SergioPeter89 Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Yeah, Wenger just loves his first touch. Spurs were at the game last weekend...watching someone else. The big chap may have to climb down very shortly. Nice to see the line about angling for a move for some time has come out. How's your rebellion going? Probably watching Scott Parker, and I guess they liked what they saw.

Ricky Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Parker was going to be my guess. Even more of a chance of getting hold of one of their midfielders then.
Miker Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 What makes me laugh is Samba says he wants to leave due to the way Big Sam was treated but Kean has said today on SSN that Samba's agent has told him that he has wanted to leave for 12 months. Uhhhh ... He signed a new contract about 15 months ago. So apparently he signed a new contract even though he wanted to jump ship? Did he change his mind after 3 months?
Taggart Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 What makes me laugh is Samba says he wants to leave due to the way Big Sam was treated but Kean has said today on SSN that Samba's agent has told him that he has wanted to leave for 12 months. Kean 1 Samba 0 ... Its been great having you Samba but don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out. We want men at our time of need not people using the Sam as an excuse to jump ship. Good post Cesus
cesus Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Contracts mean naff all in football, you are very naïve Miker if you think that footballers at a smaller club like our (unfortunately) sign contracts for any other reason than to earn more cash until a better offer comes along. For me Kean has no need to lie about Samba and people can see SSN for themselves the quote is there.
Bazrakats Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Just watched sky sports clip of the press conference. Kean seemed to handle it all very well. Interesting to see who could be on that list of players there after.
Miker Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Sorry, I forgot that players are evil, deceitful liars and Steve Kean is our knight in shining armour.
cesus Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I'm not trying to argue with you Miker, all I'm saying is the club is rocking at then moment and our captain has gone public in his desire to leave us, he can leave I have no problem with that at all. Agents can contact other clubs in private, Samba's agent could have done that but no he went public and has added to the pantomine that is Blackburn Rover Football club at the moment.
BiggusLaddus Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Sorry, I forgot that players are evil, deceitful liars and Steve Kean is our knight in shining armour. So you actually believe that Samba wants to leave over Sam and isn't just using this as the excuse that he's been waiting for? To give him some credit, many players wouldn't even wait for that excuse to come along.
Ricky Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Miker, didnt Santa Cruz sign a new contract even though he was always planning on leaving?
deftangel Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 If Samba feels we aren't a club that he wishes to play for any more then fair enough. I don't personally hold that against him. As Miker says, there are analogous scenarios in vocations other than Professional Football that most people would never complain about. I am somewhat dubious about it being the only reason but still. In the long term we currently have four good CB's who we are currently trying to shoehorn into the same team. Even on the proviso that Nelson is entering his later years, selling one to address the desperate deficiencies in the middle of midfield we've had for YEARS is not the worse bit of business I could imagine. It should be noted that said deficiency hasn't been addressed by previous management, both recent and old. The team playing with four center-backs being largely down to the previous one. If our admittedly very green manager was to make a good stab at addressing both those issues in January I would venture he'd be off to a good start. We shall see.
AJW Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 there WILL be investment in new players , no-one will HAVE to leave , if anyone who WANTS to leave they can - for the right price , the young up-and-coming players WILL NOT be sold its been a long time since we've heard those kind of statements http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_6609006,00.html
T4E Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I quit my job and went somewhere better after the management in my company changed. The new managers were incompetent and made things unbearable at work. Best decision I made in my life. They all got sacked not long after due to a myriad of issues and now they have even worse management there, so much so that all the remaining seniors have now quit as well and moved on. If Samba doesn't find himself enjoying life at the club anymore then it's his prerogative to leave. Owners don't care who they bring in, but those that have to work for them do. People comparing football to real life workplace situations is one of the more ridiculous things that you can read on here, yet it happens frequently. Do you have 20k people turn up to your work once or twice a week to cheer your name, sing your praises and spend their own hard earned cash on keeping you rich? Your only responsibility is to yourself and your family - a footballers responsibilities go far deeper than that. When all is going well and the player is happy then we often hear statements about how important the fans are. Once that player has had enough we get shoved to one side and they become self serving. If a player wants to leave that's fine, they should be allowed to do so. But they should do it in a way that show respect to the people that made them and the only ones they can rely on - us.
Steve Moss Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_6609006,00.html Excellent interview. If they mean it, don't contradict it, and follow through on it, the Rovers may be climbing the table again.
ackroyd75 Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 no one player is bigger than the team. Well actually i think Chris Samba is the biggest in our team!

Very well put. Samba has gone down in my estimation just as others have done before him. We realise they don't 'support' the club in the way that the fans do, but just show us some respect. Look at the good reception Robbo gets when he returns to former clubs. Says a lot about the man really.
bob Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Who can blame Samba for wanting away? BRFCS is a mess currently and I say good luck to him! I think most stupid person currently is Kean for thinking he will get big investment from the current mob in charge!
Ricky Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 BRFCS is a mess currently We're doing our best
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Sack the mods Boo the admins! BRFCS is a mess
nicko Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 Just to confirm on Steve Sidwell...there was no Rovers interest in the chap...he was always going to London... http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_6608500,00.html

But the point is, it looks very much as though he's been 'wanting away' for a very long time and has chosen now to let that be known. Just when we needed a captain to stand up and be counted too.
Torgeir Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 What's Milan Baros up to these days? Probably staring down a tunnel somewhere.
AJW Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Nicko Big Sam wanted a central midfielder a right midfielder and a striker ...do you beleive Kean will want to strengthen in the same area's
