Who?

I think he means Givet, making noises about going back to france.

Wheater would be a good signing as a replacement if we also brought in a much needed left back.

As far as SWP goes,I'd definetly take him, desperately need a bit of pace down the right hand side. Lets remember he has serious speed and a good finish and has proven premiership experience. Seb Larsson is on a free at the end of the season but SWP is considerably better IMO.

Left wing is deep with Olsson, MGP,Diouf and Hoilett so we need a Right.

I'm very interested in this German kid Petersen, sounds like the real deal for a good low price. Was Samba playing in the German second division when we snapped him up for a mere 400k?

For me in order of importance

1) Right Winger

2) Left Back

3) Attacking midfielder/ striker

This is based on Kalanic being good which I remain confident he is.

1) Winger like Bentley. Can cross and take free kicks. LARSSON

2) Striker who scores from the winger´s crosses. CROUCH

3) Left back letting unsettled Givet leave to home. BRIDGE

4) CM who can pass the ball. TOULALON

5) Right back but not needed right away. CLYNE

HOW MUCH DO WE HAVE AGAIN ???:rolleyes:

Personally still think striker has to be the first signing - hopefully the marquee one. A quality striker guaranteeing 15 goals a season would guarantee survival and with a little additional strengthening would allow a push for Europe.

Looking around, without taking a punt on a foreign striker Crouch seems the most plausible possibility.

If Givet leaves we should use the money to bring in a decent leftback.

Then, as others have mentioned, a decent ball playing midfielder/attacking midfielder and a right winger with pace - jobs a good un!

Just £20 million required then......

The squad has needed this level of investment for several years. Three or four quality players in and we could happily go back to being a trading club ie small kitty boosted by sales.

Hope the new owners realise this.

On another note, I also think signing Mame Diouf permanently at the end of the season (if fee not ridiculous) would be a decent shout.

Agree about diouf junior!

Bentley, SWP and Crouchie! 3 English players---has a nice ring to it!

And is highly unlikely. Crouch and bentley would cost about £15million+ we are talking about spurs here. .

The three positions that are being looked at are - striker, right side midfield and creative midfield.

Now it is about who to find.

Away at the moment - back later with some names.

I don't think Wheater is one of them...

I think it all depend on how much we have to spend. I know we heard about 5 million but Why would you tell other teams how much he have to spend because then prices will go up.

Striker- Crouch, Carew, Ngog, maybe Cardozo but can't see us spending 14 million pounds on a striker tho!!!

right side midfield- O'Neil, Larrson, Bentley, Landon Donovan

midfield playermaker- Adam, Steven Davis, Kranjcar

I would imagine these are going to be the names we hear about. Big Sam wants players who can make an impact striaght away after signing them.

Two of those will be 30 soon.

We have to be much smarter with our money and not just pluck easy names from established teams.

Tottenham are an excellent model to follow. They bought the likes of Bale, Huddlestone, Lennon etc. before they were big names, and their value has increased massively. Wigan are doing something similar with the likes of Moses, McCarthy, McCarthur, Rodallega etc. Again, all increased in value.

We're obviously not going to have a huge transfer budget from Venkys so the likes of SWP and Crouch are a complete no-no. Signings like above, complemented with well thought out, free experienced signings (Salgado, Benjani) is definitely the way forward. It's quite easy to fill holes in your squad with free experienced-PL players now, the amount available every window increases. There is no need for a club like ours to spend money on older players, we can't afford to.

although i agree with you lechuck if you read sam's comments he wants to sign "someone who would improve the squad dramatically" and "not looking for a player to develop" so IF the finances are there i think players like Bridge Crouch SWP Carew etc etc will be looked at first

I was joking. Lets go back to reality---perhaps these are the 3:

http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/blackburn-boss-allardyce-has-man-city-winger-swp-among-three-top-january-targets-1262931?

If SWP were to be a loan it could be done for 5M.

SWP would be a good signing but it wont happen. We need an impact player, and he may thrive in our side. We need someone to excite the crowd and the closest we have is Junior and he is far from the finished article. Bentley wont swallow his pride to return here. Crouch is available may interest Sam especially since he has been vocal about his talent in the past.

Whilst SWP would be a welcome addition to the squad you'd have to hope he could be loaned for 6 months for less than £5 million.

I can't say the idea of signing this Tchite chap really appeals as its really only this season that he's started scoring goals and if anything for that role we need someone to slot straight in.

I know we're all being cautious but none of us really know what the real budget will be. I'm sure mr Williams would of said to venky's don't come out and say there is 20 million in January, for all we know saying 5 million is just a smoke screen so we don't overcharged. As soon as we find out credible targets we'll have a better idea on our true budget.

On 365 Harry says he will not stand in the way of Krancjar leaving, what cost though.

If the Larsson link is true, I'd imagine he will be top of the list for RM, purely because of his contract situation.

A striker that can make an immediate impact, that is going to cost, maybe some of the old links from the summer may gives us a clue to where Sam will be looking, Klose, Guiza or Pentecote if fit again although he may not hit the ground running giving the impact Sam wants.

So my three would be Klose, Krancjar and Larsson, if he can squeeze one more attacking option form the coffers then Pentecote or Tchite.

Klose is currently injured, how bad. ???

Adel Tarrabt - Creative genius for QPR, i justthink hed spice things up for us hes a big talent shame spurs got rid this summer.

Adam Hammill - Cracking winger for Barnsley, banged them in this year and seems to have grown up abit a dynamic Bentley.

Ashley Williams - Swansea centre half, great talent.

Antony Annan - Might see him now!

Javier pinola - Nuremburg left back, argie lad and has a cap for them. Good Talent but getting older at 27. 2 million tops.

Lewis McGugan - Forests box to box midfelder, going to be an england player one day. only 21/22.

A TRIAL FOR RIVALDO might be 38 but could be ok till the end of the year, no harm in a trial as he's on a free. Pires 37 just signed for Villa.

Two goals for him today.

With his run of form coupled with Boltons debt and his contract running out, I can see us offering a few million for Elmander in the New Year.
