philipl Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 It is a Poppy- symbol of remembrance for the dead of the two World Wars. The table has become even more bunched after today's results. 3 points cover the top 4 and 3 points cover 7th to 15th. I always look for the 9 point gap- the number of points a club can realistically gain on the rest if it goes on a great run. On that basis Wigan in 18th could overhaul Bolton in 5th. At this stage, West Ham look like they have too many poor players in too many key positions whilst their good players are having iffy seasons or can be too easily nullified by the opposition. Wolves are hit by injuries badly but they have bought too many very good Championship players in their transfer splurge. Wigan are a right mix of the brilliant and the awful but none of the promoted trio are in the bottom three yet and I don't think any of them are that outstanding. However, the Managers of Blackpool and WBA are doing brilliantly. Even if we had lost yesterday, I'd still be feeling pretty comfortable about Rovers' survival chances this season.

alexanders Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 We are only 4 points of Bolton at 4th place. Looking at our upcoming fixtures except United at OT we can very well command a place in the top table during the coming weeks.

To use a quote the Venkys might use in their other business; chickens should not be counted before they are hatched.
alexanders Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Why not be positive about it? Thats how I am.
dave birch Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Why not be positive about it? Thats how I am. So, you're positive about it, but given up three points to the Mancs? At the moment, my thoughts are that we should be taking something away from the theatre of dreams. I'll take any points from any games, whether it be 1 or 3, such is the dog fight that we are in. Just as long as we don't end up with zero points out of any of the upcoming games
Hughesy Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Looking at our upcoming fixtures except United at OT we can very well command a place in the top table during the coming weeks. People also have to be realistic…from now until Jan 1st..we have Sunderland Away (haven’t lost at home), Bolton away (much improved side)…a team very similar to us (Stoke) and all the rest are teams who will be fighting for their lives (Wolves, West Ham, West Brom)….lets not get carried away, EVERY game in the premier is tough. Yes they are ALL winnable, but we still need to perform to take the points…key for us is to win our home games, not lose our away games & try to pick up a win or two on the travels. Im in agreement with Philip though…I don’t see any worries for us this season – we already have double the points of West Ham & Wolves…and West Brom seem on a rapid decline, with Wigan struggling too & Blackpools honeymoon period over (with a tough 5 game run coming – Bolton A, United H, Stoke A, Spurs H, Liverpool H)

Bobby G Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Any update on the Chelsea situation for those of you in the know in London?
bigbrandjohn Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Glad to see Benni Mac still has the hunger for the game. Warning lthe language used to describe his motivation is not for our younger viewers http://www.westhamonline.net/forum_flat.php?5008389%7Ca0_a0_a0
Bobby G Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 One of the best bits of business if we got 2 million for him! We were lucky being one striker short last season didnt cost us a place though.
cn174 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Kevin Phillips ain't the best commentator in the world is he?!
Mattyblue Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Kevin Phillips ain't the best commentator in the world is he?! Bit harsh, last time he was on he had nothing but praise for Sir Jack Hayward and all the great times he gave to the Rovers!
blue/white Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 West Ham look certs for relegation, utterly woeful. Just two other places to fill! Anyone for the overrated Scott Parker?
blue/white Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Maradona, at craven cottage, long way from home on a Sunday afternoon. ????? Who's for the chop, Mancini or Grant. Although i have a feeling Curbishley will be replacing Grant soon. Don't equate the incoherent one's presence at the Cottage or at Real Madrid this weekend to a replacement. Maradona's been making the rounds to collect interest in the Boca Jrs. job. He's rumored to be a front runner for the gig and he's been huddling w/ Forlan and Tevez to get them interested in his 'project'. His agent has also put it out there that he'd been interested in a job in the PL-- however, that just doesn't hold water... can it??? Say it ain't so, Nicko. Forlan/Tevez to Boca sounds quite daft--- highly unlikely in Forlan's case, but we all know Carlito is dying to get back home to his beloved Boca. silly bugger.
CrazyIvan Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Anyone for the overrated Scott Parker? To be fair to Scott Parker, he is by far the best player in that side. He stands out a mile. West Ham have the look of Pompey, now I wonder why that is?
Hughesy Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Anyone for the overrated Scott Parker? The same player Harry wants? The same player that would ask for £70k+ a week? No thanks...find a younger, cheaper version.
Ricky Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Adabayor off to Juve in jan on a loan deal according to the BBC. Comes from the player himself so guess it's pretty reliable.
67splitscreen Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 The first axe falls at spammers but misses the bookies favourite.
Backroom Tom Posted November 23, 2010 Author Backroom Posted November 23, 2010 He looks a bit like Nelsen in that pic
blue/white Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 He looks a bit like Nelsen in that pic What's with this new trend of axeing the 2nd. in command? Obviously done w/ an eye on avoiding the balloon payment? If Chelsea's move was laughable, but this one is laughable to the 10th. power - silly vice boys. (see, Philip, didn't succumb to the oft heard 'porn boys' ) RE: Scott Parker... even a dolt like me realizes his wages and pretensions preclude Rovers as a final destination. This boys' been far more interested in $$$ over anything else going back to his Charlton days. shame that, because he's just what the Dr. ordered for our all labor no arte midfield.
Roberto Policano Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Adabayor off to Juve in jan on a loan deal according to the BBC. Comes from the player himself so guess it's pretty reliable. Think it's more the player hoping. Will check it though tomorrow.
Backroom Tom Posted November 25, 2010 Author Backroom Posted November 25, 2010 Does anyone else think Rooney looked just a little too excited after scoring that goal?
BuckyRover Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I don't know. He has had a rough few months. Might have thought he would never score again!
Al Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 It was only a penalty. If you can't score those it's time to give up.
