Aston Villa that had Martin 'long-ball' O'Neill as their previous manager?

What style is that?

Im sure Coyle would leap at the job. Must be scratching his head with life at Bolton. When he went back he was touted as a hero and yet the crowds are falling and lower than under the hated Gary Megson. Add in the fact he has no money to spend and is having to work with Megson's players half of whom can't trap a bag of cement im sure he would be off in a flash.

The difference between Coyle and Allardyce is Sam has proved he can get clubs into the top half on a shoe string.

This is far from a priority when ever you look at the other areas of the team that need sorted out, but I've always liked this player. If a loan were possible it would be good, as he is a natural left back, allowing Givet to play in the centre where he is at his best and mean that Chimbonda could be moved on as well and not be the cover at left back. As I said though, this is far from a priority and we should be looking to strengthen up front and the midfield first.

Just looked at a Villa messageboard and there is almost zero support and a fair amount of hostility towards Sam. Perhaps it is noteworthy that none of our regular Villa-supporting visitors to the MB ave considered it worthwhile posting here although Tom posts on the Villa board he has been tipped off by a Rovers supporter that they are in for Sam....

Nobody has cracked the mystery number 1 target's identity but they are pretty confident an approach has gone to a Premier League club and that if they are successful the appointment will cause a big shock.

At the same time they are supposed to be starting interviewing their shortlist tomorrow and names like Houllier, Erikson and Pearce are in the frame for interview.

The names they are excited by are Moyes and (remarkably) McLeish.

Back to transfers and nothing spotted concerning Rovers although Bouma has left Villa for PSV after spending the last five years injured apparently..

Hope it's a striker. Think it's Advic the striker. Maybe Roberts and Jacobsen leaving aswell.

Villa 1st choice for the manager job is David Moyes. Reckon second choice would be Curbishley.

As long has it's not Big Sam for the Villa Manager job.
