beerwins
Adam: average player given the license to get forward, decent left foot nothing more. Will he end up here? Not a chance, I cant believe Blackpool would'nt pay the 20 g they owed him, is he doing this to get 20 g back or is he doing this to try and get an easy move away from Blackpool, who knows. One thing is for sure we need him like a hole in the head, he would end up just another average midfielder on good wages with the rest of our midfield from hell. Tugay cursed this club the day he was ousted out and we have'nt seen a decent midfielder yet.

Fylde Coast Fan
Adam's a very good player who would improve our side. Easily as good as Dunn, though as prone to off days as Dunny is to injuries. He was poor at Rangers in a 4-4-2 but in a three man central midfield he can run the whole game. Stick him in with a bodyguard like NZonzi and he'll get 10 goals minimum.
Amo
Takeover permitting...he should be far too low a standard for us. Why? From the sounds of it, we're hardly going to buy big.
Hughesy
Why? From the sounds of it, we're hardly going to buy big. Whether we buy big or not...we can attract better players, whether it be freebies (end of contracts etc - i.e. Carew, Larsson) or whether it be young talent from France and similar places. Adam could perhaps do a job for 1 or 2 seasons, but personally id rather we signed young, pacey wingers.
Fylde Coast Fan
I agree that Adam at the price Blackpool would expect would be a poor investment for us, but on a free I'd bite his hand off. As far as attracting players "significantly better than him" after a takeover, I fear you'll be seriously disappointed. Can't imagine we'll be making comparatively better signings than we did under Hughes, for example.
sweet
I'm not quite sure how anyone can make any comment on what quality of player we will be able to sign, until we know for sure how much we have to spend. If it is the 10 million a season, as reported by certain newspapers, I would imagine we would be competing with sunderland/birmingham. If it is more, and we are actually going to compete for a top 4 place, as suggested by Desai in her Q+A - then competing with villa for similar targets would be a realistic aim. That should tell you how poor we are in midfield.

joey_big_nose
Watching Bolton v. SPurs. Boton are playing brilliantly. Have to say we seem to have really missed out on Holden and Muamba looks excellent also. To be honest Bolton look like a much better outfit than us right through their team. Maybe we shade them in defence but their midfield makes us look like amateurs and while Elmander is deeply average Davis is much more of a threat than anyone we have. Worrying when you say that about a team who are competing against us mid table.
Miker
I have to say, fair play to Owen Coyle for creating a quality team like the one at Bolton, but their players are so much better than ours. First of all, they have a pair of proper strikers in Elmander and Davies who are way out of our price range. Second of all, their wingers: Lee and Petrov are brilliant as well, I am a huge fan of both. They are weak defensively, but they really do have some wonderful attacking options. Hughesy
Coyle inherited better players thats all. Lee, Muamba, Elmander, Davies, Cahill etc where all their before he joined. Also do not forget Spurs NEVER do well at the Breezeblock!!

Eventually he'll be with a top 4 club, possibly via Everton.

We might have taken the p'ss out of him at Burnley but he is proving to be a bloody good manager. If you really want, you can pass that on Nicko lol

Also do not forget Spurs NEVER do well at the Breezeblock!! Come off it Hughesy, if you swapped the teams around you'd be saying 'They have better players- they have Jones, Diouf, Pedersen'. Coyle has been helped by being able to buy players like Petrov, but the guy obviously has something.
Fylde Coast Fan
Petrov was a free, and on wages we probably could have stretched to.
Hughesy
Lets just see who end up higher before we judge him eh. Elmander simply lacked confidence, abit like alot of strikers. And Petrov is supposed to be on MASSIVE wages....higher than any of our boys. Also going off most Bolton fans I know, he hasnt done alot so far. chaddyrovers
Rovers linked with Alan Smith of Newcastle in the news of the world. Don't have a link to the article cos you have paid to read it online. Also spurs have put Bentley and Kranjcar up for sell. Either would be good signing. I would personally sign Kranjcar because he could play the role just behind the striker and could play wide left aswell.
Tyrone Shoelaces
I don't want Alan Smith at any price. He's not a striker anymore, when he was he didn't score enough goals, even in good teams. In midfield he plays like a square peg in around hole, we've got enough of those already. Worrying that Sam apparently sees him as worth recruiting. Either of the other two would add something to our team.

Tyrone Shoelaces
I meant to add I'm very impressed with what Coyle has done at Bolton. If the measure of a manager/coach is the improvement of players he's worked wonders there. How many of our players have improved in the last two seasons ? Amo
I don't think Bolton have a particularly stronger side than us, even if they have spent more. Coyle has got them playing with confidence and given them another edge to their game, so they can mix it about as well as going long, something I'd love to see from Rovers but we have no consistency. Alan Smith? If he could keep fit then I'd take him. We're lacking steel in our midfield.
