Bobby G Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 A big boost for the other sides cause Doyle is key to their style. But Fletcher can possibly step into the fore.

Neil Weaver Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Did I read in the last few days that another of their players was injured and is likely to miss a number of matches-a defender? Yep, Zubar
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 A big boost for the other sides cause Doyle is key to their style. But Fletcher can possibly step into the fore. Yeah thats what it's come down to Bobby, sweating on wether Wolves will have a striker missing when we play them.

I must admit that when Adams when down injured, playing for Scotland earlier today, I was hoping for an injury that meant he'd miss the rest of the season!

67splitscreen Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 The cost of relegation for Newcastle, 17.1m loss, Venky's take note. My link
Ricky Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Surely the £17m loss isn't what venkys should look at, it's the fact that Ashley invested and additional £42m and the losses were still at that level!!

thenodrog Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/9442542.stm Doesn't this contravene our race laws? It surely should. If someone is to be parachuted into Liverpools squad simply because he is an Asian of whatever origin then by definition someone else is elbowed out. If that is done on race without taking account of talent / ability then it's openly racist. Imagine the scenario the other way around and the furore that would occurr if the statement was 'Liverpool should NOT sign any asian players'.
Hughesy Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/9442542.stm First of all id say whats it got to do with a sponsor....they dont run the club, they already have signed an agreement with the club - they are simply after extra exposure. Interesting what they say about how if one played for a club then the whole nation would watch, kind of hits home why Venkys are trying to break India....find 1 Indian star & 1 brazilian star and show it off to the whole of the country and we may gain a much bigger global audience.

Thing is it doesn't necessarily follow that having a player from Country X means you all of a sudden have an influx of fans in that country. Everton have been sponsored by Chang for years, and they got Li Tie playing for them (until he broke his leg) and also Bolton signed Nakata - first Japanese player in the Prem I think - but they've hardly broke the Chinese/Japanese markets respectively. The reason why it works for the likes of Liverpool is because they have a big 'following' anyway, so it doesn't need much to make people 'proper fans'. I'm not saying we won't get fans should we sign an Indian player, but I don't think it is going to make us millions and millions in merchandise!

I wonder if Tendulkar can kick a ball in any sort of half decent fashion? Getting him in would certainly do the trick and elevate us to top club in India! Great scam too....he could even do a Grella, run out and pretend to pull a muscle during the warm up and never actually need to kick a ball!

Course it makes a difference, Bolton get a massive increase in coverage in China or wherever it is thanks to Lee. Big increase on TV in another country bring interest from global companies, offering much better deals than local ones - increasing cash. Bolton & Everton didnt cash in as they didnt attempt to visit any of these places.
Backroom Tom Posted April 2, 2011 Author Backroom Posted April 2, 2011 Daft question but why does Upton Park look so different on TV, is it a new gantry for the cameras?
rebelmswar Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Penatlty to West Ham. And scored. We may win today.
Backroom Tom Posted April 2, 2011 Author Backroom Posted April 2, 2011 Awful for Rovers, today could be a critical day if things go against us. I hate myself for this but COME ON UNITED

Backroom Tom Posted April 2, 2011 Author Backroom Posted April 2, 2011 For God's sake, this is bad 2-0
rebelmswar Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 God hates us. The only time that Man U have come back to win from being down this season is against Blackpool.
