bluebruce Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Number of posts in this thread: I'm currently working as an A&E doctor, which means I'm mostly doing 3pm til 1am shifts for four months with bedtime usually at 4am. So apart from helping save the lives of the general populace - no, I don't have much else better to do. If discussing the 5 live findings as some of us are doing is inane, then discussing the discussions is beyond inane. And you must be one hell of an inane person to be doing that... Well see, here is your problem...even when somebody is suggesting they don't mean any offence, you give offence. Thanks for the personal insult. Fair play you have a worthy job, but I'm talking about spare time, clearly. I wasn't talking about posts in THIS thread either, but the massive one that got closed down, and it is more a case of labouring the same point to death and the size of posts too (and don't get me wrong (again), I'm a rambler too). Rebelsmwar might have made the most posts, but the majority of his are brief quips I think? Without wasting my time checking. As for the inanity levels, until this post which you provoked with another sweet compliment towards me, my discussing the discussion was very brief, compared to the inordinate effort you put into your posts.

philipl Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Chelsea fans have found a certain advantage in having an owner with deep pockets and an interesting past who created his public persona as the owner of a PL club. Would Abramovich pass fit and proper if he were buying Chelsea today?
thenodrog Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Agreed, if Goldberg is in the driving seat, it's in a 1982 Skoda with no brakes rolling down a very steep hill into bullcrap creek He won't be alone when he gets their either imo. It'll already be half full of would be BRFC owners.
Bobby G Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 A bit quiet and the thread has degenerated a bit with less solid info other than the usual one or two people who have something to say. I was banking on this week being the last week before a take-over happens, but I am not too sure anymore.
philipl Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Total lock down on information at Rovers is working very effectively Bobby. Nothing which can even be hinted at. When it goes this quiet, a lot is happening. Always the way.
Brfcrule1 Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Hughesy, you say they are keeping all options open that to me suggests they are hoping for a bidding auction is that correct?. If that is the case won't Syed be a bit miffed as he has payed the 25K for DD if he loses the race?.Who do you think will win this battle?. Would you still say Syed is still the front runner?. Has Syed made a bid for the club now DD is finished?. If they do approve Syed when do you think they will invite him over to conclude the deal?. By the way on a seperate subject where is our very own resident insider with good links inside the club Kamy has he disappeared?, surely he will have some info on the subject.
thenodrog Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Ah methinks I've touched a nerve! I would have thought my withholding of comment would speak volumes in it's self( you see I like to be in possesion of the FACTS before ramming my two pennorth worth down others throats) or then I could have just been too busy blowing goats! There's the rub. It's quite clear that TGM is also requiring the facts too. The only fact is that we don't have the facts. Saed appears to be hiding them. imo Everybody should be suspicious of this chap given the tiny amount of knowledge which we have of him. We are all pinning our trust to the the Trust themselves and to Rothschilds. Rothschilds have an established but not flawless reputation and they give the impression that this guy is kosher so that should be OK BUT how have their investigations come to such a definite conclusion when the investigative team commissioned by the BBC couldn't? The fantasists amongst us appear unconditionally sold on Saed whilst the reallists are dubious and would like a few more questions answered. For example why does this bloke want to own a Premier League club at all? It's obvious that he just wants a Prem club whilst Jack Walker wanted to own BRFC. Owning a football club in the Prem as it stands is just about the quickest way to blow serious money outside of the casino at Monte Carlo so why would somebody who couldn't find Blackburn on a map a month ago want a part of that? Much less a financial expert. If BRFC was a valid financial investment there are plenty of billionaires within these shores who would be snapping the Walker Trusts hands off.... in fact the Walker Trust would not be selling in the first place so when this chap or anybody else can come up with a good and valid reason for desiring to buy a loss making enterprise then my guard may drop a little. Until we discover more it's better and wiser to remain sceptical.

The actual difference is I'll be happy if the Trust finds Syed to be a suitable owner while you will be heart-broken.

It's not only reallists v fantasists it's reallists v lemmings in certain cases. It appears to me that the trust have been trying to offload the club for so long without any takers that they'd take a signed cheque for it off Osama Bin Laden by now.
philipl Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 To TGM and John Dickinson. 1) Proving whether Ali Syed has billions and whether they arrived in his pocket legitimately enough to pass muster is easy if you hold Rothschilds' banking license, or are BDO, or PwC, or Allen & Overy. 2) Sorting out the stuff Goldberg is dealing in is much more tricky to go definitive on one way or another. I guess Citigate are saying some colourful things to Ali Syed for not appointing them six weeks before he did as none of this would have surfaced- most of their fees are earned for what doesn't appear in the media. 3) Sorting out whether Ali Syed will definitely put his money into Rovers over 15 years and expect nothing back is even more tricky and that is the Trust's job. In the final analysis, would I have rather our probable new owner not be tainted this way? Of course. Does number 2 really matter if the Trust get number 3 right? Absolutely NOT.
philipl Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Revidge's mission accomplished- you fell hook line and sinker for that one Hughesy and spilled more beans than your source will be comfortable with. PS 1 There are meeting rooms that are not at Ewood PS 2 The Rovers Board runs the Rovers, the Trustees own (and will sell, probably) the Rovers

thenodrog Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 That was a narrow squeak Hughesy. I think you might owe Gunner a beer.
Ricky Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 darn... missed it!! If only you'd just deleted your post Hughesy!!! I could have had a nose it at then lol.

Everyone must agree that will be far better than a new owner coming in, clearing the boardroom and placing people who know nothing about the club in there.
Jackson Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Never mind! Come on, Hughesy lad, spill the beans. Discretion isn't a curse that usually inflicts you...
thenodrog Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Come on, Hughesy lad, spill the beans. Discretion isn't a curse that usually inflicts you... 'inflicts' Jacko? If Syed buys the club, hasn't he said the board will continue to run the Rovers. to his instruction.
CrazyIvan Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 'inflicts' Jacko? to his instruction. Are you joining pedants anonymous Gordon? You really have a downer on Mr Syed don't you?
