I've just done my own calculations and got 8.5 as their average position.

I dunno if someone else wants to have a go to attempt to verify it (not sure why, but I'm curious now).

8.5625 if we're being precise :)

I wondered how long it would take before Nukecastles delusions of grandeur and sense of entitlement would take to return after coming up. Couldn't even keep 'em down for half a season. Sacking Hughton after what he's done for them is unforgiveable and I hope whoever they appoint takes them straight back down, not to be seen again for a decade. And there I was thinking relegation would have done them some good.

Toons never change their stripes.

Excellent post and spot on. I thought everyone thought that Hughton had done a fantastic job. When Newcastle went down I thought it would have been far easier for them to implode rather than come straight up as Champions. In the their first difficult season back in the Premiership they are doing OK to well everything considered. So what do they do - they sack the manager. They are their own worse enemies and deserve everything they get.

At least Pardew getting the Newcastle job leaves Martin Jol free to take over at Rovers .... ;)

Being a good coach, Jol potentially fits in very well for the way Venky's could want to work (loaning decent European prospects etc).

Maybe this is what Philip got wind of

Oh God no! The knock-on effect of FIFA's horrible decision is going to affect everything. If the FA have any balls they will block any sale of a PL club to Qatari's. I doubt Sheikh Sin Bin Al Moody Beardy Khafir will be after Spurs (Arabs buying a club known for it's high Jewish fanbase!) - Everton and Toon are too small so they are going to want Man U.

The thought of that club (or even Spurs & Toon) being rescued AND oiling their spending wheels with billions more after years of overspending, massive debt and undeserved achievements is too painful to bear. The Manchester derby will be Sheikh v Sheikh! Actually, I think Everton is most likely, Manchester's second team got a Sheikh, so could Merseyside.

As has been said this is absolutely the LAST thing we need.

Is there any reason why Venky's couldnt sell quickly, like now and maybe make a quick and handsome return on their outlay, is there?

Newcastle United have appointed Alan Pardew as the club's new manager on a five-and-a-half-year deal

How much money do they want to waste? Ashley keeps moaning about people being on long term contracts and he gives Pardew a five-and-a-half-year deal. It could only happen up there.

Football is completely insane.

However, I am sure I read that his basic is going to be relatively low but highly incentivised.

Pardew:

'Throughout the football world people recognise that this is a unique club in many ways, with supporters who are second to none in their loyalty, passion and devotion for the team.'

I suppose if the media says it enough, the above statement must be true.

Maybe the fact that they have made plans for the future of BRFC and Venky's and have not bought BRFC for a short term win?

"Forget all the hard work of the last 6 months, let's sell the club for a 10% return."

Crazy talk

I was thinking more like double your money.... £100m then would it seem so crazy.

Not really. But as we were on the Market for about 5 years at 50m you think someone is going to come along and offer £100m a few weeks after?

Interesting

You never know - wasn't Bebe on a free, then 5 weeks later United paid 7m or something? Something very dodgy about that one though.

I am almost sad enough to sign up to a Newcaslte forum just so I can see their reaction because I can;t believe it

I was thinking only last week that Ashley deserves respect for the money he has invested since the they got relegated, but just when you think he couldn't get any dumber, he goes and does some thing like this

the one time i want liverpool to win...........bunch of $$$$$$

The absolute shower that benitez left added to the unbelievably bad signings of hodgson equels scousers screwed for years..........very funny just not today wanted newcastle demoralised would of had more of a test had they been playing blackpool

Hodgson has to be gone......he didnt sign him but skrirltl is incredibly, incredibly bad, konchensky and johnson are beyond useless as defensive full backs as well. Of the 11 that started for liverpool im not sure how many other than torres id want in a rovers shirt and that is some fall from grace for the scousers.

Oh c'mon. Reina for a start. Then Kuyt and Meireles would walk into our team. So that's four players without even thinking about it.

at this minute i wouldnt consider swaping reia for robinson, in fact definitely not. I really dont know what position kuyt plays in too crap to be a striker just gets commentators drooling over his energy levels and willingness never actually praised for any ability kinda like babel a positionless footballer.

there are hardly any goals in the liverpool squad like ours......they need a new manager, to sell about 12 players and to buy about 6 1st teamers to contend 4th again.

awesome that they've spiralled to our level :)
