Who the person behind it at VH Group?

HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE MORE DETAIL IN THE MIRROR TOMORROW [iF THEY SHARE MY INTEREST IN THE TALE, THAT IS]

Who went to the PL today? did people from VH Group and Kentaro go? John Williams go with them to the meeting?

REPRESENTATIVES OF THE TWO COMPANIES INVOLVED IN THE PARTNERSHIP - VH AND KENTARO - AS I UNDERSTAND IT.

A very interesting point about a player who turned out to be sensational for us.

However, before he arrived, I thought about him as "tainted goods"-he had fallen out in a major way at Newcastle, had had to go on loan to Celtic and there wasn't an obvious way back to the big time for him.

Nah, he was still a class player. I remember it was the last time I got genuinely excited about a player arriving!

I don't remember being too excited. I think I was more concerned with him rocking the boat

Eh? Speak for yourself, our strikeforce was made up of a motley crew of Dickov, a raw Bothroyd, Shefi Kuqi and Paul Gallagher.

I was doing cartwheels.

Well Ajax do...

Do Ajax have predominantly Dutch or non-Dutch youngsters?

I would be interested if we have any people with a reasonable knowledge of how easy it is to get working visas for young players, and if the govt's current attitude to cutting down on immigration from outside the EU is likely to make it even more difficult to get visas for this group of people.

There are NO top restaurants in Liverpool, nor Manchester for that matter. But you will find a Michelin star restaurant in Blackburn. :brfcsmilie:

Not quite Blackburn.

That was precisely the point I was alluding to. The rules for giving permits for footballers are likely to tighten appreciably. The UK is already all but a no go area for Latin American and African youngsters.

Absolutely class for us.

Was he objectively a class player just before he signed for us?

He was certainly a class player when he left.

Nicko have you found out what the VH group is actually worth yet? You say Billions, is that £'s or Indian monopoly money?

+ The top chinese in the country according to Gordon Ramsey & also the best Indian in the north west.

Have to say that I'm beginning to share that nagging feeling - when I look at the other teams in the league at present I just don't see 3 stand out poor sides.

West Ham, Wolves & Blackpool

I understand the companies under their umbrella are worth into the billions in pounds...but don't ask me for a breakdown.

Put it this way, they should not be stretched by buying Rovers and having the funds to carry on from there.

However - as these are business people - they will be expecting to expand the place and make money out of it rather than flushing it down the drain.

One person close to it did describe the initial expense of buying a club and running it as a 'money pit' but they seem prepared to fill it.

There are a good few reasons why they see this as a worthwhile enterprise - and the VH people have tried to get into sport before by all accounts. So they see the 'image' value in this.

It's in the Ribble Valley even though it might be in the Blackburn postal area.

Grey area, just because somewhere doesn't come under Blackburn borough boundaries, doesn't mean it isn't Blackburn. the Ribble Valley is a made up council area.

Tell a Wiganer that he isn't a Lancastiran

Work permit issues are getting less and less anyway - if the player is a exceptional talent then they usually get around it - so we just need to make sure the kids we choose are quality! Simples ;)

I just hope this is done over the next few weeks, otherwise January will just be a repeat of our summer window.

Heathcote had (has?) two Michelin stars at Longridge.

I don't think so, I think the Northcote has only ever had one and I don't recall him getting stars elsewhere. Great food though. His food at the Rovers was pretty good as well :)

We all know that the potential buyers and the trust will have done their homework on work permits et al. Anyway I don't think they have actually said what their plans are have they? Just supposition on here I think.

West Ham, Wolves & Blackpool

I'll give you West Ham, (who I think are the worst team in the league and have to go down this season), but the other two have played better stuff than us for large parts of the season and managers who seem to have a plan B.

Put it this way - Kevin Doyle is better than anything we have up front and Charlie Adam would walk into our midfield, although is defending in front of goal isn't the best...
