koi Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 A small part of me actually wants the FA to fine Blackpool just to see if he really does quit!

92er Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Anyone read the Ian Holloway press conference rant in the Sun? Wasn't able to copy it but its as good a read (well almost) as Kinnear's press conference at Newcastle a while back. Always thought Holloway was a nice bloke with a good line in humour but he's gone completely mental! I heard some of it on Radio Lancs yesterday and saw some on the BBC. I can understand why my friend, who is a Blackpool supporter, loves him.
Commondore Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I wouldn't say there is much difference between City and Chelsea personally in financial outlay, just City have done it in a shorter time span. The only real difference is that City haven't managed to win anything yet. Not sure why anyone who would have a problem with Citys spending would not have a similarly negative view of Chelsea. I view both clubs negatively for making the league so uncompetitive for other teams (Rovers never did that, within a year many clubs in the league were spending twice what we bought Shearer for on players), plus - as I have pointed out - we were only spending similar amounts to the existing top teams. City and Chelsea are spending many times what Villa or Everton can afford, let alone Rovers. One fact that for some reason has waned into obscurity is where Abramovich, and in the long run Chelsea, got his money from. With that taken into consideration I just don't see how anyone matches Chelsea in being plainly obscene.
47er Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Managed the Holloway interview at last. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3223482/No-muppet-tells-me-what-to-do.html
Hughesy Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Good 2nd half at Villa....United have done well to recover from 2-0 down
LeChuck Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Good 2nd half at Villa....United have done well to recover from 2-0 down Villa have got some cracking young players coming through - Albrighton, Agbonlahor, Bannan, Delfouneso, Clarke, Delph, Hogg... They could be some team in a few years if they can keep hold of the likes of Young.
LeChuck Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Is Mancini going then? Before the start of today City had exactly the same number of points as they did under Hughes at the same stage. Nice to see the money spent has bought progress. He's a disgrace, they need to rid themselves of him ASAP.
brian_gallagher85 Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Taking Tevez off like that has to be the final straw. I can only think he wants out with a nice big pay off!
BuckyRover Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Who is gonna get sacked first? Grant or Mancini?
misterbigalow Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Who is gonna get sacked first? Grant or Mancini? You might want to add our old friend Woy to that list now!
BRFC1995 Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Who is gonna get sacked first? Grant or Mancini? mancini wham squad is woeful and they should resign themselves to relegation they cant be affording compo payouts. mancini however aint got a leg to stand on, shoddy defence and week in week out excessivly defensive midfields behind 2 dwarfs upfront. so many pointless signings on crazy wages.
Mr. E Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 As much as I would revel in Man City's failure, sacking a manager at 4th place, when this club have never been so high, would be madness.
Hughesy Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 As much as I would revel in Man City's failure, sacking a manager at 4th place, when this club have never been so high, would be madness. Under Hughes they had 21 pts after 12, under Mancini they have 23pts after 13, despite spending bucket loads more cash.....Not much of an improvement. Results wise today, except for Stoke, its been decent for us. West Ham & Wolves look in real trouble to me.
BRFC1995 Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 As much as I would revel in Man City's failure, sacking a manager at 4th place, when this club have never been so high, would be madness. city are an exception being so ridiculously rich 4th they maybe but they should be so far and a way better than the premier league pack and they simply are'nt when the likes of bolton and newcastle are within spitting distance and they're performances are so, so abject.......end of the season they'd be so far off the top with him still in charge.
gumboots Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Who is gonna get sacked first? Grant or Mancini? Personally I think Grant is doing a fine job at West Ham and looks like surpassing their previous managers' performances.
LeChuck Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Grant has definitely been found out. He inherited a fantastic Chelsea side that was almost impossible to fail with, he only achieved the bare minimum still. At Porstmouth, he was still taking them down without the points deduction, but the situation there created a lot of sympathy which built a false reputation for him really. He seems like a decent bloke though and does try to get teams playing in the right way. Mancini is the most negative manager I've ever seen, you'd think hundreds of millions would put some ambition in him.
den Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Glenn Johnson wants out and the scousers chanting for Dalglish as manager. Can Roy handle the dissidents? He couldn't at Ewood.
brian_gallagher85 Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 As much as I would revel in Man City's failure, sacking a manager at 4th place, when this club have never been so high, would be madness. Now I could be wrong here, but isn't that exactly what they did when Hughes was in charge...?
Mr. E Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 well sacking Hughes was also madness. I'll be surprised if they're so impatient again.
Backroom Tom Posted November 14, 2010 Author Backroom Posted November 14, 2010 What a ridiculously good goal by Elmander Also flogging a dead horse here but the big club ref bias is as evident as ever. Today at Villa Hernandez blatantly kicks the ball away - no yellow. Young celebrate with corwd - yellow. Vidic celebrates with crowd - no yellow!
DanLad Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Also flogging a dead horse here but the big club ref bias is as evident as ever. Today at Villa Hernandez blatantly kicks the ball away - no yellow. Young celebrate with corwd - yellow. Vidic celebrates with crowd - no yellow! It's a disgrace and has been for years, unfortunately. It's no wonder the 'top' teams remain the 'top' teams when they have a clear advantage every week.
koi Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 It's a toss-up between Woy and Mancini for me though the porn crew might decide they've no option. I'll go for Mancini.
Amo Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 It's a disgrace and has been for years, unfortunately. It's no wonder the 'top' teams remain the 'top' teams when they have a clear advantage every week. I remember last week, the boys on MOTD were getting onto that subject but quickly changed the subject. God forbid they're ever remotely controversial.
thenodrog Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Grant has definitely been found out. He inherited a fantastic Chelsea side that was almost impossible to fail with, he only achieved the bare minimum still. Not true LeChuck. From taking over at Chelsea post Mourhinho on the 21st Sept he actually got more points than Man U by the end of the season. Problem is Chelsea had been left to far off the pace behind the Mancs when Mourhino left. I remember last week, the boys on MOTD were getting onto that subject but quickly changed the subject. God forbid they're ever remotely controversial. Hansen was stating that there must be reasons when Shearer interrupted and stupidly took the debate off topic.
Mattyblue Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Graham Poll was on Five Live this week saying that when he was a ref it riled him when fans and managers of clubs said there was a bias to the top teams. Now he has retired he says it is obvious they had a point.
