Agreed, though it is another shameless example of player power.

Unbelieveable. I cannot think of another walk of life where so many people would side with a contract breaking company over an individual. Just another example of the tribalism and emeotion that football invokes in fans completely clouding judgement.

If Charlie Adam was contracted to receive £20k, then he should receive £20k. Those saying "whats £20k to a Premier League footballer?" - I would imagine it means significantly more to him that it does to a Premier League football club. Both parties signed a contract under certain terms, the terms should be honoured.

Charlie Adam had a survival bonus put in his own personal contract. It was due to be paid when Blackpool were safe. It was not paid.

The promotion bonus, shared by the team who had won promotion, was a totally separate bonus.

It would be an open and shut case for the Premier League - if it was not for the question of breach of contract and a possible free transfer being thrown into the mix.

Why? He (and the team) achieved both. Therefore he should be paid both.

don't normally write on here and people can take this with a pinch of salt , but i have just been told by a first team player at blackpool that charlie adam will sign for us in january, be it for a fee or free transfer, he said adam had already spoken to people at blackburn and has had his head turned by us . Maybe nicko could shed any light on this ??

Bloody hell, Vince is talking a bit as though he thinks he needs to reassure us he is happy here because we're angry he wanted to go to Galatasaray. We're angry he DIDNT go to Gala!! Just admit it Vince, it's all about the money and the easy life for you. Contract (lucrative) is up in the Summer isn't it? You just want to leave on a free after wasting our money and, by being free instead of requiring a 2 million fee, earn yourself another pretty packet. Wish you'd buggered off when we had the chance.

Well, what I'd want to pay for him and what he's worth to Blackpool wouldn't be the same thing. But honestly, I've only really seen glimpses of him anyway so won't name a price. He's a good age though. Whatever the case, rather have him on a free!

Would be a bit worried by how he's treated the club who rebuilt his career though. Without being privy to the contract though, it sounds like Blackpool should have paid him the 20k. But I don't feel that warrants terminating the whole contract. Yes yes, I know that's how contractual law works, it can be done, but that doesn't mean it is -right-. Sounds to me like fair would be say, 100k compensation plus court costs covering.

I think the fact is that we are keen to bring him in , and it seems as though he wants to come, so i think its a case of fingers crossed for a freebie , but more than likely a bid to buy him . Nicko will prob have more idea on the price , i also have a rather bizarre transfer tale for him .

Google it, the Blackpool squad had a huge bonus on promotion split pro rata depending on games payed etc.

Not sure about paying a fee for him - Bpool will overprice him for sure. It depends how his claim goes I suppose.

Adams signed for 500k according to the Mail, Aug 2009 three year deal with a 1 year additional option.

If the contact is not in breach, I can see them holding out for at last 5m IMO.

Blackpool paid the £5 million promotion bonus to the players. They had to.
