sparkspakespoke
Shefki Kuqi is having medical at Newcastle, I´m having a laugh. There is a replacement for Carroll, Geordies must be happy. Kuqi signs for the barcodes! brilliant, yet again prove themselves to be the leagues biggest joke.
chris
"Kuqi joined Crystal Palace from Blackburn Rovers for a reported £2.5 million transfer fee at the end of the August transfer window in 2006." We got good money here.
deftangel
If there were some odd betting movements- like seriously big bets going on 4-4 or the order of scoring, that will be enough to trigger investigations. I remember reading that it only takes two players from each side to have an "agenda" for a game and the probability of them achieving the target result is pretty high. I'm a bit LTTP on this but I didn't see any chat about it on Betfair at the weekend. I don't think they would ever have a market for 4-4 though so difficult to tell if any big money went that way. There was an extremely suspicious game in Seria B recently that wound up 3-3 but theory goes that the scoreline only went that high because someone scored by accident to make it 3-2! (the equaliser was very swift in coming and there were no shots thereafer). I'm not sure how much control one can have over a game where people are smashing in 30 yard volleyed equalisers so I'd take any reports with a pinch of salt. John
Liverpool appear to have (their new) owners conducting themselves in the correct manner - from what I've seen they seem to be communicating with fans etc well....? If anything I would have thought that it would have been in-running betting on the order of the goals (I myself got a nice price on Newcastle to score the 5th goal) or on the draw when it was 4-0 or 4-1 (which you could have had for 1000-1 with some, but certainly at least 500-1). Just seems like a bit far-fetched to me.

John
Imagine if we had sold our best player in the first window after the sale... Time will tell but they could have done some good business there - not seen enough of them both (playing live that is) however Suarez in particular is very highly rated. imy9
They knew Torres was leaving so sensibly had a back up. I'm sure I read somewhere that there is still a debt that the club owes as well as the owners stating that they see nothing wrong with piling more debt on the club in the future- great owners, not sure? Torres is probably my favourite striker, despite his indifferent season so far, but Carroll and Suarez are fantastic replacements. Dalglish will take Liverpool far, no question. We made a bid for Suarez BEFORE Nando handed in a transfer request! The only debt left is the stadium debt, which isn't on the clubs name. No, they haven't said that. Top top owners, they understand us fans and want to communicate with us, something the previous owners lacked
Eddie
It's all well and good talking about how they understand the fans, but this will all boil down to how much they spend and whether or not they can bring success to the club. It's no different from our new owners. The PR should be the easy bit, that isn't to say that everyone does it well, but it isn't what they will eventually be judged by. You'll forget the fans forums if the team is still out of the champions league in 18 months time. You've had to sell one of your two best players, the other one is getting older and so far the solution was to shell out 35 million for a striker who has yet to really prove himself at any level, let alone in the premier league and champions league. It may well work out, but they need to have the spin machine in overdrive. If Newcastle had offered Carroll plus 15 million for Torres they would have been laughed off. If two months ago I had said that Carroll would become the 8th most expensive players in the HISTORY OF WORLD FOOTBALL everyone would have laughed it off. Nolan is a scouser (albeit Evertonian) an excellent player and is also Carrolls mentor. An arrangement through necessity that does seem to be working from the outside. Split em up and Carroll might easily go off the rails. Daftest bit about the whole deal is that imo if Lpool had bid Ashley 35m for the pair he would have snatched their hands off. Eddie
Yep, quite the goal. Not often that you see an overhead kick hit so sweetly. West Brom already 2-0 up against West Ham. The Hammers are in big trouble.
Backroom Tom Posted February 12, 2011 Author Backroom Share Posted February 12, 2011 He may be trouble but Ba seems to know how to score, he could be the player to save West Ham. Most teams around us drew today with only Wolves losing, problem is we had one of the easiest games of the bunch and it's another winnable game gone Then again one win makes everything look a lot better, getting that win is where the problem lies.
