LeChuck Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I can't imagine anyone half decent will want to sign for us until we have stability.
cravenblue Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 given the current situation i can see more outs than ins this transfer window
nicko Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 What about N'Zogbia you built my hopes up with this one. I am trying to find out if that one has survived the 'cull.'
Jackson Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Charlie Adam thing is very much alive. Steve Kean was a major fan of his in the recent round of spying trips. I think that one could have a big chance for January. Ah, business as usual. Rejoice!
nicko Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 does steve kean share the same ideas with what sam allardyce in what players we need ? charlie adam looks a cracking player I have asked a lot of people about Steve Kean today - and every one has been positive. One of those is a good pal of mine who thinks he is a 'top man.' The guy could turn out to be a pleasant surprise. But it IS all about results. I can't imagine anyone half decent will want to sign for us until we have stability. In the words of that great philosopher Neil Diamond...money talks.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Nicko, I heard on Talksport radio that you got a promotion in your job. Congratulations! According to Mike 'Porky' Parry anyway! Do you think the reason why Kean is now in charge over the transfer window is because they now don't have a manager to stand in the way of any incoming transfers through the Kentaro agency?
steo Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 read today the new owners want to sign former hull player geovanni who has just left tle mls, kris boyd too.if we sign players of that calibre we are going down.i reckon we have feck all of a transfer budget again.

That was very kind of him. I will just settle for the pay rise. I can see the suspicion about the transfer window - and there is probably some truth in that. But the bottom line will be can he produce results, does he get the team playing good football and what players will actually sign. Massively interesting days ahead here.
John Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 In the words of that great philosopher Neil Diamond...money talks. Or more apt now, money and Kentaro talks...

I know there was a load of posts today but Nicko rubbish the story and did hint that that may have been a planted story from LET reporter loyal to Big Sam.
nicko Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 Or more apt now, money and Kentaro talks... Probably so. But if they bring in good players than it will be a good thing. If they are rotten they will only be ruining their OWN club. Which do you think they would prefer?
John Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Which do you think they would prefer? Taking into account the comments our owners have made since they have been interested in us (surely guided by Kentaro), plus the timing of the big decision yesterday, I think that is a difficult question to answer. Let's just hope Venky's are just encountering teething problems.
langhoblue Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Probably so. But if they bring in good players than it will be a good thing. If they are rotten they will only be ruining their OWN club. Which do you think they would prefer? Exactly - who pays £43 million on something to then balls it up and reduce the asset to dust? Especially if (as the doom mongers say) they have limited money They might be new to football but not new to making and keeping money

Let's just hope Venky's are just encountering teething problems. But does anyone really think they don't want THEIR way to succeed. It might be new, it is certainly different. But they want to do it their way.
Roversider Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 But does anyone really think they don't want THEIR way to succeed. It might be new, it is certainly different. But they want to do it their way. They definitely do want to do it their way! The real question is, will it be signings like Charlie Adam (is that why we now have a Scot in charge?) or untried Kentaro youngsters or 'experienced' Kentaro players. The real test will be in January I guess. Kean has a very good reputation, I am very curious as to whether he is really of interest for the Raos?
OJRovers Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I'm all for going after C.Adam I think he'll be a good player for a club like ours - but if they are serious about getting 4th/5th then they are going to have to look at better players than him.
John Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 But does anyone really think they don't want THEIR way to succeed. It might be new, it is certainly different. But they want to do it their way. I am sure they want to do it their way - so far though from what they have done and said though I have major concerns, they really don't seem to have any sort of plan in place at all - in relation to your Maradona comment, not sure how the hell you can compare that with Kenny's appointment, times have changed and so has the landscape, plus our owners still by all accounts will still ensure we spend one of the lowest amounts in the league. Remember they want to lease players. Rumours doing the rounds suggest that Diego Maradona is among those being mentioned for the vacant manager's post. If that's true, then Venky's really do need better advice. Expecting a man who won nothing with a forward line of Lionel Messi, Kun Aguero and Carlos Tevez to coax champagne football out of Jason Roberts and Kris Boyd, a possible January target, is beyond laughable.

'OWN" "THEIR" Are you saying along the lines of, it's Kentaros club regarding football, Raos finance the deal up front and reap the benefits fron Venky's global exposure and a share of the profit generated through Kentaros players moving in and out of the club.
AggyBlue Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 What player worth his salt is going to sign for a club without a manager? (I'm talking top players here not journeymen rubbing rags) Players sign for managers who want them. who see a specific role in the team for them.

I think you are underestimating the influences of agents nowadays. The players go where the agents tell 'em. Look at Tevez jumping from club to club (although I'm starting to think that Joorabchian[sic] has Tevez's family hostage or something!)

Didn't O'Leary sign players for Leeds when he was caretaker manager?
Exiled_Rover Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Probably so. But if they bring in good players than it will be a good thing. If they are rotten they will only be ruining their OWN club. Which do you think they would prefer? That's been my argument all day. This is their chance to basically own a football club and make a LOT of money using Rovers as a showcase for their clients. They're not going to sabotage that just to make a quick buck - or at least they won't if they're not monumentally stupid. 'OWN" "THEIR" Are you saying along the lines of, it's Kentaros club regarding football, Raos finance the deal up front and reap the benefits fron Venky's global exposure and a share of the profit generated through Kentaros players moving in and out of the club. I suspect the Rao family have taken a back seat and allowed Kentaro to run the football side of things, as they're the ones with the expertise. It COULD work for both parties, if they're smart about it.
AggyBlue Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Didn't O'Leary sign players for Leeds when he was caretaker manager? Most of O'Leary's team came through the ranks, I don't think he signed anyone as caretaker but stand to be corrected.
