We could become a showcase for barca's promising kids? Damn you Venkys.

Got a feeling that the striker you are teasing us with is Cardozo.

Better than being a showcase for Chelsea's unpromising youngster---Di Santo

or Utd's bit more promising youngster-------Mame Diouf!

Steven Ireland is just 24 - and without a doubt was City's main man a couple of seasons ago before they dumped him for a more high profile name.

Ireland & Bentley in a stable environment would do very well for us, without doubt!

Good point Hughesy.

Do you think Venky's will be any good at doing "stable"?

As I said to my City friend after watching them against Fulham a few years ago - City miss a play maker. And that was with Ireland on fire. He's a decent player, but he can only play in a midfield 5 and he's not creative enough.

He's like Gamst. Everyone thinks he's better than he is because he lives off highlights. Very much a MOTD player.

Has everybody forgot the totally inept performance from Steven Ireland a couple of weeks ago against Rovers, some short memories on here.

Have you forgotten how poorly people spoke of Pedersen not too long ago? Now he's the bee's knees again.

You can't realistically hold Ireland's performances since Mancini took over at Man City against him. He was relegated to a bit part player at the club despite being the best player at the club at the time. How many players were brought in to play in his position by both Hughes and Mancini?? Don't blame him for being poor at Aston Villa either. I imagine he was forced into the move by Man City. It's not like Aston Villa are doing that brilliantly anyway. He's shown he can play to a high level though.

I don't think Romeu is the only young Barca player on the list...but he seems the most available.

And, no, it's not Cardozo.

Should know a bit more after today.

Damn!

Must say that the players we've been linked with are much better than previous windows. It seems we are going to be taking a punt on good young players around the £3-£5 million bracket. Something we couldn't afford to risk in the past. If the players are 20 - 22 they've much more chance of fulfilling potential. If two out of four double in value it becomes cost effective. Aim to sign 2 young players and one experienced every window for 2 years and blend the team. Then move one on every year and bring two in.

O'Hara is the perfect player for Rovers. He's shown with Pompey that he's up for a fight and the box-to-box midfielder we sorely lack.

What he said. We don't need another midfielder who strolls around the field with a handbag and avoids all contact, we already have MGP. O'Hara could be the well overdue replacement for Savage. MGP/O'Hara should work for in two man midfield and accompanied with N'Zonzi or Jones or someone similar would be good for playing with three man in the middle.

I've seen him quite a few times whilst playing for Portsmouth and in every game he was easily their MOTM. He's a very talented player, maybe his attitude doesn't appear to be the best off the pitch but on it he is very dedicated and is not only a great box to box midfielder but his passing is super too. He can pull the strings in midfield whilst having a bit of bite in the tackle too.

Personally, I couldn't think of any other player who could fit into our squad from day one and make a huge impact unless we start talking about the top stars of this world. He's ideal for us.

Still find it slightly odd that we may back the manager, with permanent signings, when he only has the job until the end of the this season (loans signings are different of course).

Also, most Premier League clubs have a pretty comprehensive backroom staff teams these days - would be surprised if no one is brought in soon to help out.

I wouldn't be surprised if all our first team signings would be loan signings. One from Prem and couple from abroad.

Yes, its probably the same people who are consistantly wide of the mark.

Ireland isnt of the calibre to take Rovers into the top five.
