Tim Southampton Rover Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Nicklas Bendtner would be the perfect marque signing, would cost 10-15million I think, but exactly the type of striker sam likes, and he wants out of arsenal for regular first team football. I could think of 10-15 million reasons why I would not pay that kind of money for Bendtner! I hope we don't waste silly money on players who aren't worth those kinda fees.

Smithy Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Nicko you said we would see names of players this morning seems to be nothing in the people, any update? Perhaps its business as usual??
bellamy11 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 SWP is undoubtedly a busted flush at the top level and I never like seeing him turn out for England but I think would be an excellent loan signing for us. We're arguably at a similar level to City when he was at his peak for them. We would be able to focus on his attributes a lot more than Chelsea could or City do now. He'd be the focal point for much of our attacking play - I think he's a lot better in that role than when he's a bit-part player.
Mafioso Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Would City not prefer to keep SWP as one of four Club Trained players if they were to qualify for next years CL ? Micah Richards, Joe Hart, SWP and Vladimir Weiss/Nedum Onoha/Michael Johnson would be ideal for them IMO.
HemelRover Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Just been watching Juve v Genoa on ESPN and they were talking about Juve being a potential destination of Adebayor in Jan. They were saying that any deal would be relient on them being able to sell the Brazilian Amauri who they are looking to sell for about 8million Euros with Villa being interested. If so, this is the sort of striker we should be looking at. Big, strong, mobile, good on the ground and in the air.

How about we just sign Amauri, he is excellent and is exactly big sams cuppa tea.! I think we are gonna get offered stupid money in January for Jones. Chelsea the most likely, but I could see spurs offering cash plus player(s) and maybe Arsenal being interested. Would reluctantly sell for 20m+, and put the money back in the team. ALways rated Bentner as well, he would flourish in a team like ours where he would be the focal point of attack every week. But nowhere near 10-15m

But nowhere near 10-15m I'd absolutly love to have him at Ewood, very underrated. Just look at his goal against the "wey eye's" quality.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 He'd be a great lone striker for us.....but not for £10m+ I'd rather have 2 or 3 players who could improve our squad.
LeChuck Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I'd absolutly love to have him at Ewood, very underrated. Just look at his goal against the "wey eye's" quality. He's got serious groin problems though - http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2010/09/17/2123735/arsenal-striker-nicklas-bendtner-rubbishes-crazy-retirement
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 were we not interest in Guiza last summer? could be a target. I still think that we will sign players like Carew or Ngog, Larsson and Adam in January. Think Big Sam wants players who will hit the ground running when they come in and HAVE premiership experience. The only one of those I'd entertain is Adam. Carew's injury prone, of course he would be handy for keeping Grella company. Ngog's lively but not a finisher- have you forgotten the one he shinned over the bar from about a yard out against us last season ? Larsson's a steady player but he's really one paced and we've got more than enough of those.

Good god, no. We need a centre mid that can pass the football. If you're only signing one player it's got to be that. SWP is undoubtedly a busted flush at the top level and I never like seeing him turn out for England but I think would be an excellent loan signing for us. We're arguably at a similar level to City when he was at his peak for them. We would be able to focus on his attributes a lot more than Chelsea could or City do now. Wright-Phillips isn't a difference maker these days.
hermitstool Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Tuncay is a player we've been linked with for quite a few years now. Wouldn't mind someone, not neccessarily Tuncay, with that kind of creativity. At least if we did sign him he'd have a ready made chant, though he would have to go a long way to live up to 1% of the brilliance of Tugay.
Smithy Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 He's got serious groin problems though - http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2010/09/17/2123735/arsenal-striker-nicklas-bendtner-rubbishes-crazy-retirement Sounds perfect to me.
BPF Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 My friend's uncle owns a golf club. You can expect Keane in a Rovers' shirt in January
philipl Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 My friend's uncle owns a golf club. You can expect Keane in a Rovers' shirt in January Which one?
BPF Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Which one? Robbie Keane. This goes back to the last transfer window and Chaddy...
chaddyrovers Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Robbie Keane. This goes back to the last transfer window and Chaddy... What are you going on about BPF? are you saying that rovers are going to sign Robbie Keane in January? Or where you having a dig at me or someone?
Ricky Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Lol, I think he explained he was just having a little joke with you chaddy. Youve got to admit it was an amusing story when you posted it in the summer.

chaddyrovers Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I agree it was abit unrealistic but I only posted what two different people told me at that time, that rovers wanted Robbie Keane. Both do have contacts at Ewood Park at Board level. I would have like to have sign Robbie Keane in the summer but Spuds would wanted at least 7 to 10 million for him plus he's on hundred grand a week WHICH IS TOO HIGH FOR US TO PAY ANYBODY. I wouldn't sign him now tho. Personally I would sign either M.Erdinc or Hoarau from PSG.

I'm not a lover of SWP by any stretch of the imagination, but on a short term loan he could give us another string to the bow. One other player I would bring in if possible - and he has been mentioned before is John Carew. He would be ideal for the way we play. As an aside, Baz said to me after today's game that Villa would have been a far bigger threat if Carew had been in their side - and I'm sure they would. All the Villa crosses into the box, with no-one to get on the end, or knock down. Those two, short term would move us forward a little.
Billy Castell Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Keane is 3/1 to go to Wolves. And Bentley is 8/1 to join us.
Brandeburg Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I would like to throw Erik Husklepp's name back in the mix. 10 goals in a lacklustre season from his teams point of view, where he spent much of the time on the wing produceing 10 assists. He has also shown great form on the national team, scoring 4 goals since August including 2 against France and the winner vs. Portugal in the Euro qualifier. He's fast and has great technique, the only set-back is his lack of heading qualites (despite his height of 1,88m) and his physique (even though he can bench over 100kg). He can play both as striker and winger and with Brann's economical situation they'll probably accept a fee between £1 and £1,5m. Also he's a natural PR machine, just look at this preformance with John Arne Riise and our own top scorer:
