Amo Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Heard yesterday we are going to offer him an improved deal. Handing 'em out like confetti, aren't we? I'm all for securing our assets, but he (like Samba) already signed a long-term deal.

HemelRover Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Jones completed his first day back on grass with his boots on yesterday. (from his twitter) Thats brilliant news!
Exiled_Rover Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Handing 'em out like confetti, aren't we? I'm all for securing our assets, but he (like Samba) already signed a long-term deal. That's Williams' m.o. and it's why we struggle with the wage bill.
Valois Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 I'm hoping we will be shipping out a lot of the dead wood in the squad during the summer, which will offset these new contracts. I'm all for securing our assets, although we all know contracts can mean nothing these days when the big boys come a knocking.
Neil Weaver Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Jones is to get a new contract too soon, can anyone confirm? Yep, from yesterday's LT...... The Rovers boss also revealed the club are trying to get teen sensation Phil Jones to sign an improved and longer deal than the five-year contract he signed in the summer as Rovers look to secure their prized assets for the long term. Kean looking to create 'untouchables'
SAS Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Jones has just posted on twitter. 'Great news from my surgeon today. Back running properly now. Not long now before i'm back now. Good luck to the boys tonight' Good news
67splitscreen Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 Read that myself yesterday, sounds like he is ahead of schedule. Hope he does not try to rush things along, it's not like we are desperate for his services, all the same will be good when he is selectable again.
FourLaneBlue Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Yep, from yesterday's LT...... Kean looking to create 'untouchables' Hang on, he's already on a 5-year contract and he's just coming back from a bad injury...and we are offering him an even longer deal? I'm all for keeping our potential stars of the future...but aren't we just throwing money at players here? At the very least, wait to see how he comes back from injury. When will be the next, improved contract after this? In the summer?
67splitscreen Posted February 6, 2011 Author Posted February 6, 2011 Kean, Jones three - four weeks away from selection. Hope there are no set backs for the lad. My link
92er Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Kean, Jones three - four weeks away from selection. Hope there are no set backs for the lad. My link I hope we don't rush him back, but he might be very important in the run-in.
rover_groo Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Fielding had a good strong game for U21s today and thwarted an early Italian strike in 12th minute. I think the club should be aware of possible interest in him when the summer comes around. Browner's contract ends at the end of this season and despite Bunn signing a new contract I would expect to see more of Fielding next season. As his contract ends in 2012 and the fact that he's a very young keeper, the club need to tie him down as well as Robinson.
