Stuart Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 This is far from a priority when ever you look at the other areas of the team that need sorted out, but I've always liked this player. If a loan were possible it would be good, as he is a natural left back, allowing Givet to play in the centre where he is at his best and mean that Chimbonda could be moved on as well and not be the cover at left back. As I said though, this is far from a priority and we should be looking to strengthen up front and the midfield first. (sorry Roy)

LeChuck Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 The same Aston Villa that had Martin 'long-ball' O'Neill as their previous manager? There is a very good point in there actually. If Villa go for someone radically different to O'Neill (let's say Coyle), it could take a few transfer windows before the new manager had a team capable if playing in their own style. That transitional period could cost a lot in league placings. If they wanted someone to come in and be successful with the squad O'Neill has assembled, is there anyone better for the job than Big Sam who fulfils the 'Premier League experience' criteria and is realistic? In footballing style, he and O'Neill are cut from similar cloth.
Eddie Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I think that current Villa squad is capable of playing a better style. They have players like Petrov, Young and Ireland who could all do that from midfield. They have pace up front and even Carew can play football. They also have fullbacks who do a decent job of being involved in attacking play (as we know with Warnock). Much like Allardyce does with us, the manager has made them play that way because that's what he likes, not because he can't do anything more stylish or adventurous.
koi Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Moyes would be an exceptional manager to land - he would certainly be top of my list if I was about to purchase Rovers and invest a few hundred mil, Coyle would be on the list too.... Just can't see us bringing anyone in now.
Amo Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Moyes would be an exceptional manager to land - he would certainly be top of my list if I was about to purchase Rovers and invest a few hundred mil, Coyle would be on the lost too.... Same here. If Sam did leave, Moyes would be perfect for Rovers, takeover willing.
roversam Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 ladbrokes suspended betting on moyes for villa job
blue/white Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I imagine Sam can be seen sporting a similar pose, until he gets his hands on the cash in January! Maybe Sam's gone done to Espana to replicate that tan?
nicko Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 The 11 o'clocker may be worth a read...for a change. 1...a possible surprise exit. 2...a target who is about to go where he wanted to in the first place. 3...a weekend target who has gone elsewhere. 4...a trialist who has found a new home.

Doesn't sound too good.
budha Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Doesn't sound too good. 1 out, 0 in. And the out a player we're not looking to offload. Sounds about right.

brfcshabba Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 4... Perea? Looks like Hercules in Spain want Popov
The Rover of Finland Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Maybe Grella goes after all. Would make me happy. I know, it´s not 11 yet.
RoverRich Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 So our only hope is that a target wanted to come to us in the first place and will be getting his wish. Otherwise that 11 o'clocker doesn't sound too inspiring for Rovers fans. Unless Nicko is referring to someone like Perea/Popov finding a new home in Manchester cos they are signing for us

Just can't see us bringing anyone in now. Why is Moyes held in such high esteem! He's an alright manager but i would'nt go overboard, he's spent shedloads, spent 5m+ on virtually every player, amassed a huge wage bill and been given loads of time even when they where doing rubbish to get the squad he's got now. suprise player possibly leaving, could'nt possibly be jones there would be lynchings. I'll guess Andrews/jacobson
chilly Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 i reckon the exit is emerton.. if not then nelsen or givet... Popov to hercules.. hopefuly avdic in. Roberts to wolves tomorrow grella to maybe a turkish side..
Balwer Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Guessing the target getting his original wish is Gudjohnsen to a London club?
Ricky Posted August 30, 2010 Author Posted August 30, 2010 Andrews or emerton out would be my guess. Wonder if the trialist is popov?
Balwer Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Surprise exit rules out the following: Roberts Zurab Brown Rigters Jacobsen Grella
