Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted November 10, 2010 Moderation Lead Posted November 10, 2010 Simpson was dreadful for us, I don't miss him one bit- give it time, he'll be abysmal for the Geordies as well! Whenever a player for them has a good game he gets major press coverage, talk about bias!

BuckyRover Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 England call up in the offing apparently.
gumboots Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 England call up in the offing apparently. Yes well we all know how bad England are.
Mattyblue Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 England call up in the offing apparently. A new low for English football.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I'd rather have Micah Richards at right back than Danny Simpson. Infact I'd rather have Richards than Johnson too.
koi Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 On the Shearer point, den is right. When he dropped out wide on the right he put over inch perfect crosses of such perfection. Quite a few of Wilcox goals came from that source. Certainly one at Forest and also against Liverpool at Ewood which came after a 29 passes move by Rovers. Not only were they inch perfect the pace he put on the ball whilst keeping that accuracy was amazing. As it goes, I was watching some games from the Shearer years and you forget just how good he was at Rovers! It's also easy to forget that little jump your stomach would do when Shearer got anywhere near the goal, oh to have a striker that made you feel like that again!

Jason does but for all the wrong reasons!
Backroom Tom Posted November 11, 2010 Author Backroom Posted November 11, 2010 That Fellaini is almost as big an idiot as Barton, did you see him kick out then start rolling around the floor to avoid getting sent off? Glad the ref saw through it.

philipl Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Bolton's £34 Million loss!!! An amortisation bill of £60m to £70m? I think they have written off the entire value of the squad in this year to keep themselves within the UEFA rules in future. Might be a good idea for Rovers to do this as well. Bound to be a loophole which closes when Man City write off £250m!

Bound to be a loophole which closes when Man City write off £250m! So what does that mean exactly? That the squad they have they say is worth £0? So if they hadnt written off £60m, would they have made a big profit? Sorry but im no accountant!
Commondore Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I used to think the Kevin Foley witch hunt was quite silly, but he came pretty damn close to breaking Arshavin's leg like a matchstick yesterday... Is that his fourth or fifth career-threatening tackle this season?
Exiled_Rover Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 No such thing as a career threatening tackle in this day and age.

Bound to be a loophole which closes when Man City write off £250m! A pre-requisite from Coyle was obviously money to spend. He got it and he's spent it well. Bolton have a more solid look to them on the pitch. Off the pitch they must be skating on ever thinner ice. imo they are heading for the buffers although I'm not sure how long the track is. btw quite funny to seem Gartside using the term 'we are not a selling club, we are a trading club.' He's obviously been hanging on JW's every word. Somebody needs to tell him though that for trading clubs to exist there needs to be buying clubs and they are getting fewer and fewer. I don't think Gartside will be able to recreate the financial success of selling Per Frandson and Nathan Blake to us for big money ever again.
Backroom DE. Posted November 11, 2010 Backroom Posted November 11, 2010 It's amazing how Manchester City have spent hundreds of millions of pounds purely to recreate George Graham's Arsenal. They'll never win the league playing like they did last night.

They'll never win the league playing like they did last night. I don't think I could stomach being a fan if this was Rovers. Even if they were an attractive, successful side, there'd still be a bitter taste in my mouth for how much they've spent, and how much the players are earning.
Commondore Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 No such thing as a career threatening tackle in this day and age. I agree that modern medicine lets even the most mangled footballers return to the field, but a lot of them are never the same as before their injury. Arsenal's Eduardo being the most recent example.

You mean like when Jack Walker bankrolled you lot to the title ? Only difference between City and Rovers is inflation.
Backroom Tom Posted November 11, 2010 Author Backroom Posted November 11, 2010 Wow I didn't relaise the extent of this Hyper inflation
brian_gallagher85 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Tell me Mick what major honours have City won in the last 15 years if this is the only difference? Also, I'm sure that as a hammer you will know this, but you can't buy class!

Also, I'm sure that as a hammer you will know this, but you can't buy class! I don't understand the question ? Rovers haven't won any major honours either prior to Jack for about 80 years.... ps I am very depressed at the moment, we are in serious trouble...... Wow I didn't relaise the extent of this Hyper inflation I know its bad ! Did you not see Mervyn King on the news last night.
brian_gallagher85 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Nothing personal, but I hope that you're depression continues. I just hope that there aren't three poorer teams than you lot in the league come May to keep you up this time

Mattyblue Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Not blaming you Mick, but that comment just proves the disgraceful coverage the Jack era received. We NEVER outspent our rivals,, we made a profit on the vast majority of our players- no Shevchenkos in our squad. Of course, without Jack we would never have been able to match the top clubs spending, but did we do a Citeh or Chelsea- no.
