*And, by the way, if there is one more post deleted it will be the last.

Umm, not quite sure what you're on about there Nicko. I've looked in the deleted posts and there is one post from you which got deleted this morning. It was the one where you were of the view that Phil should be sectioned..... now that's entirely reasonable but it was removed as it quoted Phil's post which was removed as it was probably not the wisest post to leave on here. We are trying our best to keep anything that could be libelous off the MB and that one was borderline.

can't see anything else thats been deleted.

I said Phil should "see someone" ie seek help for his obsession and you deleted that. Is there no Christian charity left in the world?

That was the one.

I am glad you also thought the original remark was of a very dodgy nature.

Thnaks for clearing that up.

You old cynic you......

Yes, cynical, I admit, but just taking a realistic view of how the footballing world works. We all know that no-one will actually say that they want to leave because someone else is offering more money, or they've had a major bust up with their team mates or the manager, or they got dropped from the team and have been sulking ever since, but that's how it is.

How much would people feel a reasonable fee for Samba ? Before anyone says anything - personally I don't think we should let him go.

Just saw one internet report qouting £8m !

Personally I would tell interested teams to start the bidding at £15m+.

Lets not forget he isn't cup tied for european football - which would be attractive for anyone still in the european competitions.

I think £8M sounds pretty reasonable considering his apparent desire to leave. There's not much we can do if that's true. He'll sulk if we reject any reasonable offer and we can't afford to let him rot in the reserves.

£8 million sounds about right, maybe even too much.

He's an excellent 'backs-to-the-wall' defender, but he wouldn't be any use to top teams because he's so uncomfortable on the ball, and still slightly error prone.

LT on Samba threat to quit Quotes-

The Lancashire Telegraph understands that no verbal or written transfer request has been issued by Samba, contrary to reports.

But the 26-year-old said: "If this is the way the club's going to be run from now on, I don't want to be part of it and I want to leave.

"As captain it's very difficult to say this but I've thought long and hard about it. Nobody in football understands the decision to sack Sam."

"The players and fans need answers about the club's future. Unless we commit to who the manager is, how can we attract big players in January?"

Sorry for taking this further OT in advance but would it be possible to edit posts (with a note to say why by the mod) rather than totally delete them?

Given the shananigans of the last couple of weeks I am really not that bothered if any of our players want to jump ship.

Lets face it, like ot or not we are going to be restructuring the team over the next 18 months. When you look at the team its full of over 29's or under 21's. Where are the players at the peak of their career, am I right in thinking that Pedersen and Samba are the only 2?

Not that many people were too bothered about Pedersen last season when his contract was up for renewal. Samba? Good player, but not irreplaceable.

Jones and perhaps Robbo aside, is there anyone else at the club that couldn't be replaced by better?

No point keeping players at the club who want to leave, they all find out the grass isn't greener eventually....

nb - can't believe nobody has used the "Revolting players" line yet

Samba isn't going to be the last to talk about transfer requests if others can find a route out of their contracts (you'll have to read between the lines again I'm afraid). Maybe we can sweep the decks clean and bring in a whole lot of hired guns to save the village - make a great film - BRFC and the seven kentaro samurai - BRFC and the magnificent kentaro seven. Or, speaking of films we could go for The Rise and Fall of the Walker Empire. Suggestions on a postcard please.

Rafael Benitez on his way....Sacked by Inter today!

Venky's made contact.

Really can't see this happening, TBH. Very few ticks in boxes on either side. Mainly...

We won't have the sort of exorbitant transfer budget that he would required (to blow on distinctly average players)

He doesn't provide attractive football.

A message for Chris Samba:

You are the captain of Blackburn Rovers Football Club. Act like you are the captain.

Do you have a short memory from your time at Hertha Berlin? Playing in their reserves must have been so gratifying compared to being captain of a premiership club.

If you want to go just go, but do not use the turmoil at Blackburn Rovers to hawk yourself around like a cheap trick.

You make me seethe.

A Quote from Nicko

This may be the wrong place to throw more light on this. But what the hell.

Samba has had about three agents working to get him a move for the past few months.

One of them used to be the former manager's agent.

But it turns out his latest agent is even more intriguing - Kenny Shepherd, son of Freddy, who used to be Sam's boss at Newcastle.

Are we getting a picture here yet?

Anyway...Samba's strop over Sam's axeing does not really fit so well when you consider he has been looking for a pay day elsewhere for quite some time.

Big name manager though, wonder how he woulod get on if not able to spend big.

I have no idea what sort of money he spent at Valencia during his succesful time there.

Must say, his list of signings isn't very inspiring - http://www.liverweb.org.uk/benitez.asp

He doesn't seem to do very well at uncovering raw talent for small amounts of money, most of his lower cost signings are pretty poor. If you look at the signings he made for around £2 million (surely the sort of fees we are looking at), then it is mainly dreadful;

Leto, Josemi, Paletta, Nunez, Kyrgiakos, Gonzalez...

Pointless even doing this though, no way will he consider coming here!
