joey_big_nose Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Coyle looks like the real deal to me, if he got his hands on the reigns of a club like Liverpool he would run riot I think.

rigger Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 My thoughts exactly. Too many big heads in that dressing room that didn't see why they should be taking orders from some 60+ ex-Fulham manager. I was never Hodgson's biggest fan but I've a lot of sympathy for him here. By the way, do the Liverpool supporters rejoicing at King Kenny's return remember what happened the last time he was hauled in to 'rescue' a season at the halfway point? I still have my doubts as to wheather Kenny will be any good managing a team that is struggling, don't get me wrong, he is brilliant with good teams, but I have my reservations about him when handling under performing teams
waynerovers Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Woy sacked at Liverpool with dalglish in till end of season. The king is back
Backroom DE. Posted January 8, 2011 Backroom Posted January 8, 2011 Fitting that it was defeat against us that ended his stay at Anfield. Meanwhile Liverpool are now Newcastle mkII, dragging up messiahs from the past to save them
budha Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 England soccer star Andy Carroll was left in agony after a drunken fall from a casino bar stool at 5am, it was claimed yesterday.Carroll, 22, had just ordered 30 “Jagerbombs” – a potent mix of spirit Jagermeister and Red Bull energy drink – for himself and 15 pals. Next day the £20million striker’s club, Newcastle United, announced that a thigh injury would rule him out of at least three games. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Newcastle-s-Andy-Carroll-injured-in-six-hour-30-Jagerbomb-bender-Exclusive-article666569.html?utm_source=footballURLs&utm_medium=twitter
Backroom Tom Posted January 8, 2011 Author Backroom Posted January 8, 2011 Not sure Daglish still has it and what if they go on a bad run and drop even further will he bolt under pressure? Seems like a Newcastle appointment
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 King Kenny returning to Liverpool has already lifted the entire club. The fans are now fully behind the team, the players have been given a boost by seeing a world legend in the dressing room. How can the players not be inspired to play for him? All Kenny has to do is to show them all his trophies and medals and tell them that if they want to win as many as he did as a player then they should get behind him. Call me crazy but I can see Liverpool going on a hell of a run this 2nd half of a season. Obviously they won't win the league but they will be challenging for a European spot. They haven't got the players anymore. I can see them finishing mid table.

Commondore Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I feel genuinely sorry for Hodgson, a good manager who fell from grace and worked his way up again just to have it all ruined by the worst Liverpool team since Souness heyday. Then again, he must have known that he would have needed to get every single detail right to get something out of that squad, and his transfer dealings have been close to catastrophic. Dalglish might give them a short term boost, but I think Liverpool's problems run way deeper than managerial level... They need to replace more or less two thirds of their squad to be able to compete for the league title again.

Fancy dress ? Were Smith and Nolan dressed as footballers then ?
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Nolan would walk into our team. That tells you all you need to know about our midfield.
Billy Castell Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Saw on one of the news channels, some scouse bint going on about how Kenny can have a 'job for life' now he's back. She sounded utterly indignant about losing to Blackburn, and slated Hodgson. She sounded like a Newcastle fan after a change at the top, with a reincarnated Bobby Robson replacing Pol Pot. Whilst I appreciate what Dalglish didd here, I'd love to see him fail completely with the red bin dippers.
joey_big_nose Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I don't accept all this balls about Liverpool having poor players. They have got a very good squad including a number of world class individuals. Much better talet than is available to us or Bolton or whoever. Issue is the club lost stability with the whole Benitez/Hicks and Gilette saga and that carried through to the Hodgson era as he could not turn it around in the small amount of time allowed. Plus losing Mascherano was a massive problem as he was the lynchpin of the side. You get this kind of daft knee jerk idiocy everytime a team performs poorly. When Newcastle got relegated everyone was hammering the squad, but they are doing fine now with virtually exactly the same set of players. Nolan and Barton - who were much abused by the Newcastle faithful - are now heroes. What makes the biggest difference is not the players so much as the ethic, focus, quality and stability of the club. That is why, for my money, Man Utd consistently do so well despite on paper having a poorer squad than most. Ferguson run a tight, stable and disciplined ship which allows team spirit and individual form to bloom. If Liverpool clear out and start from scratch then you are looking at another eighteen months at least of team building.
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Good squad? They have so many average players that they paid well over the odds for its untrue, how many LBs did Rafa buy for £5m+ almost every window The only have a few quality players in their squad and even they have been pretty poor for a while now. Gerrard - out of sorts and getting on a bit Torres - no doubt a quality player but even during the World Cup he looked disinterested Kuyt - has been injured for a lot of the season Others like Johnson, Meireles, Cole, Babbel and Lucas have been expensive flops. That whole club needs a massive overhaul.

Liverpool went in decline after losing Alonso, he was the best of the bunch, real quality player.
Roberto Policano Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Liverpool were going to sell Agger to Juventus.I wonder if Roy's sacking changes that.I shall go and ask.
mickbrown Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Martin O'Neill 1/5 to be next West Ham manager with Sky Bet. Would be amazed if we can get him.
ffan Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Martin O'Neill 1/5 to be next West Ham manager with Sky Bet. Would be amazed if we can get him. I wonder if he will continue his policy of over spending on English players.

They've signed more rubbish in the last fews years than any other TWO Premier league teams you care to name combined. Most of their better signings have also been allowed to leave. How many World Class individuals have they got ? On current form I'd say none.
American Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Liverpool went in decline after losing Alonso, he was the best of the bunch, real quality player. Shame we didn't go for him when no other team had made a bid.... Correct. They needed a motivator or a good man manager (something I suspect Roy isn't), given all that had been going on behind the scenes and low player morale. They've been in mental decline for a while and it really showed on Wednesday. Roy, of course, couldn't turn down the opportunity to manage Liverpool, but he surely knew the car crash of a club that he was walking into. They have decent players for a Premiership squad, but not for one that wants to be top 4. Dirk Kuyt should be a regular starter, but not their 3rd best outfield player. Would like to see Babel here, but again, not a player I'd see United, Chelsea or Arsenal wanting even as a squad player. Even with a lose definition of world class I'd only give you Torres (the few months a season he's healthy) and Gerrard.
BRFC1995 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 fake geoff stelling twitter account had something along the lines of......all north east football fans who need cheering up tonight i recommend eastenders. a line i could imagine the real one would say........still not as funny as glen johnson on merson.

I cant stand O'Neill and have not missed him capering up and down the touchline like a crazed chimp one bit. If you're going for a long ball manager Mick you might as well go for Allardyce who could possibly keep you up.
