davulsukur Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Definitely if we could make that deal happen. The guy is a class act. I just think that there will bigger clubs after him than us.

Rovermatt Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Nicko, any idea why such the contrast between what was said regarding transfer budget at the time of the takeover and the seeming reality? Or was it just simple good old fashioned bluffing? Like any self-respecting foreign owners, they're probably now itching to flex their financial muscles to impress all the other blow-ins who now control the PL's wealth. As regards Adam, he may be ex-Rangers (but then so was Tugay) however I've been impressed with him since he moved south. He's looked very comfortable in the Premier League this season and possesses the elusive ability to pass the ball to other members of the same team. For a couple of million, we should definitely sign him up.
AJW Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I've not seen an awful lot of Adam so i decided to use the ever helpful scouting tool of youtube....he does look a good player , but he is predominantly left footed , dont know how/where he would fit into our midfield with Pedersen and hopefully N'Zogbia wide left
47er Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Merry Christmas everyone. Isn't it great?!!!!!!

He looks to have a reasonable technique, but I just don't see him being good enough overall. He hasn't impressed me when I've seen him and we have to remember that anyone we bring in has to be able to compete with some of the best midfielders in the world. Is CA in that league? I don't think so.

Adam could mean Jones dropping to defence. Dunn and Adam wouldn´t play same time.

Mattyblue Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Bet you couldn't! Take it you haven't seen this then Bryan?! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/skills/7297204.stm
roversmum Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I've often wondered, how many takes it needed to make that tape ...
chris Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Take it you haven't seen this then Bryan?! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/skills/7297204.stm Matt can you remove your post I think I can make some money out of Bryan here, I'll split it 70/30. Once we have the money re-post that link. Is that Roberts or Pele.
Jackson Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Take it you haven't seen this then Bryan?! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/skills/7297204.stm Now that video really is the definition of irony.
chris Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I actually think Roberts should watch his own video, take note of the tips.
Gav Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I think the signing of Adam could only be a positive move looking at our current crop. 3 Million is hardly big money, and his wages would be reasonable also, much better option than 60k a week Smith. Allardyce has a decent record of spotting talented midfield players, so hopefully he can pull this one off and get rid of Grella and Andrews in the process.
benhben Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Lol that keeper deliberately didnt save anything

Lingzani and Goulon(sp) being great examples I guess with Kalinic another great young talent to boot. I wouldn't give the guy too much credit when it comes to nurturing young talent. Yes he can get the most out of some players, but not necessarily the youngsters. Again this is shown by his persistance of playing Jones in centre mid when we have a potential world beater at centre half.
nicko Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 I see Felipe Caicedo scored another for Levante tonight. Any idea if he's an option nicko? Chasing a striker is going to be quite an adventure in the next few weeks. The aim seems to be higher than before - but I wouldn't put any money on who is likely to actually sign on in the end.

I really hope the adventure will end in next few weeks and we have a new striker when the window opens. It´s awful if it takes the whole January to hunt someone.

It´s awful if it takes the whole January to hunt someone. Usually the case for all clubs. People keep prices sky high at the beginning, where as towards the end selling clubs become abit more desperate etc...its like one big game of chess. Not as simple as just signing who we want on the 4th Jan

John Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Benfica are leading the chase to sign Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz in January. Santa Cruz looks certain to leave Eastlands and has already been linked with a move back to his former club Blackburn. But reports in Portugal suggest that Benfica are the strong favourites to clinch his signature and they are prepared to meet the £8m valuation for the Paraguay international.

Backroom trueblue Posted December 13, 2010 Backroom Posted December 13, 2010 He would be better off in Portugal... the sun would suit his dodgy knees (heat therapy) and he would be able to work on his tan

Again this is shown by his persistance of playing Jones in centre mid when we have a potential world beater at centre half. I don't think learning to play the game properly in midfield will make him any less of a future centre half - it'll only make him even more comfortable on the ball. Playing in the centre of defence this early can shatter his confidence if he makes a few mistakes. He does look a very confident young lad, but let's not put any more pressure than necessary just yet. I do, however, think he should at least fill in for Nelsen now and then when the admiral needs a rest. He does get games as CD for the U21's so no need to worry too much just yet. £8 million there is no way i would pay that for him You have that kind of money?
