Don’t know if people were taking the p**s as I walked into the account this morning – “are you expecting a busy day at Blackburn, any potential signings”?

Out of interest, will we be the first Premier League club to spend no transfer fees in the summer window?

At least we had some reassuring news on the takeover overnight…..no smoke without fire and all that.

:angry2:

And we haven't received any either. Atleast that combination could be the first if the situation stays.

Edit: damn, some sites mention the Brazilian youngster Ferdandez being bought for "nominal fee".

I'm looking forward to an exciting day on this thread. Finally, after months of speculation we will know, FOR CERTAIN, that we aren't signing anyone. Put that to bed, once and for all.

And what a blessed relief that will be!

Personally, I think this Popov thing will go through and he'll be a good player. I hope so and I think it's a cool name.

(Anyone care to make a list of famous Popovs, from memory - I presume that someone has mentioned Mrs Popov from Renta-Ghost, was there a bad guy Popov in a Bond film?)

The LT also states that unless Roberts goes there's unlikely to be any further activity.

Abysmal window if true, Reid and Di Santo out and in, a knackered freebie for 12 months and a promising loanee without any option to purchase.

And the McCarthy money seemingly vanished.

A chilling look into the future if a takeover doesn't go through soon.

I suppose it would be best to reserve judgment until the window has closed, but going on the comments being made I would say that this is a disgrace.

A loan and a useless lump are all we have to show for a summer transfer window, even by our standards this is a new low.

We have spent absolutly nothing.

Serious questions need to be answered now, where has the Beni money gone to? and why did we see no money for finishing higher than budgeted? Extra TV revenue?

And before anyone spouts ###### about Salgado's wages I dont want to hear it, its been done before and has never sounded right to me, we are never in this world paying him anymore than Roberts.

This is not prudent it is taking the ###### quite frankly, and Sam's apparant annoyance at the whole situation confirms it for me that soemthing is not bloody right about all this.

I think that interview came BEFORE the Wigan interest in Roberts put a flicker in the corpse...

Like I say, if Jason goes and nobody comes in there will quite a rumpus.

I cant see a rumpus if Roberts leaves. He's not in the squad now so what's the issue? We've signed Benjani who can be no worse than Roberts and Diouf looks like a very good loan signing so that's a good replacement for Di Santo. So all in all we're in a better position than we were when we were doing very well at the back end of last season. I'm looking forward to seeing Benjani and hope he can find the form he had at Pompey. Pedersen is like a new signing with his displays so far this season, Jones is doing a terrific job when asked to play in midfield and with the likes of Olsson, Emerton and N'Zonsi pushing for a place we're not looking too bad.

Our displays so far are very promising for the season ahead so I don't see what the drama queens are getting all worked up about. We were never going to make any major signings this window so lets get on with it.

There's no point in holding stuff back today - it will all be out in the wash.

The Roberts to Wigan thing is very live but the word I have just got is that Di Santo is ready to go to Wigan too...as of five minutes ago.

Wigan were being messed around by Chelsea yesterday - pushing the player to a Dutch club for some reason while Martinez struggled to raise the funds to buy him.

However Di Santo wants to stay in the Prem and expects to go there today.

So Wigan are in the strongest position on this and will have their pick between Di Santo and Roberts.

That leaves Rovers hoping they can do a good deal for their unwanted striker.

Or else we all go back to bed.

Any news on how the J bob deal is progressing? If it happens, it must be done quickly!

Edit: never mind, see above

We may spent nothing but in my opinion the team is looking much better that this point last year.

We may only have 3 points, but the performance against Brum and the first 45 mins against Arsenal show the team has improved from sticking together and not having many ins and outs.

What is the point in spending what little we do have on dross?

There are clubs in this league which are in much worse positions than us so nothing is really urgent is it?

If money is as tight as we are all believe then we need to be very prudent with our purchases and not just spend for the sake of it.

Things can't be that bad as Keef can't even get a game!

There is no doubt we could do with some extra quality but can we afford that at the minute?

Andrews is injured. And there aren't many clubs worse off and those that are are still trying to do deals. Sometimes teams benefit from a small change in personnel - we don't need marquee signings, but a new face might work wonders.

Good points but a blind man on a galloping horse can see that we do desperately need to replace David Dunn.

Bit early to write him off completely just yet surely.

Having said that we have needed another creative midfielder for at least five or six seasons now.

At least we still have plenty of bodies to put in midfield even if not the quality. Still think the striking positions are the priority. Injuries to Diouf and/or Kalinic and we might be reduced to watching Samba lumbering around up front again.

And of course in twelve months time we will be very much back to square one with potentially only Kalinic on the books.

I agree we have played well but we aren't scoring which is a worry.

Roberts out, Popov in is a realistic hope for today. I have my fingers crossed! Litex might drop their price as the window comes to a close.

Why not loan Caicedo from City? They wouldn´t be against it and the player probably would be happy to come. A Loan deal with an option to make it permanent. We could still use possible Roberts money on Popov who isn´t a striker.

BTW, why do have 4 goalies on books? If Bunn is number 2 we should get rid of Brown.

I'll be over the moon if that happens Joey, but it's no disaster if it doesn't.

Very short term thinking that imo. Like I said, we could be down to one permanent striker in twelve months time and can we even be absolutely certain that Diouf won't be recalled in January?

BETTING ADVISORY

Those who backed Gudjohnsen to Fulham last night should cover their bets by backing him to go to Stoke...both clubs are still trying to get him.

Reminds me of Beattie last January....whats the odds he ends up back at Spurs!
