[Archived] Car Insurance To Rocket This Year!

Recommended Posts

A car insurance renewal Quote I received today for the same car was a shocker...an increase in premium from £400 to £900 for no reason.Perhaps everyone else can expect the same..A cheaper provider is being sought but looks like we are all to be strung this year.

What company is that with? Mine is due for renewal in October, and I tend to stick with the same company as it's a lot cheaper than what others offer me.

Almost every year my renewal quote has been significantly higher than the figure I have got. You have to keep moving around thesedays, they seem to have no intention to implement a customer retention policy by competitive pricing, instead they rely upon customers being too lazy to shop around and in all likelyhood probably get a good level of business through that.

I change insurance companies every year, every time I get a renewal quote it has always gone up from the previous year, always wonder how it can when I haven't claimed and my car and circumstances are the same.

Always remember in my younger days I looked at a second hand Escort XR3I, it was about £2000 and when I made an enquiry for insurance, this was third party fire and theft as well, I was quoted £2500 how can insurance cost more than the car is actually worth.

Add in the stuff like parked in garage/ drive at night etc

Which is fine if it is parked on a driveway or garage overnight. If it's not and you claim it is can you really see an insurance company paying out if your car gets nicked when parked on the road outside your house.

So your policy states you cant stay at someone else's house or a hotel or whatever??? What if their was a party at your house and therefore you couldnt park on the drive, and by later you had a drink so couldnt move it.

Seriously VERY few dont pay out if your not parked on your drive etc.

There really is no end to your insider info is there Hughesy? We can now add an intimate knowledge of the workings of the insurance industry to the very long list. What a fountain of information.

You don't know how things work do you. They won't go off what happened that certain night, they go round asking neighbours where you park your car, whether it is in a drive or not everyday. Insurance companies hate paying out. If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it.

You do talk some bull ---------- IC check all policy details prior to settling a claim. In the case of vehicles damaged / stolen from drive or garage the first thing the IC does is check that your address has a garage and driveway.

Easily done these days with Google or Multi Map

When I first started driving the insurance on my 205 GTI was £2500 for the first year TPFT. I got a letter through for the renewal at £1500. I tried one of these comparison sites, and the best price was actually through my existing insurer at £900. So rather than just renewing, I joined them as a new customer and saved £600. They then sent me a letter asking me to send evidence of my no claims bonus. I phoned them and told them that if they posted me evidence of my no claims bonus, I would post it back to them straight away. Luckily they realised this was a pointless exercise.

I decided to try a few qoutes today as my insurance is due next month and sure enough the cost has gone up by a considerable amount, last year I paid 360.00 this year the best was 540.00 with a 500.00 excess and that is from 3 price comparison websites.

I have 10 years NCB and dont drive an expensive car so for the me the quote's I have recieved are just pathetic, if the prices continue to rise more people will just find it harder to pay, I find it amazing that I drive carefully and make sure I dont have accidents only to be rewarded with an increase every year  .

Paid £1100 last year, got my renewal quote through the post today and been quoted £2500!! that's including my discount of £600!

Shocked!

Tried comparison websites and the cheapest I seem to find is £2300. Any other companies I should try?

I understand that sometimes in the past if you rang your company and got a new quote, that could work out cheaper.

Thank mate you just saved me £500!

I got in contact with NFU, they do not insure drivers under 25, so that was out of the question. Got in touch with Blackfriars Insurance Group, they do not cover me on a 1.9, max they will go up to is a 1.6.

Rang up More Than, and asked why on earth my premiums had doubled, and she said the best she could offer me was £2000. That is by far the cheapest quote I have found, and speaking to my insurance broker, he also said tat is the best deal that you will get.

Those people that ahve 3 or more cars, and have experienced drivers in your family, then I would definitely recommend Blackfriars Insurance Group. They quoted me £1900 for 4 cars, and that is including 3 sports cars and VW Polo.
