I think if anything Sam's departure could prompt some players to look for a change - let's not be silly on this as money always talks but he was held in very high regard by most of the first team.

For example, Robinson, Salgado, Dunn, Nelsen, Samba all loved working under him and said he was one of the best manager's they have ever had.

A message for Chris Samba:

You are the captain of Blackburn Rovers Football Club. Act like you are the captain.

Do you have a short memory from your time at Hertha Berlin? Playing in their reserves must have been so gratifying compared to being captain of a premiership club.

If you want to go just go, but do not use the turmoil at Blackburn Rovers to hawk yourself around like a cheap trick.

You make me seethe.

I think you are being very harsh on Samba. As far as I concerned he has paid his dues - and until this turmoil never said a bad word about the club. IMO he is only echoing the concerns of the fans - unfortunately for true fans we can't just transfer to another club to escape the current turmoil.

Nicko, it was just reported that Kean will be the man and Venky´s give him four new players. But the kitty mentioned there was £5M!!! Four new Keith Andrews?

The story is a very average follow-up to what has been happening for the past few days, written by a very average reporter. The chap may even be a poster on here now...

Nobody can say how many players will arrive by the end of January. The amount of money spent will depend on the need and the cost.

*And, by the way, if there is one more post deleted it will be the last.

Can't blame Samba - it was such a weird decision to sack Sam, most people are completely bemused.

Even Kean said last week there was very strange/low atmosphere around the place.

Of course we need to get over this, but worrying thing for everyone is what does the future hold with strange minded owners in charge.

Sounds to me like he has done.

The headline over-eggs things. If Venky's get a grip they can keep Samba. Carry on like they are and he goes. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I think he's done the right thing. Shutting up and watch a hatchet being taken to a well-run club and taking it like a bitch would be worse.

Have the Venky under lords infiltrated our humble message board now?

First Radio Rovers and now signs of our esteemed journo being silenced...

On your bike. Samba has done more for the club than we have for him. We took a minimal gamble on him being an ok player which has worked out brilliantly for us.

He is not saying he wants to leave for greed like most professionals these days. He is concerned at the actions of the new owners in removing a manager who he respected and trusted and replacing him with nobody. Not only that but they felt it appropriate not to bother informing the players they were doing it.

Much like if JW had left I blame none of the players if they turn around and say they want out. At the moment we are a joke and need a strong leader to take control.

I wonder if this was done after a chat with all the other players. The two players to so far voice their concerns are the club captain and the team captain. I am hopefully Samba and Nelson before him are talking on behalf of all the players so that Venky's get a clear message and listen to the criticism they have been getting. People on here get hysterical but the reasons they get hysterical are valid. Hopefully comments from the senior players and other PL managers etc.. will hit home with Venky's. If they sacked SA on Kentro's say so, maybe they now realise doing everything a conflicted organisation say is not the way to go.

Saw the SSN tweet on this story just now - absolutely shocked and bemused.

Have two ideas on what might be happening.

1 - as John says above, it's a reaction to Sam's sacking and, if so, more could be to follow and there's trouble at t'mill.

2 - it's nothing more than an attempt to get a new contract with a lot more money from these new owners.

.... time will tell.

I agree, these things have to be said and it's not about money or greed.

I think you'll find Samba only signed a new contract last season and is tied to the club for about another 4 years.

Not that a contract of that length really means anything.

This is another thing that the owners have misjudged so badly; the players reaction. If they see the club being run by a bunch of no-hopers, who haven't the first clue about football, then why would they want to hang around? If they see the club sliding backwards and that the players we sign aren't because they make us better but because they are linked to a certain sports agency, then I can see them wanting to go. I'm glad he's spoken out - it just echoes what everyone else is thinking. Hopefully he is using it as a way of getting the owners to see how unpopular they've made themselves, not only with the fans but the players too and they need to act fast and start making some positive movements to clean up the s##t storm they have caused.

In defense of the owners and this is a weak defense, I know an indian fella at work and his behaviour is not dis-similar.

It could be a cultural divide here.

I think we are all divided as to whether they mean well but don't know what the implications of their words is having.

When Houghton was sacked last week I did not hear the Newcastle captain stating his desire to leave or condemning the management?Nor did I hear it at Dpurs when Jol was fired before a game had started, likewise Hughes, all of the situations mentioned are far worse than ours to managers who can easily justify their positions, so what prompted Samba? His agent and money I feel, which is a shame as club captain he should lead from the front not hide.

Edit- Nicko has confirmed in another thread that Samba had wanted out for months and has three agents on the case, guess Venkys were on his mind then too...

Call me naive, but if we have one player who appears to be an honest, grounded, decent fella, who works damn hard for the team and the club, then I'd say it was Samba.

One of the very few genuinely good players at Ewood who would command a large fee in January.

Samba and Jones are the two players I would have expected interest in from other clubs in the transfer window and who are worth a fairly large fee.

With Jones injured, selling Samba represents our new owners' best immediate chance to re-coup some of their outlay, were they looking to do so, of course.

I feel likewise. Timing is awful though to sell Samba. I´d like to see Hanley given chance but we just can´t sell Samba while Jones in injured.
