It's a strange one. Hughton was going to be sacked if he didn't beat Sunderland a few weeks ago. Smashed them, then wins at Arsenal. OK he lost to the White Brazilians 5-1, but that is not a bad result in the circumstances. ;)

The Toon did have some very odd names in the frame a few weeks ago. Pardew and Lambert.

But it would not totally surprise me if Beardsley is given a run as caretaker - and kept it if he got results. One almighty 'if' mind you.

You couldnt write this stuff!

(I didnt mean 'you' couldnt write it Nicko - just a turn of phrase, honest!)

White brazilians - please, thats more than enough

Newcastle deserve everything they get now, I never did like them - but under Hughton they have played some decent football and were actually strangely likeable. But this just goes to prove that it is the same old big-headed, egoistic group of idiots that infected the premiership a couple of seasons back. They will go down either this season or next now, mark my words. And good riddance, horrible group of people in charge of that mess and a horrible group of fans who follow them (in the main) to boot.

Bye bye Newcastle, there will not be a sympathetic tear across all of England when you go crashing down to the Championship again...

Now if we can get shot of West Ham - the premier league will be as close to being twit free as it has been in a long time.

Newcastle were mid-table in the PL when they last sacked a very good manager, and relegation soon followed.

Some (thick Geordie) folk never learn.

Hughton seemed a decent bloke operating in a vile business. He's better out of it.

very strange this, because a win in their next game would see them jump up the table again. its so tight this season, that any team could get into Europe and there is no guarantee of staying up either. to change manager now, is just stupid.

Won promotion in a very difficult league.

Beat Arsenal away, smashed their rivals Sunderland and are in a decent league position for a newly promoted team with little money to spend.

Mike Ashley needs to go to the looney bin!

They also won at Goodison and Stamford Bridge (albeit in the cup).

Crazy.

They certainly know how to spice things up.

I dont think hughton was ever a long term choice. Newcastle have only one twice at home and are beginning to slide. They got hammered at Bolton and were a shambles yesterday, It all depends on whether they can appoint a decent manager.

Bet Sparky wishes he had waited a little longer before jumping back in

To be fair, and i'm no fan of Newcastle and their fans, fans are angry about this sacking. They certainly weren't calling for it en masse. They seem mainly to be still behind Hughton, so I'm not sure this time that they do deserve what they've got.

I have never felt anger at manager getting the sack but am today. Houghton is a decent bloke, has done a fantastic job at Newcastle under difficult circumstances, what exactly has he spent? He has beaten arsenal away, Chelsea away and Sunderland 5-1 at home, what more could he do, they are also two points behind us in the league! I hope they get sacked and that prat Ashley loses more money, the world of football gets crazier

Shocking decision by Ashley and one that I think will come back to haunt him. If Hughton had lost the faith of the players and/or fans and the club were in a perilous position then you could at least have some kind of justification, but absolutely none of these things has occured. An insane decision by an utter moron. Genuinely hope Newcastle follow WHU down into the Championship and never come back.

I was only posting what I heard. If it is Pardew then Mike Ashley clearly has no clue.

Ashley has no clue regardless of whether Pardew is appointed or not.

He's far too good for that circus and not nearly daft enough to consider it.

Isn't it nice to be laughing at Newcastle once again?

I'm happier with the chaos it will cause in Newcastle. A self-inflicted wound which should help keep them below us on the table.

Now if we can only convince Ashley that he absolutely needs Owen Coyle. Throwing Bolton into chaos would be a dream. :)

Sent over a fax to Mike Ashley, with the words "no ******* chance I'm coming back" written in my own ****. I can't have him getting ideas.

Would have worked better if I was just sending a letter, though. There's **** all over the fax machine now. I'll blame it on Samba again.

Done poorly at Ajax this year, had a bad ending at Spurs. Don't think it's worth the instability caused by Hughton's sacking to replace him with Jol. Would be a much better appointment than Pardew, mind.

Would it open the door for Rovers to move in for Suarez now that would be a an exciting signing.
