adopted scouser Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Just watching Chelsea implode again and it struck me all this has happened since a shocking, totally out of the blue seemingly unnecessary sacking in the Management team.... And looking good for United, top of the league with two games in hand. Keep that trophy up here
JAL Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Just watching Chelsea implode again and it struck me all this has happened since a shocking, totally out of the blue seemingly unnecessary sacking in the Management team.... We could become paranoid and say, Yes, yet another Englishman booted out of out beautiful game by another merciless foreign owner, but that could set off the wrong people
John Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Hughes has THREE games to save his job Martin Jol, Sam Allardyce, Dave Jones, and John Collins are all potential replacements for the Welshman
American Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 And looking good for United, top of the league with two games in hand. Keep that trophy up here Must be a mirage. Things were supposed to go tits up for them by this year. Or was that 2012?
Stuart Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I seriously wonder if Hughes would potentially come back to Ewood. Mrs. D pointed at Sam's track record of signings in the aftermath of his dismissal. Well few can hold a candle to Hughes record on that score. With an eye for quality and the ability to convince excellent players to cone to Rovers, a larger budget would be likely to improve his ability to finalise the Diarra type of deals. The big question - as with all potential managers - would he put up with outside influences? He'd need to be able to hand his list over and have someone negotiate the deals. In fact, Hughes for chief scout!
Bobby G Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I could see Hughes being interested. If he's sacked, he wont be a chooser anymore. The memory of his tenure at City would have faded, and a relative failure at Fulham will be noted. Bear in mind, they did spend decent money in the summer for a club of their size with respect to the PL overall as well.

adopted scouser Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 The operations manager at Fulham is a close, personal friend. I could get chicken jalfrezi onto the team menu ?
Radagast Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I think Hughes would have too much pride (if that's the right word) to come back to Ewood with his tail between his legs. Can't believe Fulham lost that game, they completely controlled the play in the first half. Reminded me a little of the manner in which we lost the Bolton game.
Backroom Tom Posted December 28, 2010 Author Backroom Posted December 28, 2010 Would love Sparky back but more importantly his backroom team as well
Tooogs Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Had a few cheeky bets... £2 Tottenham v Newcastle Sunderland v Blackpool West Brom v Blackburn Stoke v Fulham Man City v Aston Villa Birmingham v Man Utd £4 Tottenham v Newcastle Sunderland v Blackpool West Brom v Blackburn Stoke v Fulham Man City v Aston Villa West Ham v Everton Birmingham v Man Utd £4 Tottenham v Newcastle Sunderland v Blackpool West Brom v Blackburn Stoke v Fulham Man City v Aston Villa West Ham v Everton Birmingham v Man Utd
mickbrown Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 West Ham on the verge of signing Luke Young to join Sidwell.
Billy Castell Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Those two wouldn't set any pulses racing, but they'd do a job for a team like us or West Ham.
Exiled_Rover Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Luke Young is crap. Sidwell was once highly thought of. Not entirely sure he still plays football though.
tony gale's mic Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Blackpool - unbelievable. Rode their luck by the sounds of it, but they're 6 points and a game in hand behind Chelsea. Also, they've played only 6 home games and 13 away games.
imy9 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Blackpool are proving that you can play attractive football and win in this league, love Olly, they deserve massive plaudits.
brian_gallagher85 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 The man deserves a knighthood for services to football! I'm looking at the relegation odds here at the minute and Villa are looking pretty decent at 5/1.
Amo Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Really no excuse for Villa to be in that state. And we think we've got problems?
Backroom Tom Posted December 28, 2010 Author Backroom Posted December 28, 2010 Still think Blackpool should be heavily fined and maybe even docked points (but it would be extreme), more than 1 game called off due to weather for a Premiership club is unacceptable. West Ham winning 1-0 isn't great but it means everton losing at least
Majiball Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Could the Hammers be about to move Avram out of the bottom 3 for the first time in 12 months???
Backroom DE. Posted December 28, 2010 Backroom Posted December 28, 2010 Everton are consistantly underperforming this season, bizarre as they have a good team and a good manager. Their main weakness seems to be in the striking department, though without any money to spend they'll have to find a loan in Jan to solve their problem.

I think their strike-force is on a par with our central midfield. Both could be likened to suffering from erectile dysfunction in a harem full of vixens, frustrating.
Backroom Tom Posted December 28, 2010 Author Backroom Posted December 28, 2010 Lee Bowyer just potentially made the title race a tiny bit more interesting
philipl Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Lee Bowyer just potentially made the title race a tiny bit more interesting And cut our margin over the drop zone to 6 points as well.
