Exiled_Rover
Jason Roberts still expects to quit Blackburn despite scoring the winner against former club Wigan on Saturday. Good.

Mattyblue
I imagine Krancjar will be on big wages but I dont recall them paying a lot for him, around the 4 mill region, he hasnt really set the world on fire down there but he could do for us. He could be a realistic option and has the creativity we lack so badly, could be a cracking player for us in the hole behind the striker. In thinking about that where is Jamie o Hara now? He has a cracking engine and could be good buy, not seen him feature at all for Spuds. I think I'm correct in saying that Tottenham don't pay massive wages- considering Bale's new contract will only take him to MGP levels says it all! ben_the_beast
With interest obviously very high in Jones what price do you think is reasonable. Personally I would consider £20 million minimum with absolutely no reason why if the rumours of so many clubs being interested are true why we couldn't start a bidding war and hold out for up to £30 million. Though to be honest I don't really see any reason to sell unless he demandsa transfer which I really don't see happening this early on in his career. A bit of good man management could go a long way here. A quiet word or two in his ear reminding him of the benefits of first team football and a protected solid base to develop his football upon. All hypothetical of course but just wondering what people think would be a fair price should it come to it.
Fylde Coast Fan
I don't believe there's serious interest in Phil Jones yet. Every club in the Premier League will be keeping a close eye on him, certainly, but I doubt there'll be a real approach in January. Next Summer, especially if he gets a run in the team at centre half, I can see him going for 12-15.
Backroom Tom Posted November 8, 2010 Backroom Share Posted November 8, 2010 Yep £10-15 mill is far more realistic than £20m and as for the suggested £30m that's just laughable take off the blue and White specs. If we got offered above ten I imagine we would sell and I think I'd be inclined to agree as long as the money was to go back into the squad. gumboots
£20m for an 18 year old is la la land. Depends who's buying, how they structure it and how desperate you are for a young, homegrown player.
S15
Jone's isn't worth more than £10m. He might end up being, but right now he isn't. Some of the figures thrown around on here make me question the sanity of some posters.
47er
£20m for an 18 year old is la la land. The more the commentators keep saying "certain to be a future England international" and "the new John Terry", the more his value goes up! Anyone buying him now would solve a key position problem for years to come. So lets not talk him down eh? This is a Rovers site after all! Final point--------never sell him ever till we have no choice
Ricky
He's not even managed to secure his favoured position at ewood park yet. I'm sure he'd need a decent run at CB before the so called big clubs came in for him. He's a great prospect but then so was Michael Ricketts a few years ago. Players who burst onto the scene do sometimes fade just as quickly, for every Wayne Rooney there's a Massimo Maccarone. If we could get a decent midfield and a forward in exchange for Jones it may be something we should consider. Pavluachenko (sp?) and krancjaer in exchange for jones would be good business. Bobby G
Pavlyuchenko and Krankjar for Jones? Why would Spurs do that. 10 million cash is the most we can expect and I wouldnt consider it. Closer to 15m is a different story but it wont happen. I can see the team being built around Jones for years to come like Chelsea with Terry but our owners must have high ambitions. beerwins
I dont think Jones would want to go anywhere, He lives with his parents, born and bred small town lad moving to the big smoke on his own at 18 year's old. I would'nt want to see him go either, he is a future talent that for me would be Nelsens replacement, If we are getting took over and money is to be made available it sends out wrong signals to the fans to sell our young stars, although if we could get around the 10 mill mark with another 10 mill invested that could buy us the quality in midfield and a very good striker. Its a tricky one.
Majiball
We're about to be bought and will be given funds to buy some players. We have absolutely no need to sell him. I'm sure the young lad realises that playing 1st team for us is 10 times better for him than doing say what Smalling is at United.
philipl
Potentially a huge test very early on for the new ownership this one. There will be a price at which Jones would be sold- look at how McEvely and Tiny Taylor turned out after being young wonders at Ewood. That said, I really do think Jones is the genuine article. I think 12 to 14 with a sell on clause may give Rovers something to think about. Unless they also went for player exchange. But may not even have to do that if the takeover goes through and Kentaro have a tiny little say in transfers etc.

Majiball
With new owners coming in, do you really think they want one of the first things they do to be selling our prize asset? Jones will be around for a while yet.
gumboots
With new owners coming in, do you really think they want one of the first things they do to be selling our prize asset? Jones will be around for a while yet. I think so too, but there is a price at which every club will sell. If I were Jones, I'd be looking at the fact that I'm currently the youngest regular starter in the league and wondering if I'd get that elsewhere. Do at least another year here and see how we go. If we do well your value goes up, you're more likely to get a starting place where you move to, and you can really push it on wages, so if you want to move then it's a better deal all round. Hopefully that's what he's being advised by those who influence him.
