[Archived] Rovers STILL not sold.

I said it when I took over the club and I'll say it again now, whatever it takes to get Blackburn Rovers to be a top six Premiership club, will happen. Jack Walker 1999

Wish you were still around Jack.

But, I think that the club is about to start on a brand new adventure and I'm excited to see what it will bring. Blackburn Rovers have brought me wonderful, unbeatable memories over the past twenty years and not being able to go to Ewood Park anymore is one of the hardest parts about moving away for me. It is an exciting but scary time for many reasons but life is all about enjoying the ride.

Wo9uld there not have had to be some sort of agreement in principle for him to be allowed to look at the books?

I don't know but I'd have thought that would be the case.

Yes. We know that Ali Syed has a Heads of Agreement (an outline contract of sale which surely includes numbers) in the Memorandum of Understanding that is now well into its 5th week.

And it seems that two other potential purchasers have reached their own "subject to" agreements with Rothschilds/the Trust which no doubt include sales price and the extent of their financial and other commitments to the Rovers.

From the takeover update, looks like we are going bought from a group from India. Wonder who the Mystery Bidder is? I would say that Mr Ali is in pole position at the moment because he the first one to go so far has looking at the club's accounts. not saying that I think he's the right one or not. I just don't want us to be like liverpool or man utd where we got a load of debt against the club. Both club's owners took out loan against the club and not use they own money. I want us to be own by somebody like Ellis Short of Sunderland, who has put his own money into the club and goes to the club's games. That the sort of person I wanted us to be own by!!!

:)

Man U and Liverpool used to make big profits which could be used to pay for the loans, we dont so it wouldn't be feasible to do so in our case. If I am wrong then I am sure Phillip will correct me.

Some info on Syed, according to this website he lives in Busaiteen, Al Muharaq, Bahrain which I think is the 'rich area' of the country. Firstly it is home to their 'Manchester United' in Al-Muharraq SC owned by Sheik Ahmed bin Ali AlKhalifa (a billionaire without a Wikipedia page nor known by Forbes if you've ever heard such a thing ;)). A quick peruse through estate agent websites for the area place the properties at pretty high prices, £250k for a 3 bedroom flat and £500k for a 5 bedroom villa.

That is of course if Mr Syed actually does live there.

You don't go into due dilligence without knowing the price of the club, that's why the the williams and others never got to that stage because they couldn't agree the purchase price...........

True, but if after the fourth week you then find you've got to extend the process further, maybe then the price can change aswell, upwards of course.

I'll buy into the principle of what Revidge blue has stated, that the asking price is higher than what we think it is.

I'm assuming that you mean this family who do have a Wiki page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Khalifa_family

I said he doesn't have a wiki page..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sh._Ahmed_bin_Ali_AlKhalifa

and he doesn't, I never claimed his relatives didn't have a page. He is the CEO of a company that recently made a billion dollar transaction, some people on here thinks that warrants your own wiki page.

 Alright, find me the wiki page for the Ali Syed family (billionaire family doing business for the last 150 years) or for Western Gulf Advisory.

Granted my argument was about eight million things other than wiki pages, but it's probably the only bit you could understand.

house prices seem exeptionally reasonable, costs way more down here in cornwall for the equivilent. Not sure there are any billionaires down here though, on the house price basis most homeowners here could live in the "rich" part of bahrain.

Why do I have to find a Wiki page for his family, my point remains niether man has their own Wikipedia page and yet both are owners of billion dollar companies and there is certainly no reason why I have to give you a wiki page for WGA as Mr Khalif's business Al Areen Holding Company doesn't have one either.

All this over a flippant remarks in brackets.....

But Cornwall isn't known as a heaven for investors and the wealthy like Bahrain is. I'm sure you could buy most houses in China for the sale of a decent size house in Cornwall too but that doesn't mean there aren't billionaires in China does it (which is what I think you're saying by implication)?

To be honest it is Samuel's usual rubbish. The gap between average gate and theoretical capacity at Stamford Bridge is the same reason Ewood has a 31,367 capacity but only 30,600 record attendance- many seats are simply not available for security reasons etc..

Abramovich reined back the spending some considerable time ago once Mourinho had assembled a world equalling squad and since then they have been maintaining it. Judging by this season's start, Abramovich has picked his football people vastly more intelligently than the Abu Dhabi boys have at City (or ever will by the look of things).

Chelsea's ticket prices might have been stabilised but only after they rapidly rose to eye-watering levels. An 8 person box is £85,000 a season for instance so rather like those people defending Man U's price rises choking off excess demand at OT, Chelsea got to that point four years ago.

It certainly doesn't feel cheap buying away tickets at Stamford Bridge!!!

The big growth in Chelsea revenue has been in global marketing. At the time we are opening a coffee shop in Church Street, Chelsea has started ChelseamegastoreUSA...http://www.chelseamegastoreusa.com/

interesting point that Philip, and one which i have been thinking about.

If Syed or whoever takes over, then their initial investment on players is to bring in quality early on, and then maintaining those players over a number of years.

The point you make about Chelsea is interesting, because Abromovich has obvioulsy tried to cut back on spending excessive amounts on players. The Chelsea squad is settled, so its now all about maintaining their salaries etc, and adding perhaps 1 or 2 new players a season.

I have a few questions regarding this takeover:

1. It has been confirmed that Mr Ali Syeds period of exclusivity has been extended? If so, how long?

2. Does anyone have an idea when the Trustees will make a decision on who to sell the club to? It seems as it has been going on forever?

3. Surely they would want this done as soon as possible so at least the manager will know where he has to strengthen & how much he has?

4. When it says the Syed group is still negotiating does that mean he has not yet agreed on a price or is it more a case of the trustees keeping their options open?

5. Do we know who the mystery Indian are & how much are they worth Nicko any clues?.

I see loads of Chelsea shirts around Adelaide, more than Manyoo, Scousers and Arsenal.

Samuel is a fat, beardy Cockney get. He talks about as much sense as Chas n Dave as well.

I have a few questions regarding this takeover:

1. It has been confirmed that Mr Ali Syeds period of exclusivity has been extended? If so, how long?

answer: another 3 months if my calculations are correct

2. Does anyone have an idea when the Trustees will make a decision on who to sell the club to? It seems as it has been going on forever?

answer: 1st February, after the transfer window has shut

3. Surely they would want this done as soon as possible so at least the manager will know where he has to strengthen & how much he has?

answer: They have realised, that there are more money for them to make.

4. When it says the Syed group is still negotiating does that mean he has not yet agreed on a price or is it more a case of the trustees keeping their options open?

answer: The trustees are keeping their pockets open

5. Do we know who the mystery Indian are & how much are they worth Nicko any clues?.

answer: Yes, Sunil Gavasckar

So, who are the mystery bidders? Earlier this week, Mukesh Ambani was ruled out and BRFCS can reveal today that the other party that has been strongly rumoured to be interested in Rovers, the TATA group, has told BRFCS that they are "not interested in purchasing a football club". Initially TATA had said that they "do not comment on rumour and speculation". The source at TATA did, however, confirm that the TATA family (including extended family) are spread out across India and many of them are billionaires in their own right, so it could be that a member of the TATA family has decided to purchase Rovers on a private basis. If this is the case, then the TATA group management would not necessarily be made aware of this as it would be a private investment by a member of the TATA family.

No offence guys but is this just guessing, or should I say hoping? According to Wiki, there are at least 57 billionaires from India (not including Syed of course) and over 100,000 millionaires and the mystery bidder(s) could be any one of them.

It's like hearing a whisper that an American is interested in us and you contacting Bill Gates and Warren Buffet to see if it's them. Wishful thinking but surely it's more likely to be someone we've never heard of (or known that widely at all) given the two Indians we do know about.
