One point spread over four clubs, one of which will in all probability go down, one with a game in hand, not good.

The Blackpool game just got a whole lot bigger.

Not really it was already huge, a point for Birmingham last night doesn't change much.

Going back to the QPR thing. How much fuss did that idiot warnock make when sheffied utd went down as a result of third party ownership in the tevez saga. He made a load of fuss about it and now he's been caught out doing the same thing.

Bit like telling your players to go out and break players legs and then kicking off when one of your players suffers a broken leg.... Oh wait..... He did that as well.

'colin' really is the lowest of the low in terms of manager. Do as I say and not as I do.

Think it was Jim Magilton who signed the player though

I have not seen much of him play however seems to have made an decent impact so far - Demba Ba has inspired West Ham to greater heights, putting them within touching distance of a return to Wembley for manager Avram Grant and boosting their Premier League survival hopes no end.

Also, for West Ham, Hitzslsperger appears to have done well since returning from injury.

“Arsene Wenger has been Arsenal’s coach for 15 years but he hasn’t won even a Carling Cup for six years...

This is not the Italian mentality. To stay here I must continue winning and do well.”

Mourinho, I gotta agree with ya.

6th and 7th now no good for Europa qualification with the Stoke v Bolton FA Cup Semi Final draw. No doubt a big groan went up in Liverpool when that one came out.

And a little matter of a probable Manchester derby at Wembley in the other SF.

Fantastic for football that either Bolton or Stoke will be in the FA Cup Final.

Local rivalry is fine when we actually meet but, outside that, I'm always rooting for N.W. teams. I hope Bolton do it just as much as I wish that Burnley, Preston , Bury etc were all in the PL.

Bolton and Stoke's achievement just shows what could have been achieved if Kean had, IMO, taken the tie at Villa seriously instead of the absolute rubbish that was served-up which was disgraceful for the few hundred Rovers fans who made the effort.

We are fortunate that we've had a few semi's to look forward to over recent years, but, unfortunately, we now look a million years away from that now.

I don't see it as good for football, I can't think of a semi final I'd rather watch any less personally.

Bolton are about the most tolerable of the teams left in it.

And to be fair to Kean we threw our chances away in the exact same form last year

Haven't they stopped the runner up of FA Cup getting into Europe now? Might be wrong though.

Aston Villa defenders Richard Dunne and James Collins face a hefty club fine after a heavy drinking session on a club trip

The event occurred when boss Gerard Houllier took the squad for a trip to Champneys spa in Leicestershire last Wednesday. However, Dunne and Collins could not take part in the activities due to injury and were drunk by the time everyone sat down for an evening meal.

Irish international Dunne was said to have insulted team-mates and staff and was so drunk he could not remember the events the following day.

As of the 2009–10 season qualification for the UEFA Champions League changes, the top four teams in the Premier League qualify for the UEFA Champions League, with the top three teams directly entering the group stage. Previously only the top two teams qualified automatically. The fourth-placed team enters the Champions League at the play-off round for non-champions and must win a two-legged knockout tie in order to enter the group stage. The team placed fifth in the Premier League automatically qualifies for the UEFA Europa League, and the sixth and seventh-placed teams can also qualify, depending on the winners of the two domestic cup competitions. If one of the cup winners qualifies for Europe through their league position, the sixth-placed team in the Premier League will qualify for the Europa League. If both of the cup winners qualify for the Champions League through their league position, the sixth and seventh-placed teams in the Premier League will qualify for the Europa League. If either domestic cup competition is contested between teams outside the top four league positions, the winner will automatically qualify for the UEFA Europa League regardless of their final league position. A further place in the UEFA Europa League is also available via the Fair Play initiative. If the Premier League has one of the three highest Fair Play rankings in Europe, the highest ranked team in the Premier League Fair Play standings which has not already qualified for Europe will automatically qualify for the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round.

That to me suggests that the only way you are getting into Europe via the fa cup is by winning it and not finishing in Europe places. I'm going to check on the fa site to make sure.
