Bobby G Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 NZogbia is a proper winger. Very direct and dangerous. Much better than any other winger we have.

47er Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Agree with the majority here.If we are signing 3 players I don't think a winger is a priority. Also, if we are going to be paying 7-8M for him, it doesn't leave much for where the real priorities lie. However,if we get Bentley on loan with an option to buy and a striker on loan who can score goals it will be a terrific transfer window so I'll hold off on criticism till we've seen what happens.

I suppose the real question to answer is can he take good long throws? We need someone else if Pedersen is injured.
The Rover of Finland Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Strikers cost more money than other position players. Maybe Rovers are thinking to loan a striker with an option to buy. Nzogbia is a very realistic target. As his contracts sees final year next season Wigan should have no choice but sell if they get a good price of him. The player looked very gready last summer when his wage demands cancelled the move to Brum. He won´t get that money from here either I think.
philipl Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 One of the reason our centre gets over-run is tat we have no threatening pace on the flanks. Stick someone wide who needs double attention and the pressure in the centre inevitably eases.
chaddyrovers Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 BBC Quote: Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is set to make a record-breaking £7m move for Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia. In what way would this transfer be record breaking? our club record for a transfer. think our record is about 7 or 7.5 million pounds we paid for Andy Cole

Bobby G Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Bentley & Nzogbia would be good business. Bentley can move more inwards.
alexanders Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 agree with others saying that wideman shouldnt be first priority. centre midfield, striker and then right winger. olsson is a proper left winger.
chaddyrovers Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 You still need someone in there to do something with the ball though. Dunn and pedersen can. and if we sign Adam from blackpool then he could play the midfield playmaker.
JAL Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Charles N'Zogbia now thats more like it, a quality player will certainly improve the stock of Rovers first team. Think hes at his peak now though, so for how long that remains, I wouldnt be looking no further than two years on from now but extremely excited by this. If the other two due to come in can match this players calibre in instantly improving the overall quality of the team/squad then Rovers will be moving in a very positive forward direction in quick time. Lets do it !
The Rover of Finland Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Dunn and pedersen can. and if we sign Adam from blackpool then he could play the midfield playmaker. Forget Adam. His contract is wasn´t cancelled and he is not cheap. Not coming.
Bobby G Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 N'Zogbia is 24 years old. Definitely not close to his peak. I think he has his best years ahead of him. Needs to be more consistent, more lethal, and more productive.

magicalmortensleftpeg Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 With Pedersen playing in the middle we effectively dont have a left winger. Olsson has done ok but both Dunn and Emerton would be better on the right/centre and the other alternative is Hoilett. Nzogbia is class and is arguably the best left sided player outside of the top 4/5 teams. Great news if he arrived. If we could get a striker and a CM as well then all of a sudden Europe may not be as far away as we think.
Bobby G Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I for one think we should sign players in January, giving them time to settle for next season. Especially if we are having some long-term thinking and planning at the club.
Gav Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 We've spent nothing in the grand scheme of things for years, and only on this site will you get people turning there noses up at a possible 8m transfer into the club. Unbelievable

Unbelievable Gav, don't think people are turning there noses up, just concerned that the weak areas are not being addressed. Be honest, IF there is only to be one signing in January then 99% of people wouldn't choose a left winger. If it'a part of a bigger plan and we bring in 2 or 3 players for centre mid, right wing and forward of similarr quality then that would be hugely exciting.

Would have thought that by signing N'Zogbia this action will give the club a strong hand when it comes to negotiating E.H.Diouf's contract.

Unbelievable Only on this site do you get people moaning when we win 3-0 eh Gav? !!!! No-one will be disappointed if we sign him, just hoping the centre-midfield isn't neglected that's all. Good to see you sticking up for the manager!

NZogbia can play on the right wing like he did last boxing day at Wigan when he gave Givet a torrid first half then he went on the left wing second half and gave Chimbonda torrid time.
imy9 Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I think that signing Nzogbia would be a statement of intent by the new management, a 24 yr old French international with pl experience signing for us, wow getting excited just thinking about it, feel there are more to come too, as surely we would not blow our entire budget on a winger when striker, central midfield are our top priorities? Nicko- have the club any moves for him yet and what are our chances?
Bobby G Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 nicko, who put Nzogbia's name forward? Was it Kentaro or was it Sam?
Fife Rover Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Smashing our transfer record on Babel. Dear God. Exactly! If he's the Babel we borrowed from Liverpool during Sparky's reign I would say his true value (at todays exchange rate) is tuppence halfpenny in old money.

When did we have Babel at rovers? don't think so!!! We did sign Pongolle from Liverpool on loan in 2005/06 season
