nicko Posted December 19, 2010 Author Posted December 19, 2010 I was on about Venky's (therefore Rovers) being stung by Kentaro The Kentaro 'plan' is to find young players, sell them and move them on down the line. That takes years. If it is successful, you do it again...and again. This isn't a sting. You couldn't make a quick killing with Rovers. It's just an impossibility.

AggyBlue Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 It's just an impossibility. I hope th god you're right. The pointer will be, like I said, the january signings and their cost. If it points the wrong way, relegation looms.
The Rover of Finland Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 If the young talent means players to the academy it can be a great plan financially but takes many years to develop the players. If we are talking about young talent straight to the first team it´s far away from cheap business. No idea to which part of the globe Kentaro´s connections are but Africa and Eastern Europe are probably best possibilities to buy talent cheap.
Bobby G Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 So Kalinic was angry that Sam had left even though he is virtually 4th choice striker?
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Just my opinion. Alot of the squad was close to Big Sam and Neil McDonald. From my names i said before:- Samba-was made captain under big sam and he help him become a better defender Dunn-close to BS and was a kep player for big sam Robinson- BS help him with his form and confidence aswell as Bobby Mimms Kalinic- BS spent alot of time helping him settle in England, helping him developed as a player Nelsen-was close to BS, and was disspointed when he was sacked and was happy when he was appointed maybe even Pedersen-Big Sam spent alot of time with him to signed a new contract and help his form Most of the squad were massive disspointed and angry that Big Sam and Neil McDonald got sacked when he did. Unfortunately it is idle speculation like this that only undermines the club. Kean has only been in the job for 5 minutes - Venky's have yet to show their transfer hand. I am worried - nothing that has happened so far has filled me with any faith that they know what they are doing. However - the transfer window will be the true litmus test. A £5m budget and players like Boyd coming in - and I will fear the worst. The loss of Jones yesterday was huge - we suddenly look very thin for cover both in midfield and central defence. They REALLY need to show that there is a plan - and that they actually know what they are doing !
Steve Moss Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Not 100% that the scouts went with him, but I do know he just took PC's with loads of data and never returned them. This is unacceptable. I'm surprised the Trust tolerated it. So Kalinic was angry that Sam had left even though he is virtually 4th choice striker? To be fair, Sam was always complimentary to Kalinic that I can remember. And didn't he lose his place following an injury? I'm not sure, put that could explain a bit of the push down the pecking order. But with Roberts out (for a bit) and Benjani not impressing, Kalinic may get another chance. I hope he does and that he makes the most of it. As an aside, I think one of the Fox commentators said that Dunn never passes to MGP. Is that right? If so, why? It seems strange.
cn_barlow Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 i disagree with what a lot of people are saying re: kentaro's involvement. I think this is probably the best thing about this takeover. A lot of people are getting carried away with the furore surrounding big Sam's exit but the bottom line is that this window we WILL be spending money. We WILL be bringing in exciting players that will improve the squad. If this happens then we cannot complain - WE HAVE BEEN BANGING ON WANTING IT FOR YEARS! I agree with Nicko that some people need to think a bit more about kentaro's involvement. The bottom line is why would kentaro recommend rubbish players that are not going to improve the team/develop into good/outstanding players? This is the whole basis for the partnership surely? rovers buying players with good sell on potential and making profit when they develop into excellent players. Why would anyone not want this? i know for a fact i would rather have a team full of David bentleys, stephen warnocks etc than a team full of bargain basement freebies who do not improve the quality of the team whatsoever!
philipl Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Does anyone really imagine that an agency - under such scrutiny - are going to put crap into THEIR club? Did you really mean that? We are Kentaro's club, as in we are effectively their's?
Bobby G Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Actually nicko has said that quite a few times already.
nicko Posted December 19, 2010 Author Posted December 19, 2010 Did you really mean that? We are Kentaro's club, as in we are effectively their's? The club is owned by Venky's, who are in a strong alliance with Kentaro. Both benefit from the success - if tere is any. And both would take a heavy kicking if they fail. Or do you still have them 20 rows apart in the stand?
John Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Still would be strange if Kean, as an interim manager, is backed with hard cash in January. Maybe if we had a full time manager in place it could make sense to spend money as he would want to work with those players in the future.
Ricky Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Is this where Phil comes in and says that photo was photoshopped??

I agree to the extent we do need to try a new business model. I am very uncomfortable with the Luddite approach being taken by many before there has been a chance to see how it develops. There are merits to the Kentaro/Venkys alliance as well as risks. It isn't in their interests to screw this up is it? What does need to be improved is the PR and communications.
slough_rover Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Is this where Phil comes in and says that photo was photoshopped?? Now, now we dont want to make accusations like that or certain board members may take legal action against you!xx

To be fair, it would make more sense to give him the job for the season now and stop the 'trial' stuff.
67splitscreen Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Everybody looks happy........ Maybe it is just when they changed seats and were glad to see the back of Anderson that put the smiles on there faces. There's plenty others that show less joyous expressions. As posted before.
Dunnfc Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 After reading weeks of comments i want to say this: We are Blackburn Rovers fans! Not venkys fans whoever owns us will never be bigger or better fans then ourselves, keep coming to Ewood and getting behind the boys, its time to put the seatbelts on because we are in for a tough ride for the rest of the season. Sams gone and whilst he did a great job he wasn't a Venkys man. Steve Kean is the gaffer now and we have got to get behind him and support him and give him our trust until he screws up. In Kean we trust!!! We have won the league and been relegated and we have always supported this club! No amount of whining or moaning or new owners is going to change that for me. We are one of the smallest teams in the league and for the past few years its been a miracle in staying up, weve taken a risk now and we are out of the walkers shadow. lets look to the future and dont dwell on the past. Owners come and go but this club will still be here and hopefully we as fans will be!!! COYR
philipl Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Is this where Phil comes in and says that photo was photoshopped?? Not the same game.

Kelbo Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Well, I have said my piece and people know where I stand on this matter, however, I have read Nickos post and am prepared to wait and see, however, I wont be holding my breath as I do recall Man City signing players under Anderson, all who were sold at a loss!!

Man City is a strange case though. You have to rememember the players Anderson was involoved in bringing in were in the Thai guys reign. He went quikly then the situation changed drastically, they had unlimited funds and were looking at players in a whole different league so its understandably some ofthe earlier buys were let go at aloss.

However I've seen no evidence that the owners are that wise or that generous. If they were going to sign 3 quality players like Warnock, Bentley and Keane. Most fans would be happy with that! Nicko has told us that they want to sign young up and coming players. We also need good experience players around the age of 26-28. I think the owners want to follow the arsene wenger model, of signing young players and developing them into very good players. I not got a problem with that at all. But the owners have to start communicating better with the rovers fans! Tell us what their plans are and in the future! We should start this by getting in a manager who has done this at a club or somebody who is willin to do it this way.

Yes I agree, the Wenger model took a few years to build though Chaddy, at the moment, we need a few players now! As for the manager, I agree and someone like O'Driscoll would be the kind of person to do that, his coaching style (teams playing style) is not dissimilar to Arsenal, however, can he keep us in the premiership at present?
