[Archived] Rovers Takeover

Why aren't people more excited? Because it will turn out to be more píss in the wind, I'm 99.9% sure of that. Apart from the phantom Aussies, why are only Indians being linked with the club? There's something amiss about all this attention coming from one direction, and it smells like hot air to me. If it was going to happen, it would have happened by now. I hope fans are prepared for more of the same Trust-wise, because that's how it's shaping up to me.

Bit of a weird development in all honesty, wonder why a poultry/poultry feed producer would want to buy a football club if the interest is correct? Sounds too wierd to be true imo.

Interesting bit in the BRFCS exclusive about the trust "will look at an alternative method of financing the club." Wonder what that will be? I might be wrong but I just can't see them suddenly deciding to put money into the club.

Looks likely to me that the Walker Trust will remain our owners, the comment about the trust finding finance and Nicko's recent comments about a bargain bin shortlist being drawn up for January does point to that conclusion. Glad i wasn't one of those people who got carried away with the takeover news, some people were talking about us spending hundreds of millions and bringing in the likes of Ronaldinho.

Not really, they obviously only want to pay a poultry sum for the club.

To somebody with that kind of money it`s chicken feed...

(aww come on! somebody had to do it! :D )

Personally I think, like most fans, I've had my hopes raised too often over the summer and since so that now it's a case of, "Well, if it happens, it happens. I can do nothing to influence it either way and so I'll wait to see them put their money where their mouth is and then decide what i think of it." I've never heard of them, don't see why they'd want to buy Rovers and wonder if it's just another thing that's fashionable therefore they are looking into the possibility but will soon find out there's no money to be made out of it and lose interest.

I'm surprised to see so few comments now that the latest has been revealed?

Because it sounds daft and ridiculous maybe..... ?

I think most have had enough of all this now. After all the hopes of us being a money power house again have gone up in flames most of us just want to get on with things. Lets hope the Trust give us a few million, Sam pulls out a few miracles and we can stay up a few more years.

If someone really wants to buy us and they were for real. Then they could have slammed the deal home in two weeks tops. I fail to see how special we are in this regard when all other major football takeovers have gone through in far less time than the mess these bidders are playing at.

As has been mentioned many a time in this thread, we are in the envious position of being wanted by some of the world's finest individuals/companies.... <_<

Oh God yes I forgot we are owned by a trust who are so hard to deal with and they are picking and choosing between the finest bidders to further our club

Those happen to be a lier, a pauper and a chicken feed company.

Lets move on and hope some real bidders turn up at some point.

Sources at Ewood have also indicated that if all the current takeover talks fail, then it is likely that the club will be taken off the market and the Trust will look at an alternative method of financing the club.

I seem to have become one of the bigger cynics on the mb recently and I've come to the conclusion that THIS could be the most significant development out of the last four and a half months...

My sentiment exactly Gumboots,i`m not overly convinced Rovers will be sold just yet.It seems like we are fending off a line of Del-boys and chancers at the moment.Although i hope i`m wrong,I can`t be convinced that sombody wants to buy the club just to have a plaything and be `a fan`.I personally think they see all this money bandied around for players in wages and fees, and think "yeah i`ll have some of that".

In all honesty i`ll be gobsmacked if Rovers are sold at all this season, never mind before Xmas.

I am with nicko now. I have no confidence that we will be sold.

The trust are talking to too many potential investors. What a company would normally do is have a time limit for people to submit proposals, then downselect to a to a a couple or a preferred bidder a deal with just them.

Acting in this way just means the trust will forever be getting their heads turned in the hope of 'a better offer'.

Would it not be wise, if the trust sold say 50 percent of the club, and maintain control of the club as well. In that way, they bring in somebody, who will finance the club, and ensure that the club is secure. Is that a stupid suggestion?

I have to agree with most on here if we have to continue with the trust what other ways of financing would we need to be looking at?. Also another major point people stating there might be no sale we have 5 good bids on the table surely one of them must be good I can't see how not selling could be a viable option.

I hate to say this but I'm getting very worried this whole club takeover interest from india is nothing more than bullshyte and one-upmanship.I really do fear we are getting p1ssed around from pillar to post and our club is going to come out of this episode with a very red face.Owned by Chicken feed producers worth just 200 million?.....

WTF!! <_<

I am at least cheered up by the thoughtful way the Trust are approaching this. Consider the way Liverpool was sold to Hicks and Gillette by a genuinely caring David Moores. The options to retain ownership of the club clearly demonstrates that the Trust are only intending to sell to a buyer who has been fully investigated to the best of their ability.

If we aren't sold then we may not have access to millions more but at least we will have a set of owners who have a long and respected connection with Rovers.

Nicko may be right after all but I wait with interest the final outcome. Either way the world will keep turning.

The problem is,that how much longer, can we keep on going into talks with a group without a conclusion to it. Its now or never imo, and if we dont sell now, i doubt we will be sold at all. The trust have to now realise, that they should by now have short listed buyers, and from there one of them could potentially be the best owner. It just seems, like they are just talking, and nothing else.

I have to say also if we don't get sold and the unthinkable happens and we go down we would probably go bust because looking at M'boro's plight with shrinking attendances possible relegation to div.1 this proud club would never recover so with many bidders on the scene the club needs a sale now or there will not be a club to follow not being doom and gloom just realistic.

Owned by Chicken feed producers worth just 200 million?

From the BRFCS news article it says "annual turnover of 17 billion Indian rupees", so that is a yearly turnover of £250m. Does anyone know how much they are actually worth or how much profit they make yearly? Those are the figures which are of more interest for me, but I doubt they are freely available and the website just seems to go in a little loop.

Yeah that right. very good profit is that.

Turnover is different to profit.

There is a lot of stuff out there on the founders and the company, which is better than Shah and Syed.

I finally seem to have found the accounts section on the website and maybe someone with more financial expertise would like to look them over but they don't look that amazing to me.
