joey_big_nose Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 They've signed more rubbish in the last fews years than any other TWO Premier league teams you care to name combined. Most of their better signings have also been allowed to leave. How many World Class individuals have they got ? On current form I'd say none. Gerrard, Torres and Reina are all world class. Lucas, Kuyt, G Johnson, Babel, J COle, Agger, Ngog are all very good players who would thrive under good management. Rovers would take and put any of those players straight into the starting XI, as would any club outside the top five or six (well apart from maybe Agger, but that is because we have unnaturally good defenders for a mid table club). Standard fickle balls where people are quick to write talent off.
Rover Down Under Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Funny that. Ex-Blackburn manager is replaced after losing at Blackburn by another ex-Blackburn manager.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 JBN, I'm guessing you have a different criteria of 'World Class'. World Class would suggest getting into a World XI (I'll even let you have 5 subs too). Reina would be nowhere near, he's bobbins. Torres might sneak in as a sub. Gerrard? I think Messi/Xavi/Iniesta/Fabregas and quite a few others are better.

You could be right about Gerard, he's never really performed on the international stage, although England have been largely a shambles for a while - they do not perform as well as the players that they have would indicate.Their report card would read "could do better, need to apply themselves"! (There's a management/leadership issue there too, but I can't for the life of me figure it out). Reina's not bobbins, he's actually a good keeper and Liverpool would be in a horrible state without him. Look at their defense for god's sake. Skrtl could be the worst defender I've ever seen playing for a premiership club (and yes, I include Titus "OG" Bramble, and Zat Knight in that).

Basically, you're saying they are good enough to finish 7th, which is about how good they are. They are nowhere near talented enough for top 4.

When did any of those three you name last do that ? Kuyt's a good workhorse, but no more than that. Lucas blows hot and cold ,decent one week crap the next. Johnson was good until he started believing his own bull ######. Babel- see Lucas. Joe Cole's been poor for a year or two, bad signing. Agger, not bad, steady player. Ngog, well if he signing for Rovers I'd be gutted- a rich mans Soloman Kalou.

As 'Arry is a media darling then no doubt it will be reported favourably......just imagine if it were us that had the deal in the bag only for it to fail at the death....
Hughesy Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Cant believe they wont pay £500k for insurance to let him play for 8 weeks, surely the media coverage & shirt sales alone would be worth it.
67splitscreen Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Brum walking a tight rope Pan A Plan B Neither look good, pretty sire Nicko said they had money to spend in this window, can't see their being to much of a gamble being taken.
BRFC1995 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 C.Ronaldo hat trick tonight 48 goals in 47 la liga games........If he was still a utd player they'd want twice what he went for now. Unreal, makes shearers goal scoring exploits when he was here look rank average by comparison. Never thought i'd see someone average more than a goal a game over a season but Messi's ratio is even better. Just nuts.
HemelRover Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Ryan Babel in trouble It would be funny if it wasnt so accurate.
alexanders Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Sam Allardyce to West Ham? According to this text he is going to be offered a 6-month contract. Sam Allardyce is becoming a "relegation battle" manager who is an expert on fighting relegation.

Never thought i'd see someone average more than a goal a game over a season but Messi's ratio is even better. Just nuts. If you include his cup games for madrid its even better, at 63 goals in 62 games. He's scored 22 already for the season and thats after a somewhat slow start, I wouldn't bet against him scoring more than 40 this season. Would love to see him back in the prem at some point. Maybe when mourinho takes over at united?
Miker Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Sam Allardyce is becoming a "relegation battle" manager who is an expert on fighting relegation. Why? Because he kept us and Bolton up when we were in big trouble? He pushed for Europe most seasons with Bolton and succeeded, was safely mid-table with Newcastle and got us into the top half in his first full season in charge and was in a position to push us for the European spots before he got sacked. He's an expert at AVOIDING relegation, but he also has the ability to let a club make stable progress.
John Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Correct Miker, his teams have finished in the top half of the league many times.
adopted scouser Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Ryan Babel in trouble He's going to get charged now apparently. What a namby pamby sport this has become.
thenodrog Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 He's going to get charged now apparently. What a namby pamby sport this has become. sadly 'sense of humour' has been removed from most walks of life these days Nick. If 50m people think something is funny and one person objects then thats it..... it isn't funny after all.
alexanders Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I said he is becoming. He helped us with the relegation battle? He is going to West Ham to???? .. (Help them with the relegation battle!) Stop being so vulnerable!
