hermitstool Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Because of this: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Paul-Ince-rejects-Fabio-Capello-s-offer-to-join-the-England-set-up-as-a-coach-article592851.html At least P**l I**e had the good grace to admit he is far too rubbish.

hermitstool Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 In all fairness I see Ince being a decent coach. Manager - No Coach - Probably a yep He *may* be a competent (at best) coach, but this post is surely tied in with the FA's desire to groom a future England manager. There is no way he would be seriously considered on a coaching or managerial basis- this smacks of being a political attempted appointment. His managerial record is dire overall, and he has no reputation as a coach- keep in mind the fact he hadn't even completed his coaching badges during his nightmarish spell at Ewood. Thankfully for England's future, and good sense, I**e's massively inflated ego and sense of self-worth has undermined him again.
Mattyblue Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 'Ince, 42, is understood to have impressed Capello during his short managerial career.' And people have questioned Capello's judgement.
hermitstool Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 'Ince, 42, is understood to have impressed Capello during his short managerial career.' And people have questioned Capello's judgement. Incredible isn't it?!?! Obviously his record is outstanding: Swindon - contract terminated mutually, Rovers- sacked, MK Dons (2nd attempt)- Jumped (or was he pushed?) Oh, and he won League 2 manager of the month twice. There are *definitely* no English coaches with a record that could compare to that.... Oh no wait.... THERE ARE!
modes98 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Wow I think only a manager as bad as Paul Ince could think that going to join the England setup when there is no prospect of you getting a job in the football league is a bad thing. Moron.
Mr. E Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Appointing Paul Ince would be less stupid than starting with Heskey or Green at the world cup.
LeChuck Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 In all fairness I see Ince being a decent coach. Manager - No Coach - Probably a yep Based on what? He doesn't seem to have any tactical knowledge at all. I can see him being a decent League Two/One manager because the 'guvnor' style can work at a low level. I can't see how he's capable of coaching international players though. Weren't his coaching methods heavily criticised here? Plus he has a blatant "I'm too good for these, I'm Paul Ince y'know" attitude to coaching badges.

He was one of the best midfielders in the world and worked under the best manager this country has ever seen. I reckon he has some decent stuff to share.
philipl Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Ince is thick as pig ###### and thinks motivation is by getting all the players blind drunk- allegedly.
Amo Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 He was one of the best midfielders in the world and worked under the best manager this country has ever seen. I reckon he has some decent stuff to share. In that case, all you need are a few sporting anecdotes to be a qualified coach!
Hughesy Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Has he done his COACHING badges yet?? FFS - Capello is a mug!
Wilky Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 ince Wud make a good program/pie seller maybe that's what capello ment but it got lost in translation?
broadsword Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Weren't his coaching methods heavily criticised here? Rights lads, give me 10 laps round the training pitch while I have a go, y'know, on the driving range, innit? Then off to the pub."
Smithy Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Why is everyone berating Capello? "The offer is believed to have come from Trevor Brooking, the FA’s director of football development, but had been approved by Capello." I'd be more worried that the man charged with reforming coaching in this country believes Paul "shoot" Ince is good enough.

But what is the other stock phrase of the FA- 'there are not enough black coaches/managers'. The main problems with thinking Ince is a solution to that. 1) He's useless 2) He is so bone idle and arrogant he feels that coaching badges aren't worth the effort. 3) It's insulting to all the other black coaches in the game. 4) Brooking should be above such poorly thought out tokenism.
BlueMonday Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 That article highlights everything thats wrong with English football. Inept and out of touch thinking at the FA and English coaches/managers(Yes that includes you Sam) with an inflated view of themselves. This will take 10/15 years to sort out so we should be planning accordingly. And that includes England fans adjusting expectations as well. Rovers should be doing the same. Dunny to do his coaching badges, coaching role as his playing career winds down. Coach exchange arrangement; send him to Barcalona for 18months to experience a different football philosphy and line him up as future Rovers manager when Sam gets head hunted by Real Madrid.
tony gale's mic Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Why are people even believing this rubbish? The Mirror have printed pro-Ince articles in the past (through his mate Oliver Holt) - remember that disgusting article where we got accused of racism for sacking him? They're also on the tabloid anti-Capello bandwagon so this story serves them well. It's not like the tabloids tell the pure unadulterated truth is it? Surely the following line should tell you everything you need to know about the credibility of this article: Capello’s surprise move would have put the former Blackburn and MK Dons manager in line to take over when the Italian quits as England boss in 2012. I very much doubt this is even true. Capello is one of the finest managers of his generation.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Paul Ince's tenure at Ewood was almost disasterous for Rovers. It has subsequently proved to have the same effect on his career. We've moved on, why are we still going on about him?

Another example would be last night's "Can England Win The Next World Cup?" We've only just been humiliated at the last one!

Stories will be released like this on a regular basis. It's all part of the pantomime
neekoy Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Smacks of someone trying to big his mate up to get him another opportunity in management
Amo Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 According to Trevor Brooking, Steve McClaren will be in the frame to replace Capello after 2012. If he has any sense, he'll tell them where to go.
